Why did it form such a sudden and universally recognized rivalry with Prototype?

I beat this game 100% since when it came out there were really no good games on the console.
I still liked the previous entries more.
It was a nice touch that the DLC and this got a PS4 Pro patch.

The first one came out around the same time with the first Prototype entry and it had the same "open world with super powers" idea.

Most underrated PS4 game ever

Then 2nd prototype got a black protagonist and everything went to shit.

Also narrative similarities. Prototype was set in Manhattan, inFamous was set in a Manhattan surrogate. Both involved being a superhero in a metropolitan city that had been quarantined because of a plague.

Also Yahtzee proposed an art contest between the devs and they actually did it.

Fun things are fun

1st one was ok, 2nd one had fun combat but the ending SUCKED and the 3rd one was pretty solid overall but needed NG+ so you could actually use the stone powers for something.

First light is just a prequel dlc. It was enjoyable and both the dlc and the main game were on ps+ which was nice.

A friend said that Infamous 2 was a good game, so we couch play the first one so we can follow the story. The game isn't that good, but we persevere.
When we fire the second one, we find it as dull as the first one, and then my friend realizes that he meant another game, that turned to be "Second Son" only for ps4

Even if you don't like it at first, once you get the Ice Launch (if you aren't a dickhead) it becomes one of the most fun open worlds in terms of sheer traversal and fighting

Every Infamous had its positives and negatives. I thought Second Son was fun and the switching powers was cool, but the story was just kind of lame. First Light was cool though, and I enjoyed using the chicks powers more than when I used them in Second Son.

My bad. I see that now. Has Sanzaru made a good game? The only thing I can think of was that Secret Agent Clank spin off for Ratchet and Clank.

2 had good ideas but neutered your basic lightning for no reason and the fire/ice powers should have been a separate skillsets entirely like in second son
second son was okay i guess, worse than the first two

I First Light was neat, I got it for free so I can't complain
Plus Fetch had thick thighs and a fat ass so that was nice

I enjoyed playing this game and it was visually impressive but it ends so abruptly. It definitely feels like they hit crunch time or ran out of budget so they had to cobble together an ending quickly. Other than that I'd say it's probably a 7/10 game. Had potential for more though.

She actually had that grungy feel but wasn't over the top or corny

I only played second son, never had a ps3. I really wish there was a bigger difference between the different powers. Like they all had their different uses, but they never really made you change your approach when you switched powers. Kind of wish they fleshed out neon or smoke more instead having 3 other not so fleshed out powers, with one that you don't really get to use.

Second Son has awful sidequests and the power swapping is unnecessarily clunky. You should have been able to switch between them on the spot, or maybe even had a single form that makes use of all the different elements, like in Infamous 2. As is, it's best to stick to either neon or broadcast since they provide the best traversal options. I might actually like First Light more because of these reasons.

Neon is the worst skill combat wise by far. Such a pain to control and does so little damage.
Video is probably the best skill overall considering both combat and mobility.

first game was a fun little game and a nice surprise. only real problem was the graphics were ass. 2nd game was better in almost every way but the villains weren't as fun to fight since it was MOSTLY just some redneck militia and the superpowered enemies didn't come till later. second son is fun but the story kind of sucks and concrete power is half-assed.

From what I remember it was stupid good for playing as a good guy. Just dash around until you could do that slo-mo shot

i HATE the beast twist in infamous 2 because we see the guy is clearly not this evil monster that hunts cole and loves destruction but is instead just some guy doing what he thinks is necessary to save the human race because nobody knows if the plan to kill all the conduits will cure the non-conduits. instead, i choose to believe that SOMEHOW kessler's beast was yet another version of cole who went bad just like if you choose the evil ending in infamous 2 and cole becomes the beast.

honestly, i think second son would've been MUCH BETTER if it followed the evil cole timeline and it was about delsin trying to fight his way through cole's legion of conduits before facing off against the man himself. his ability to copy powers would prove useful.

1 and 2 were kino

good franchise, I personally liked the 1&2 more than Second Son. I miss that sci-fi mistery vibe, Second Son doesn't have it. It felts more like a bad X-Men ripoff, with the whole discrimination and jail thing. First Light should have been part of Second Son and not a standalone game. Paper Trail was interesting but felt very clunky. I also think that 1&2 were better at dealing with the morality system/choices. I overall dislike is the gradual switch from the comics-style cutscenes to the in-game ones

Also that blue-collar New York accent she has is extremely endearing.

They went off the trophy statistics to see what ending was done by the most people and that's why we got the good ending as canon.

One Ratchet, one InFamous, no Sly, and no J&D this gen, is criminal. One of the worst gens ever.

Im pretty sure sooner or later they will come back to the series but I guess they just wanted to make something new and leave the Infamous series alone for a while like they did with Sly Cooper, I would rather have them return to Sly Cooper for once than Infamous

i had a good time with 1 and 2 but i couldnt get into second son. the main character was really edgy and the whole game seemed to be aimed at a younger audience. the gameplay was ok but i got bored after a little while and wasnt getting into the story so i dropped it.
