Well for one Goro's "excuse" becomes pretty lackluster when a third of the party went through something similar.
Joker's parents never talk to him after sending him to live with a man they've never met but he's a self-insert so I guess you cant really count him.
Ryuji had a drunken abusive father and is actually kind of poor instead of a big celebrity like Akechi but he never needed to murder anybody.
Ann doesnt count. The only bad word she has against her parents is their travelling meant she never had time for friends.
Yusuke never knew his parents and was abused his whole life and he also never became a murderer.
Makoto has a dead dad (and no word from mom) though her family life is still relatively OK considering that situation so I guess she doesnt count.
Futaba also never knew her dad (possibly the same as Akechis) and her mom's death traumatized her way more and she just become autistic instead of a murderer.
Haru's dad was murdered in front of her eyes though she takes it almost creepily too well.

I dunno I guess there's nothing inherently wrong but it gets kind of stale. I understand that as Phantom Thieves they aren't meant to be normal but do they all need to have a semi-tragic backstory?

The ship sinking meant they were at a lower altitude than where they entered. In addition, the ship was moving, meaning they would wind up somewhere else entirely. Just accept that it doesn't make sense.

TV World specifically needed an exit TV though. P5 never gives an explanation or reason why you have to return to your origin point.
