>Quit MTG
>Fell into the gacha vortex
I know now I just like gambling and you know what? Dropping a few bucks a month on a gacha or card game to scratch that itch is fine by me.

That is also a waste of money. What is your point OP?

>he doesn't buy singles
Lmaoing@yourlife

>personal physical assets are the same as server side digital assets
No wonder you see no problem with dumping hundreds of dollars into a lootbox simulator for jpegs, you're all fucking idiots.

the look of light/moderately used trading cards fills me with joy

thread should have ended here

But I don't play TCGs (or Gacha for that matter).
I spend all my money on figures instead. Currently waiting on this one.

Attached: file.png (550x800, 886K)

Lol not the same. Physical goods cant be taken away from you and the secondary market will always have value

If people find it fun and get enjoyment from it then it doesn't really matter. Sorry your life is so devoid of happiness user

Attached: Capture.png (407x452, 78K)

Spend your money on gunplas and car scale plamos instead.

>i-it's fun to waste our money on images and sound clips that could easily be found on the internet! you're just miserable!
Keep trying, paypig. You'll find a decent argument to stand on someday

you understand that structure decks exist for a reason right?

>Enemy Controller in the picture
Nice.

I do have some Eva models, plus a tank I haven't had the time to put together.

Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links actually guarantees you rare cards though and has way more "choose the card you want fro. This selection of rare cards" events and rewards than the standard gacha.

Its already a dumb comparison for you to make because the real gacha in the form of trading cards require money while gacha requires in game currency and not actual dollars

except it is a decent argument, fucking loser

>Characters or stuff have no physical value. No aftermarket value

user, you do realize you spend your money on things on equally transient things that make you happy right?
Unless you're going to tell me that you don't have any hobbies and just save all your money. In which case, that's admirable but sad.

>get tired of Yugioh
>sell cards and make some money back
Value can increase or decrease cause of meta but you can still get some money back since it is a Physical item. Hell most of my time buying YGO cards have been revolving around trading back an expensive card like Infernal Impernance for cash and/or more booster boxs. Can't do that shit with Gacha.
>get tired of Gacha
>can't sell digital items
>don't get any money back at all.

You're right. While both are a complete waste of money, one of them doesn't take up space in your home and is thus the smarter choice.

>gacha-degenerate calling others losers
Yeah, I think that's a yikes.

>decide you don't want physical taking up space anymore

>no aftermarket
I bot accounts for gacha games on my server and regularly sell them for 10-50 bucks depending how well I luck out on them after 6-months or so. Actually selling a high level account, especially a lot of the more popular ones can get you $100+ depending on what you have in them.

Illegal of course but unlikely to ever be cracked down upon.

How does one get into any of that?

>buzzwords!
you sure showed him

You can sell your account you know

The most expensive I had was about 15$ and I wasn't going to try selling 300 25 cent cards and another 30 1$-3$ cards individually for 'full value'

I maybe took a loss of 30-40$ if I autistically tried selling everything. But how long would that have taken me to sell? Not worth the time.
I got ripped off years ago when a friend of mine stole a ton of my cards.
Fuck you Matt.

At least you can resell those.

>Have vast collection of Pokemon cards from the first few sets, built up from all the cards I bought and the thousands of cards I got from friends and friends of friends over the years as they stopped collecting
>Had any where from 3-50 of each card from the first few set releases
>Years down the line, I've forgotten about them for the most part, have left them sitting in extensive plastic wrap in storage
>A bunch of my little cousins start playing Pokemon, dig my collection out of storage and give the cards to their parents to distribute between them all
>Gust of Wind gets unbanned from tournament play less than a month later
I wouldn't have sold anything else from that collection, but I had dozens of Gust of Winds and I could have made hundreds off that one card alone considering immediately after the ban lift it was going for like $15 a card or some shit, I was pissed.

At least with card games you can sell them later and get something back, with gacha once you throw your money in the hole it's gone forever

>obtain server
>setup your choice of vm and vpn
>setup multiple instances of vm with a bot and game running with the vpn to cover the ips in case one gets banned
>check in on it every now and then to make sure no antibot stuff is happening
>after account is sufficiently leveled/rolled, sell it
>???
>profit

>servers shut down
>can no longer sell account
>cards will always retain some value as they are physical
Let's not even address the small market account selling has compared to TCGs. Gacha Account selling are an unstable and small market.

Oh god are you one of those people who legitimately think they can retire off pokemon cards?
I assure you, they're not worth as much as you think

BTFO

just pirate them

You think you are a jew with your schemes but remember you're all alone and without a fortune.

