I started this game with the expectation that it wouldn't even get me to play more than one session and now I'm almost finished it and even considering doing another playthrough (which is unheard of for me).

I'm pretty surprised that the dialogue acknowledged I've recruited her, that's really cool. I thought all the support conversations would be written to generic enough to occur with any circumstance of the story.

Its still my GOTY but there is some things I wish were improved.
1. Garreg Mach in part 2 was a bit jarring, especially when we're supposed to be at war on the other side of the continent but somehow magically teleport back to the academy every weekend.
They should have added a few more hub maps to mix things up. Imperial Palace for BE, Castle Fhirdiad for BL, the Dukes whatever/sex mansion for GD, and just. small war camp map for when the characters are away from the hub area. The only route that should return to Garreg Mach should be Church.
Either that or just remove the hub entirely from Part 2 and just have traditional FE map exploration. Either one would have been better.
2. Bring back S supports like in the other games so you can pair both characters you want together. Children would also be nice. They could have easily explained it with the time fuckery subplot.
3. Hub/s need a bit more detail and interactivity.
4. Add a proper end game situation with the big bads for BL route. Actually finish Edelgard and Church route instead of half assing it.

Other than those small things its pretty much the best FE ever.

Oh and get rid of those god awful conversation backgrounds and just put the characters in the map, for christ sake

Post your favourite final boss/map theme right now. For me, it's 'God-Shattering Star', but 'A Funeral of Flowers' is an EXTREMELY close second. They're all phenomenal, really. The FE composers do such excellent jobs in this specific field, and we got multiple this time around to boot.

A few extra maps wouldnt be too much work. 70% of dev time for this kind of game is writing, voice acting, bug fixing, balance, and optimising. The actual art assets and maps and shit take almost no time comparatively. At most it would add a couple of gigs onto the filesize but its only an 11 gig game so that hardly matters. I think they could have devoted an extra couple of months to doing some new hub maps.
At the very least they could have added a shitty little war camp map for part 2 instead of everybody magically returning to Garreg Mach all the time. Its also just way too big and empty.

Brigand is op because you get death blow (+6 str every time you initiate combat). I made every physical attacker a brigand in my ng+ run. Look at Dimitri's stats at lvl 20 and add 6 strength to that every time he attacks. Its fucked.
Wyvern lord is good but its a meme to make everyone a wyvern lord. Plenty of the advanced and master classes are good enough. That late in the game you should already have good stats, just use what you think will be fun.
I think Assassin and Swordmaster are better in many situations.

Wyvern Lord is just useful as hell because of so many obstacles in some of the later stages. Like BE final mission with the fire everywhere? Trivialized with flying. Same for GD's bigass poison lake.

Brigand gives Death Blow which can save weaker units from being irrelevant while making strong unit ridiculous. Well worth it.
Wyvern Rider seems to have good stats plus mobility that's really desired in several maps. It's the only thing that's kept Cyril from being useless and my other wyvern riders are great. Worth it if you don't know what to do with a physical unit and have other areas covered.

I think the worthwhile intermediate classes are mercenary, brigand, mage, and the mounted ones. Maybe thief so you can steal everyone's equipment.

If you're autistic enough to keep Byleth underleveled for a long time to have him deal 0 damage with a bow you can grind a stationary boss until you get a few ranks in bow movement and authority. Not really. You don't need to fight 40 enemies. You get points whenever you hit an enemy or if the neemy hits you. Just unequip your weapon sou you can't counter, stand next to an enemy and let him/her hits you. You will get points (toward your class mastery), 2 EXP per hit IIRC. Heal your character when necessary.

I think the game doesn’t judge by priority of closest allies, but predetermine priorities of snub A-ranks. So if you want specific pairings, you have to gimp yourself and have everyone B-Rank except for their romance you want them to have.

on lunatic CQ and BR, don't know for Rev,enemies have identical stats to their Hard Mode but there are more of them, with devious skill combinations, different weapon loadouts, maximum weapon level and placements. Late into the game, they will have dangerous enemy-exclusive skills such as Staff Savant and Inevitable End to requiring different tactics to take down altogether and approach them. More enemies are paired up and some have the option of moving. Certain reinforcement groups will have more triggers that can spawn them. Certain chapters also have fewer Dragon Veins to use, or have them in more difficult to reach locations. The AI will always attempt to perform Dual Attacks and will perform actions faster than on lower difficulties

This honestly isn't a problem until you hit level 40 enemies. And even then, you can make up for it with crit.

Crit is absolutely busted in this game. It's fairly easy to stack and it deals TRIPLE damage, meaning it's easy to get high numbers even with mediocre strength.

Even with all the spoilers she's still a massive fucktard who started an unnecessary war when she could have worked together with Dimitri and Claude instead. Ends dont justify means.

The game does run "smoothly" per se but it just really needs anti aliasing. Models are good, graphics are sufficient given the Switch's power, it's just they cut down on the aliasing to get everything to not lag and give frame drops up the arse.

