Oh what was that? You guys said the game would flop if it was on Steam and the dev was stupid to not take Epic's money?
Oh... i guess not.

No one said that and it's a shame retards fell for the reverse marketing here so this guy could get free money for a move that entirely benefited him. Retards.
Gotta admire that kind of resourceful capitalism, though.
Steamcels should be gassed
The game is on GOG too. Get it on that then.
No, needs to be on Epic store or no buy, should have taken the deal if they wanted my buy lmao
I'm pirating because of this
Should have just sold out to Epic and maybe I would have bought
Scorn devs said fuck epic too but that was because they needed to prove it wasn't a scam.
GoG is garbage tho, it wont last less than 2 years because of Epic
>hey guys i'm poor please buy my game
>Los Angeles, CA
you guys aren't this retarded right, this is a single dev in an expensive shithole city
>>hey guys i'm poor please buy my game
user what are you talking about? The dude never begged for people to buy his game any more than anyone selling something new. Are you just using this as an excuse for you to complain about expensive Western cities?
Did you just presume us all to be chink shills? How rude.
>wlad marhulets
You sure though? Sounds like just some slav dude
Fucking pathetic
I don't understand Epic. Wouldn't Indie games benefit more from being on multiple storefronts so the game can be seen and possibly purchased by a larger amount of people than being exclusive and only being seen and purchased by the limited number of people who use that particular storefront? Epic exclusivity sounds like a slow death sentence.
>Chinanumbawan, the person
Gtfo bugman.
they don't care about indie game they want you to be on the store so they get money from people buying there
so they can buy more people to do the same
Simple math: Epic gets exclusivity = Epic gets a cut of all sales of a given game = only Epic makes money.
>Epic exclusivity sounds like a slow death sentence.
It probably is, especially since Epic keeps squandering any goodwill they get with these dev-unfriendly practices, and people are noticing.
Source on that? Pretty bummed out it isn't coming out this year but whatever it takes for it not to be another Agony.
It's hard to think of the future when a check for 2 million fortnitebux gets waved in your face.
Epic doesn't buy complete publishing rights I.E.will receive money from any purchase regardless of the storefront. They enter a distribution deal
with devs and publishers where the game is only available on the EGS for a certain amount time
I know i know but it was the only source i could come up with.
>Hitting the milestone on time means that everything is going well. As this game is not just another multiplayer shoot em up for kids, we’re very careful with the info we publish online in order to avoid spoiling the game for our players as most of the people dislike spoilers.
Lol that low blow to epic and fortnite though
Probably would have made more with the Epic deal. Just being contrarian fuckass for the sake of it.
the thing is they took hong kong investment money and hong kong isn't doing great at the moment, if worst comes to worst and china somehow shuts off the internet and outside communication. Scorn is going to go bankrupt.
That doesn't make a whole lot of sense though. EGS is still paying a ton of money for exclusivity it seems along with guaranteed sales on top of that. How are they not bleeding money, who is actually buying games on EGS?
>your social credit score had increased by 2 points
Wait what? The developers are from Hong Kong?
no, they ran out of money from the crowdfunding and needed more money, so they found some hong kong game investors
Epic has outright said that buying exclusives isn't a sustainable approach. They haven't said how they plan on becoming sustainable, though.
Lots of coping EGS shills ITT.
They aren't gonna do it forever, it's more or less a short term plan to try and brute force their way into the market to gain a foothold against steam. The idea being that if they can gobble up exclusive rights for high profile games they can attract a base of customers quickly and establish themselves from there
Gog has cyberpunk 2077
Its not going anywhere anytime soon.
the fact that he keeps linking his blog all over the place acting like he's some kind of messiah is pretty annoying
Free games end in 4 month.
>and establish themselves from there
And that's where they're largely fucking up. They're taking the you bought a game now you're here forever approach
How the fuck are any of these tiny indie games high-profile?
Even if a game has a decent profile before accepting Steam exclusivity, limiting the game to the Epic Store just makes the community and the pool of people actually interested in the game even smaller.
I like how chinkies were spamming the board with threads about how the game officially flopped only to see this a few days later.
>he keeps linking his blog all over the place acting like he's some kind of messiah is pretty annoying
Or he just posted it once on his blog because people repeatedly were asking him about it, and given that it wasn't an Epic dicksucking posts naturally the media types painted him as evil and people who hate Epic have been posting it in support of their viewpoint
EGS doesn't allow low quality games like DARQ on the store, thought.
except he just linked it again for no reason other than "hey buy my game if only because of this thing completely unrelated to if my game is good"
Yeah it's pretty fucky but it's pretty ironic how much they defend the exclusivity approach when they already continue to sell the Unreal games on steam and gog.
Honestly I don't really know why they chose DarQ, it never really struck me as something that popular. It might be baseless conjecture on my part but I think epic's campaign of "Steam is fucking you over because your game will never get noticed among all the trash!" is just a thinly veiled attempt to gaslight indie developers so they can offer them cheap exclusivity contracts to bolster up their game library quickly and cheaply.