>Lia311

Yugioh cards are worth money, and you can make money buying them.
Gacha games are not inherently valuable, and i'd imagine selling accounts kind of undercuts the point for most people.
I've spent probably $100 on yugioh in the past two years, and got cards worth $300~

I have well over $20k in Magic: The Gathering cards, have played for nearly 15 years, and have never ever ever bought a single pack outside of playing limited (which I do rarely because limited a shit).

Those have value, your 10101101101011s does not

>Spent about $200 in gacha to support the developer instead of being a freeloader.

Same argument can be said of anything that doesn't provide necessities like food or shelter

Only retards pull from packs
Just buy singles like a normal human being

People spend hundreds of dollars on single cards so they don't have to deal with pulling bullshit
And it's generally more economical to do so

What is the appeal of gacha?
It just looks like farmville shit to me..

Attached: 1566592531071.jpg (655x753, 29K)

>decide you don't want digital goods anymore
>wasted money
Actually, people typically sell their accounts.

But buying singles doesn't briefly quell the darkness like buying packs does.

I've seen that argument being posted on the internet for 20 years and every time it's written by someone in denial. Years later, they always regret doing what ever it was they were trying to defend.

Literally anyone that plays any TCG will tell you that cracking packs/boxes for fun is a gamble you'll nearly always lose. You either buy singles or you buy packs for a draft.

Also I wouldn't care if gachas/lootboxes being banned made card games change things up

At least you get laminated cardboard. Gacha is paying for .png's. I get better quality ones from Gelbooru for free.

Oh shit so all in game currency is free now? Fuck, how do gacha game companies make money then if they're all 100% f2p?

okay, retard

Yes there's still little to no aftermarket for anyone who plays normally though. We are not talking about people like you who are 0.001% of the playerbase who bot accounts and sell them once they have enough in game currency.

Tell that to those bit-coins hoarders.

Damn you're mad. You should have just not responded.

If I don't want to spend money, I can still get the same cards/characters/weapons that everyone else gets in gacha.

If I don't spend money on trading cards, you can't do any of that without commiting a felony

Fundamental difference in business plans. Gacha work to make money off a select group of people to allow others to enjoy the game free to play, while trading cards work to make money off every single person who interacts with the game

TCG:
>you get something of some physical value that had to be transported and made
>you can basically always buy exactly what you want from the secondary market
>you can freely trade/sell or do whatever with the product once you have it

Gacha/Lootbox shit:
>you get a string of 0s and 1s that is being hosted on some server that basically no tangible value
>you can rarely buy what you actually want. You are almost always forced to gamble until you might get it
>you can rarely trade/sell or do anything with what you """""""""own""""""""""

They are both trash tier gambling but gacha shit is obviously worse

no user

its showing OTHERS you have the jpgs that they DONT have and spent 1k to not get =^)

You can use the same argument for video games

>enjoy the game free to play

Show me gachashit where you can sell/buy/trade any and all pulls. You won't because you can't.

this, it's facebook-tier shit. Play cookie clicker if you're that much of a spaz

you didn't mention any terms. i wouldn't ever do it, but a person can sell their account

You get the fucking point. Gacha is designed the way it is because developers want there to be a f2p playerbase because it just opens up the potential pool of players. Trading cards are approached financially in a different way

>boomers and wannabe boomers mad because their little paper cards got called out

Selling cards is not only legal but encouraged. That's why it's called a trading card game. Selling game accounts is illegal.

>imagine beign to poorfag to buy singles
Lmaing at your atm balance

You don't own what you can't touch. Do you understand this?

Secret Denko Sekka is Kino

Also you can always buy singles, it's cheaper anyways.

You're missing the point entirely you said TCGs take real money to buy in to and virtual gacha dont because it's in game currency when in game currency costs fucking real money you faggot retard.

Saying hurr I can just reroll and save my in game currency and get what I want is stupid because A rerolling is just working the system temporarily for a small batch of the games content and B saving up will not guarantee you what you want because the games rates are always designed to fuck you over.

>NO NO NO U CAN'T SELL UR ACCOUNTS THAT'S ILLEGAL

God, it was so fun back in the days when none of us kids used the Internet to search for best optimal deck builds. We just bought trading packs together and had fun looking at the art, trying to use every card that looked cool or had a fun effect. Traded valued cards for shit cards that had art of something you liked. FUck. Now we just buy single cards after looking up what the best deck is.
>BUT MAGIC draft
SJW bs ruined all the fun of that.

yeah, same people also had a bunch of gundam stuff too. i spent so much money buying shit.