So I just finished the BE route. Gotta say the final battle was fucking shit, I just rushed to the boss with Byleth and solo it.
It was cool how they say what happened with each unit, and how some of them even get married (Is that fixed?).
Now I am going for the GD route, and I was thinking of doing a only wyvern run.

There were defintiley other options than declaring all out war and murdering tons of people. She didn't have to intentionally starve the kingdom until a plague started, or have slave labour, but she did anyway. She also could have told Dimitri about the Slitherfuckers at the end of BL and worked together with him to crush them once and for all, but instead she tries to kill him.

Stuff I don't really care for in Three Houses:

>Delivery of the story. Story itself is good, but if you can say anything for Awakening and Fates, they upped the standard for presentation in the series. Not just in cutscenes but how the missions were structured. The important story beats in 3H completely lack impact (some of that may be the fault of Byleth - see below), the best you get is that unfortunate feeling of being forced to personally slaughter any recruitable students you left behind - yet Dimitri is killed off camera in GD route which soils it.
>Bloating weapon skill progression to justify the Monastery + Calendar. This grindy shit is the opposite of FE for me, which used to be about making use of limited time + available experience to build your units the best you can.
>Byleth kinda sucks. It's like if the Avatar in Awakening was in place of Chrom. A deliberately emotion-numb robot, they aimed for the Persona protag template and missed, but god everyone in this game can't stop stroking Byleth's ego. Which is a shame because conceptually, pretty cool to be playing as a actual demi-god in charge of a religious order.

I'm still looking forward to doing GD, since I know it has a hype final boss, but my enthusiasm is stifled by also having to redo all the missions up to Gronder field from BL (and the academy stuff too, but that's a given, I guess). I liked their characters and their route way more than BL. I really want to replay it and recruit different students this time around. I'm also looking forward to doing GD, because I want to see dubsteppers battle and because their characters seem pretty fun, especially Lorenz and Hilda. Honestly, on one hand I regret going with BL second, because I was quite let down with them overall and now I'll have to redo a few chapters, instead of playing them fresh on GD, but on the other hand, I'm glad I'll get to do GD as the last of the three, since it'll probably be a better "send-off" to the game than BL.

I really hope Three Houses is the standard for future FE games, in terms of plot, and characters any who. The maps could use some big improvements first and foremost. You just need to speak to them once during the month. Per house per playthrough.

Not defending it but that's the system they went with to give variety to their dialogue.
Be in golden deer have BL/BE characters and you'll see exclusive conversations that wouldn't happen otherwise. Same with if you didn't have them cause as enemies they have dialogues exclusive to that.

Case in point if you're in golden deer you can use that opportunity to get felix/mercedes/manuela to get strong enough to take on the death knight the most amount of times if you get the paralogues.
Sadly my mercedes wasn't strong enough to take him on and I only had felix for one of the encounters because I didn't focus on it.
While in Blue Lion you basically get side tracked with Gilbert/Annette by default and shit goes on.

Dimitri was cool and I loved his design, but the route felt really bland in comparison to BE. It was just an incredibly typical FE story, with one curveball of "Dimitri is crazy" thrown in for a while, before he goes back to being your usual lord character. Edelgard's route felt like a really great ride, where your side can actually be the proactive one for once and try to realize your goal, instead of simply reacting to what the antagonists are doing. Also, the BL supports were just really tedious for me. Half of them are just "Aren't we such great friends? Haha, why don't we do some cooking together?".

My!Unit was a mistake. It's what ruined Awakening's story. It's what fucked Fates' story before it even properly started. It's what keeps ruining my full enjoyment in 3H because WE HAVE TO SHOEHORN YOUR SHITTY MC SOMEHOW AND NOBODY CAN EVER HATE THEM OR BLAME THEM.

BL appeared really boring at first on NG+ but then they became amazing, I got teary eyed at a few of the A supports, and Dimitri's redemption arc was the most kino thing in this game hands down. The game is tilted much more in the waifushit direction than before in terms of how much playtime it takes and options are dedicated to it with even less effort in the maps and balancing the gameplay. The only reason people are giving it a pass is because it’s more “tasteful” and slightly better written.

I agree, but their supports really don't reflect that, save for a few cases. They generally get on well with each other all throughout without touching on those deeper aspects of their personalities most of the time. That mostly happens in characters from outside of the house, when they end up giving them some kind of life lesson - mostly with Byleth, but also others (Annette/Gilbert, Ashe/Catherine, Felix/Seteth, Ingrid/Catherine come to mind). Even the Dedue/Ingrid conversations are just very reserved at the worst of times.
I think what made me enjoy the BE supports more was how they weren't all old friends at the start of the game, but then learn to cooperate and come together despite their early differences. Stuff like Linhardt/Petra, Bernadetta/Ferdinand, Dorothea/Ferdinand or pretty much every one of Hubert's supports.

I was just hoping the mad lad would continue his tunneling toward Enbarr if he never got better and we'd kill Edelgard before she knew what the fuck what happening, leaving the rest of the continent in complete chaos.