I'm hoping Fumito Uedas next project is going well and it has a smoother development time than other Ueda games. One of the only video game directors that I consider true auteurs the others being Keita Takahashi and Hidetaka Miyazaki
Not all epic exclusives are exclusive forever. Seemingly the epic deals are so good are covering potential lost thousands and thousands of sales one year off steam would have gotten. Not like steam is a great place for indies though, you get on the front page for 30 seconds and get burried by hundreds of shitty cookie clickers
post yfw ebinshills BTFO
Yeah he should totally just say 'that blog post' instead of giving context for people who have no goddamned clue about any of that
>Honestly I don't really know why they chose DarQ, it never really struck me as something that popular.
It was among the top 100 wishlisted Steam games. It's pretty much how Epic figures out all their deals
Epic games LITERALLY approached the darq dev though. It was explicitly only after he said he didn't want the exclusive deal that they were no longer offering to put darq on their store.
Good indie games on Steam always get noticed, and then they get ported to other platforms like Switch where they get even more attention. I legitimately can't think of a single good indie game that doesn't have positive reviews and decent sales on Steam, it's always shovelware or shitty artsy garbage that fails and even that isn't always the case.
How many people will even give a single shit about a game after its exclusivity deal ends though? Especially with indie titles? Barely anyone will buy it, especially after some shit like two years.
yeah, nevermind the fact that the reason he wrote it is purely to market to steamdrones who will literally buy anything if it agrees with their politics
"oh I had to write this blog post since SO many people were asking about it" when all he had to do was tweet "I didn't want to cause I said it would release on steam"
he knows exactly what he's doing and it's disgustingly working
Must have been a rogue employee trying to sabotage EGS by lowering its high curation standards with garbage like DARQ.
Thankfully Tim intervened in time.
Someone's seething.
Source?
i've seen you in previous threads and you always say the same thing, what's your beef with the guy?
You sound like nothing more than a dumb epic shill really...
Here's the (you) that you want but this is a poor coping mechanism, seek help and delete Sweeney's number from your speed dial.
HOLY MOTHER OF COPE
Think he was being sarcastic. I still wonder if anyone buys that excuse though, they have the bandwidth for Shenmue 3 and its 100gb filesize but not a tiny indie game?
Epic uses the steam api from retards that install the client, it goes into your steam account and finds your wishlist games, because you installed it and agreed to epics botnet they can still check your steam accounts when its private. This is how they determine which games they should ask for exclusivity.
>offer someone hundreds of thousands of dollars to sell their game on your platform alone
>they say that they want to be on all platforms and don't need the money
>u-uh we don't support t-trash kid
can you spot the lie here?
"Indie" to Epic is Super Giant Games or Devolver Digital titles. They don't want indie trash.
You're not wrong that Epic without permission has trawled through people's Steam files, but the wishlist top 100 is public so they don't need to go through people's stuff for that
Gotta make room for heavy hitters like fucking Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter.

Tim, is that you?
>No one said that
Plenty of insects said that.
Free Tibet
Is the game any good? Anyone played it here?
Delete this image please.
>he ate?
use the archive retard.
Free Hong Kong too
No, Epic doesn't deal with the Source Engine, they use the vastly more popular Unreal Engine.
It's a good game so I'm kinda glad it worked out that way.
fuck you chinky. scared of losing social credits? get fucked.
Look at Tim doing damage control
By the way, thanks for the free game you creepy wanker.
>but if its cybertranny 2077 we can make exceptions
>thanks for the free game
But Epic didn't get the deal so Tim didn't "pay" for it, you're just parroting Yea Forums bullshit to fit in. Quit being a faggot.
The actual reason is that this isn't about benefiting the developers or making money on the games that Epic buys exclusivity of, it's about forcing consumers to move to their store and denying Steam the ability to make money off of the games (at least until the exclusivity runs out). This is why they're fine with the games releasing on GOG too but not Steam, it's specifically about attacking Steam. It's a long-term goal where they want to hurt Steam to bring Steam down to a level where they can compete without needing to buy exclusives, rather than trying to actually prop EGS up by making it appealing to consumers in any way.
I mean in general, not this game, tim. Nice try though.
China just needs to shut off outside communication for 1 day which is completely easy to do, just have to move their ships to hongkong harbour and that have signal jammers and poof nobody is gonna be able to connect to the outside world. Then they can Tieanmen square everyone. Even just having people with signal jamming backpacks around busy areas.
If it happens in south africa almost everyday, why wouldn't china do it?
They see all their recent releases trailers and see if they could slap an exclusivity deal.
This game got contacted by Epic literally a day or two after he released the trailer with the release date in it.
If he had wanted to capitalise on it he would have talked about it during the Ooblets drama instead of waiting for that to die down and then mentioning it to one site where it then got spread around from.
OH NO NO NO NO
They took Phoenix Point off GOG as well, so that's not true. DARQ too, actually.
>This is why they're fine with the games releasing on GOG too but not Steam
Show me one game that's on Epic and GOG but not on Steam. Epic pays for exclusivity, i.e. only their store sells the game.
this
what's next? funding for seminars against epic?
people would definitely buy seats for that too anyway
>Active players for a two hour single player game
>When it already has 433 reviews
>I'm retarded, it was a joke! It's just a joke bro! I'm not coping you are coping!