>servers can die and you still have those memories
Your cards can get set on fire and you still have those memory
>you can sell your account for thousands of dollarios
You don't acually. You can only sell accounts when a game barely came out to new players who don't want or know how to reroll. When a game is already on nobody wants to give up their own accounts and fewer newer players who would even want to purchase accounts. Let alone pay "thousands" for content they missed.
>you can buy the stuff you want so you dont have lots of common shit
You can almost never bypass gacha in gacha games. Ultimately the only way to get the stuff you want is by spending money on gacha rolls at ~1% rates
>nice metallic foil
Gacha has no metal foil, user. Gachas barely have more than a .png someone can rip and upload on the internet.

>buys singles online
wow that was hard
Hell not even online, the local card and comic shop has most singles for cheaper unless they're rare holo variants or shiny Cardfight Vanguard cards depicting anime girls in lingerie.

I can't really argue with it aside from all gacha not being terribly good. The ones I've played I agree with the tiers of, and the top tier I've played neither of so I can't say if they deserve it or not.

I have a minimalist life, I pirate everything I can, spend high on things that really matter like food and comfy clothes.

I am not into gaming anymore, I trade my passion for gaming to reading. Yet, I still visit Yea Forums even if I don't play games as frequently I used to.

You could try going to YGO locals if you want to make friends who play it. I've never been to one, but some stores I play Magic at have YGO on the same day, and most of those players are nigs, so be careful.

this

i was opening packs looking for a few cards when i looked and noticed a card i wanted dropped in value. so i just spent the money i was gonna spent LOOKING RANDOMLY for that card among others to get it outright.

You're missing out on the actual collector's grade Cardfight Vanguard cards like the 2018 Special Numbered Variant Phantom Blaster Dragon of which only 300 exist in English

Except any other hobby provides more enjoyment vs time/cost. Videogames are barely worth the time, but straight gambling via gacha is 100x worse. You don't even get a physical product like in card games.

Attached: 1566499206169.jpg (680x680, 83K)

You can have fun with bad cards in TCGs and the booster pack sales model can be used to make interesting formats. Can you do that with Gatcha?

mate I don't even know how to play CFV I just have a few of the cards from a vending machine, watched 7 episodes of the anime, and was considering buying a few of the pretty ones from the singles selection at the shop until I noticed they were triple the price of any given YGO holo card

TCG's are most fun when you were a kid and dumb against other dumb kids with limited cards

Vanguard holos work differently from other card games in that they have tiers. While YGO has the standard four rarity system for playable cards(common, rare, ultra, secret), Vangaurd has a five tier system(C, R, RR, RRR, VR) at set rates per box. Beyond those are the special rarities that are cards from the normal tiers with new cosmetic differences like being signed, full art and so on. Those often replace rares in a box and are way more expensive since they are way more random and essentially extra.
They also keep the prices of the normal tiers cheaper since collectors aren't buying those ones up.

You can do that with a group of friends with adults too, user.

Nah. Kids are a bunch of fucking cheaters that don't actually play by the rules, top deck every single time, and make up bullshit house rules.

Some friends and I got back into yugioh with retarded decks we play each other with, and it's fun and decently cheap

Anyone who buys boosters is legit retarded, especially with MTG and their constant rotation of what's legal to play. Buy singles. The Innistard/Return to Ravanica legal play period made me cream with my army of 4/4 indestructible angel tokens. Thanks mommy Avacyn.

You're retarded if you buy anything intangible of your own volition

Reduction is a terrible argument. You can make anything sound shitty and worthless like that.
>I'm sure that pile of metal and plastic was really worth the money you spent on it

I see, thanks
Doesn't YGO have way more than that? I know they discontinued Ghost Rare and Ultimate Rare but to the best of my knowledge there's still a bunch more foil types. The CFV special rares sound more like the shiny Pokemon fullarts and Crystal Pokemon (or the equivalent) from the PTCG.

>caring about rotations
Legacy, EDH, and Modern all exist user. Unless something is banned they're not going to lose any cards.

Some dude I knew in high school said he played it and we could play using his old cards
Turns out what he knew was a bizarrely complicated ruleset for yugioh made up by his grandad where the levels were essentially HP, effect were almost meaningless, and their attribute had some sort of trade effect with other monsters.

YGO has some other ones but a lot of them are preset in a special set so they're not as special if that makes sense. Also I was being brief with the Vanguard rarities. Brief list of them that have popped up in the past two years:
Origin Rares
Image Ride Rares
Special Rare
Special Vanguard Rare
Secret Rare
Cross Vanguard Rare
Delete Rare
Vanguard Delete Rare
Legendary Idol Rare
Ultra-Rare Rare
Rainbow Signature Ultra-Rare Rare
Signed Special Rare(in 3 flavors)
Special Generation Rare
Q4 vs AL4 Album Alt Arts
Previously mentioned Numbered Special Rare Phantom Blaster Dragon
Most of these aren't in every set but as you can see there's a lot of cosmetic rarities
