Redpill me on "traditional" fighters Yea Forums, what's the appeal? Competitively they're not as popular as Smash, so the competition is easier. Casually they lack the all star roster and fun chaotic multiplayer of Smash.

just git gud faggot

>they're not as popular as Smash, so the competition is easier.
You're mindset is completely the opposite of ours, so there is no way to convince you to like traditional fighters.

>what's the appeal?

Not being a homo

Isn't the best fighting game player a gay furry?

do you fucking realize how many fighting games there are? do you think that winning in a big tourney in one particular game means you are a god at the games you don't even play?
there's no such thing as 'the best fighting game player'

>What's the appeal?
Not being a party game for starters

Bonchan is not gay nor is he a furry

>Competitively they're not as popular as Smash, so the competition is easier
>competition is easier
...have you ever even played a fighting game?

You're obviously not a fighting game player, furry sonic fox dominates all the games he plays

just fucks all those soi hetero boys right up

dude he couldn't win any SFV tournaments and thats being memed as the casual street fighter game.

Let's see him win in Tekken 7

I admit a lot of modern fighting game mechanics are bogged down in traditions and standards that carried over from the early game. But disregarding legacy mechanics, the appeal of traditional fighting games is the much greater focus on individual fighters. Individual limb positions and timings matter a lot more, which gives you more to think about when dueling an opponent one on one.

>You're obviously not a fighting game player, furry sonic fox dominates all the games he plays

Except for the two biggest ones.

this

>furry sonic fox dominates all the games he plays
he tried to play SFV and that didn't go well for him to the point of completely dropping it after a few months
he tried to play SCVI and dropped it after he started getting his ass handed to him
he has never played tekken or an anime fighter like GG or BB
the only games he's good at is MK and DBFZ, which he lost this year

He was one of the top American players in UNIEL though and made grand finals in BBCF twice before dropping.

The real advantage that Smash has, besides the fanservice, is that it has a very well defined control scheme: direction + button, and you can reasonably guess what your fighter will do, IE attack in that direction. Other fighting games require you to memorize unique inputs for every character, which is why newbies bounce off but players that are used to memorizing moves can comfortably migrate from game to game.

There is none. Ryu and Ken play better in Smash than they ever have in Street Fighter. "Traditional" fighters are nothing more than the stubborness of a dying, outdated genre that refuses to move on.

Grand finals in what tournaments though. He certainly wasn't there at EVO or EVO Japan since even if he was the best American player he would still get washed by Asian players since the US is garbage at anime fighters.

>The US is garbage at anime fighters
Didn't watch BB Tag this year I see
>Inb4 moving goalposts

I hate competative fighting, Smash or otherwise. I like certain fighting games because they're just fun to play. Only a smashfag would try to argue bigger skill ceiling = more fun. And it's also a joke to say Smash has a higher skill ceiling than something like Samurai Showdown or Guilty Gear.

>Competitively they're not as popular as Smash, so the competition is easier. Casually they lack the all star roster and fun chaotic multiplayer of Smash.
what did he mean by this?
You have to admit though that DBFZ grand final with him and Goichi was damn good. I dont even think DBFZ is a fun game but they made it seem intense.

>Competitively they're not as popular as Smash, so the competition is easier.
I really hope this stays as the stupidest thing I've read for a while, I don't think I can handle anything more retarded.

Where was sonicfox then? I know he played TAG at some point.

Infiltration, Tokido and even Justin wong is better.

>Casually they lack the all star roster and fun chaotic multiplayer of Smash.
You call same stage, no items, no hazards fun? Its so rare to play smash like the party game it is because 90% of the playerbase are FGC wannabes who cant wait to talk about Nairs.

Find new friends that aren't competitive cucks then.

>the competition is easier

Friends who don't want to git gud are insufferable are boring to play with. You can't have any form of discussion about game mechanics with them.

how does that apply at all to a party game? You can only act like smash is more than that when you turn off a bunch of default features.

I'll say SonicFox could do well, online, after a few onths in any fighting game he plays.

But if he were to even breathe the competitive air of a Tekken World Tour Masters event, he would be eliminated from pools instantly. He said he was gonna try to get into Tekken so I'd like to see him try.

That's where Smash shines though. It's fun without competition which you can't say for Street Fighter and its countless clones.

The games are less popular so there's less competition. The line between the EVO champion for Street Fighter or Mortal Combat and the average player is much smaller than the one between Leo and the average Smasher.

op asks a legit question, and the thread is immediately filled with triggered fgc faggots.

I would love to get into these, but since the online nearly always sucks or dies on whatever platform I purchase games on at the time it never happens. I just play Chess on Lichess now. I'm sick of buying fighting games that have dead communities in a month.

It's because they don't have an answer. The truth is that there's no reason to play "traditional" fighting games because they are an objectively more shallow version of the genre. It's like playing a musou game when you could be playing Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta.

That was quick. Alright try to top it again by answering this. Is the average smash character more difficult to play than the average SF character?

op is a legit faggot and casual. His peanut brain will never understand the appeal of a fighting game when he's only played dumb party games.

I don't think so because Smash characters have a broad spectrum of complexity. You have technical characters like Peach and Snake, and then brainlet characters like swordies. It also depends on the SF game. Third Strike characters are about as complex as Melee characters, but SF5 characters can all be mastered in a day.

OP's just dickriding Smash and you know it

>tfw everyone I know IRL is a boring compfag who gets triggered by items and fun stages
>tfw quickplay keeps matching me up with people like that or people doing gay ass taunt parties
I just wanted to play a fucking party game

Great deflection. Hope you catch someone with your bait. I hope I don't catch your stupidity because of being here.

I answered your question, what more do you want? No, I don't think the average Smash character is more complex than the average SF character.

I'm shocked there are people who think like this

Infiltration and Tokido are has beens that can't compete anymore. You should have said Bonchan, Gachikun and Punk.

"Traditional" fighters have shit rosters. Why would I want to play as some bland martial artist when I could play as Mario, Link or Sonic?

>Has buff bros who could smash the earth in half
>Oooh lemme play a italian plumber who jumps on shit
smash has a problem of over-bolstering their roster, half the characters have reused moves and such moves spaded and neutered when compared to melee. other fighting games keep their roster usually consistent and are WAY more balanced

Smash has buff bros too
>Belmonts
>Snake
>Captain fucking Falcon
>Ganondorf
>Incineroar
Not to mention the most fun versions of Ryu and Ken to date

Play Pokken then. It uses traditional fighting game mechanics but has a roster of pokemon/elemental monsters with unique thematic powersets.

But can I play as Mario?