Keep embarrassing yourself, tim.
>475529140
>dog eater is still coping so he's still trying to use the consecutive number of players argument
Nice. :)
>433 reviews
which most of them don't even play the game and just dropping "yeah fuck epic bro!1!"
>HAHA I WAS JUST PRETENDING
Pathetic.
I had thought there were such games, but apparently I was mistaken. Either way the long-term goal is the same, it's about denying the competition the chance to make a profit rather than profiting off of these things themselves. Refer to this:
vg247.com
archive.is
>Nearly a decade ago, a site called Diapers.com was a massive business worth $300 million, offering free shipping on diapers. But despite having been an extremely profitable company, it doesn’t exist any more. You see, back around 2010, Amazon.com waged a price war against them and started selling diapers cheaper than its competitors, selling them at a loss. Diapers.com became unprofitable, then got bought by Amazon and shut down. The huge company spent money in the short term so it could profit in the long term once the competition was out of the way. Epic appears to be following a similar pattern.
The flaw in Epic's plan here is that Steam is far too big to take down in this way.
an indie dev doesnt care when they go to the bank and cash the 50k paycheck. throw their game in the fucking garbage for all they care.
>I mean in general
In this thread about DARQ where you said "thanks for the free game", which was opted for an Epic store exclusive but was declined. Generally speaking you're an absolute fucking idiot. Like we're talking primary school drop-out here.
I'm alright with the occasional friendly fire if it keeps the insects in check.
>see also: poe's law
>high profile games
they fucked up then. only "high profile" games they could get are Metro and Borderlands. what's the point of all this indieshit is beyond me
Oh no, I made I type. You got me there.
Here, let me fix it.
Thanks for the free games, tim.
Let's say you were the owner of Pizza Hut and I came to you to sell my homemade pizza sauce so you can put it on your pizzas, but then I tell you I want to also sell my sauce to Papa Johns too. Wouldn't you tell me no as well, that if I was going to sell you my sauce, that it should be exclusively for only Pizza Hut pizzas? Why should I be allowed to sell exclusive pizza sauce to whoever I want?
based
Why are Steamies seething?
China is overconfident and accustomed to being able to just tankroll over their problems.
>FOOD
>ANALOGY
Yeah pretty much, the brute force "throw money at it until it works" approach is a very Chinese one. They don't understand that the western market doesn't accept this sort of shit.
>Food analogies
If I'm the owner of Pizza Hut why the fuck would I buy some random faggots sauce instead of making my own with all the money I have?
This is a fucking retarded analogy in general but it's also wrong from the start because what actually happened here is that you were making sauce you were preparing to sell to Papa Johns, then you were contacted by a Pizza Hut representative who told you they wanted to buy your sauce, but only if you didn't sell it to Papa Johns, and then when you said no they pretended they never wanted your sauce in the first place.
What if it's the best pizza sauce in the world?
Even if that retarded FOOD ANALOGY was worth considering, it falls apart when you realize most people don't buy a particular kind of pizza just for the sauce. They buy pizza for a combination of reasons, including menu options, delivery service quality, drink options/specials...some pizza places actually let you eat buffet style pizza too.
Want some advice Chen? Tell your masters to start by adding a shopping cart.
so Yea Forums how many copies of darq each of you bought so far?
how many more will you buy for his next project?
all for the effort of fighting against china, right
game's shit btw
>kowloonnights.com
>Please note that we only fund premium PC/console games
>This means no AR/VR, blockchain or mobile-first titles
These dudes sound pretty fucking based if legit.
>475529808
>developer said things are going great
>BETTER DROP THE SAME SHIT I'VE SPAMMED TO CLAIM THE GAME FLOPPED
Uhhh, the only one seething here is you, dog eating insect. Still no (You) for you though.
Can't wait to see you post wojaks with greentext and create more threads after your btfo in this thread.
Why doesn't Epic put effort into making the store more feature rich? Why are they holding themselves back by excluding stuff such as a shopping cart, better cloud saving, and more? Do that many people just not care about those features?
Better food analogy
>Perfect recipe for homemade pizza sauce
>Go to market it
>Walmart wants it
>Lowes wants it
>Aldi wants out
>Some shit no name Chinese grocery store wants it
>Chinese grocery store tells you that they'll let you have a bigger cut of units sold, but you can't let any of the other grocery stores stock it
>All of the other grocery stores are fine with simultaneously stocking your sauce
Obviously I should go with the chink store, am I right?
Because they don't care about that, only money.
>Why doesn't Epic put effort into making the store more feature rich?
All their devs are too busy crunching endlessly to keep up with Fortnite's unsustainable development cycle
You joke, but look at all those retards asking if its real. Dark times.
honestly no clue
I'm pretty sure it is because they are dumping a fuckton of money into trying to effectively force the market, and Tim is pocketing everything else.
The Chinese store is actually the biggest and newest store for all pizza so it's in your best interest to sell to them because they'll give you lots of money for it. You are a fool if you don't sell them your pizza sauce.
