Yeah it does.

It does. Theirs a lot of problems. I love the game but I can not play it unmoded anymore

you misspelled SUCKS lmoa you dumb faggot

Yes little zoom zoom, Final Fantasy does indeed suck. It's why you'll barely find anyone willing to identify as a fan of the franchise these days

what mods? and where from?

No, no, terras parents merely do a strange dance that involves turning into a star. Maybe they hugged in one part. But that was platonic, and they clearly didnt fuck. Because terra's mom is saving herself for me

It certainly does fuck......every other game in the world right up its ass. Fuck off underage

boomer here you're right don't waste your time when there are better games by the same company on the same system

You bet it does, one of the best games ever made.

what mods? will it be better than SNES or GBA version?

Remember to play the game with the TWUE patch for a non-mangled translation, lewd sprites, and some (optional) QoL features, zoomies!

V has a better Job System

VII has a better story

Thanks friend.

Coincidentally, I just started playing this game for the first time an hour ago. I stopped because the rom froze when Kefka appeared at the desert castle and went to browse Yea Forums for a while.

I really wish people younger than me weren't allowed to share their opinions.

>stopped because the rom froze when Kefka appeared at the desert castle
What ROM did you use?

You should apply the TWUE patch on a fresh, vanilla ROM, by the way. I'm not sure if having preexisting saves will cause issues with the patch (I had issues with the game bugging out on the first battle the first time I used it and the only thing I can think of was having older pre-patch saves), but you sound pretty early in the game so I would move your save directory and start fresh anyway.

Outside of that, the TWUE patch includes a fuckton of bug fixes, so it should be a very stable experience once it's patched.

Sorry grandpa, we rule this joint. Go to your rest bed now.

I'm in my prime. You're at the dumbest age in the dumbest generation. I pity you for never experiencing 90s internet.

Any good romhacks out there?

>you sound pretty early in the game so I would move your save directory and start fresh anyway.
Yeah, I'll do that.

I'm just using pretty much the first rom link I could find, since Emuparadise is ded.

What's the best way to play Final Fantasy VI? I played it on a Snes rom when I was thirteen and got up to the halfway point when Kefka pulls his shit stunt. I kinda want to replay again.

>since Emuparadise is ded.
Install Tampermonkey, click the link below, badda bing.

I thought saying something fucks means it's good? Is it me that's retarded or is it everyone else?

>There's
Illiterate zoomer

I'm pretty into rpgs and I gave this game a try, the TWUE even, but I don't know, something about it just didn't grab me (I think I stopped when I found a train in a forest or something). I thought the character sprites looked weird (Terra's colors clash a lot, Locke looks gray and drab and strange, Edgar and Sabin are fine I guess), and the lack of enemy movement plus random encounters put me off after having played through Chrono Trigger earlier. Is it worth giving it another chance? I'd like to like it.

Based and upvoted ^

Seems like it should be straightforward, but I just get a "connection has timed out" error when I click the "download with workaround" link.

I'm using Firefox, is that an issue?

See:
TWUE uncensors the game, corrects a fuckton of translation mistakes (some are minor things like spell or item names, some are pretty notable story or mischaracterization issues, TWUE is one of the only translations that actually fixes these), and includes some optional bugfixes and QoL addons. The translation also makes an effort to keep a lot of the memorable (and corny) lines from the original translation.

The GBA version is another option--it arguably has the best translation (TWUE is partially based off of it) and it has extra content, but most other parts of the experience suffer (audio, visuals, etc.) There are some patches to help alleviate this somewhat, but it's still not a perfectly ideal experience, so I think TWUE is the way to go.

28 year old boomer here, that """game""" was shit when it was new. I'd list the problems but they're basically everything. "combat" (menus), story (lets stop evil guy who wants to destroy world because reasons with the power of friendship!), animation, art/artstyle, sound/music (BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP), technicals etc.

>change game X into game Y
>"game X is good!"
negative IQ.

I've never hacked a rom before. Guess it's time to learn then.

All you do is download a program called Lunar IPS and apply the patch file to the ROM, it's pretty easy.

Nice. Thanks user.

Attached: 1504876560776.jpg (324x600, 75K)

It only patches bugs that don't impact the gameplay (like fixing the Vanish/Death exploit) so as to offer an "authentic" SNES experience. Adding more patches to it may or may not cause problems, so it's your call.

That brings me back

Uh, I'm not sure what to tell you. It works fine for me. I'm using Chrome, although I don't think it would matter either way.

>ampharos poster is a genuine retard
i feel betrayed

Brave New World is supposed to be good. There's also a randomizer with an Ancient Cave option that's kinda neat (turns the game into one big randomized 3 party dungeon).

Yeah, I think it keeps some of the goofy stuff like Psycho Cyan.

>I'm in my prime
And you are wasting it here, retard.

Tried it in Chrome, worked like a charm.

Thanks again friend.

Still one of my favorite games.

Attached: mog-portrait.png (156x160, 2K)

Nice, glad to hear you got it to work.

Game is good.
Best plot of the whole franchise.
Best character group in the franchise
But the combat is pretty boring but gets a pass for obvious reasons
Everybody can learn magic which does reduce the importance of some characters.

Alternately, there's this recent patch
romhacking.net/hacks/4619/

You have to right click and open in another tab on firefox i think

>I thought saying something fucks means it's good? Is it me that's retarded or is it everyone else?
It does. I misread it at first as SUCKS though. I'm used to threads on Yea Forums shitting on games so I automatically read it that way.

Yea Forums will never recover from this

Ah, I haven't heard of this, I'll have to take a look some time. If it's based off of the LoL analysis, then I'm sure it's accurate. It might be a good option for someone who doesn't want the "Woolseyisms" of the original. Still, TWUE is nice for all of the extra stuff that comes packaged with it, it's a pretty complete package. As an aside, I'd like to recommend against a similarly named patch named "FFVI Relocalization Project". It claims to be based off of the GBA script, but makes a lot of the mistakes of the original SNES script.

Here I go.

Attached: FF6.jpg (1280x1065, 266K)

I'm 4 hours in and I like it so far.

>did she just fucking throw a baby?

Attached: 1533922380253.gif (256x188, 3.56M)

By the way, assuming you used the add-on pack, you can sprint with B (or A/X, if it's a Xbox/PS controller). No need to waste your money on Sprint Shoes.

The GBA version makes Sprint Shoes allow for even faster running than just the B button alone to keep them useful. Surprised no patch does that.

33 year old boomer here and you're an actual retard who doesn't actually remember when it was new

Just got to the frozen esper, seems to be working fine. Translation changes are working.

Thank god for a run button.

>romhacking.net/hacks/1386/
>romhacking.net/hacks/4619/

Are these the same translation corrections or are they two different efforts?

I've never played this Final Fantasy but i recently beat IX and now wanna play some of the older ones i didn't before (alrady played VII and VIII so looking at the 2D ones)

Which will give me the best/truest experience?

I was born the year ff7 released and I'm playing it for the first time now
why is it so fun

Attached: 20190825_153512.jpg (958x719, 279K)

They're different efforts.

They're two different efforts, as far as I can tell. I can't comment on FF6 Retranslated because I only just heard about it today, but it says it's based off of the LoL analysis so I'm sure it at least cleans up the issues of the original script. TWUE was rewritten based on the LoL analysis, too, but the author's focus was to keep the spirit of the original English translation (famous lines and all), which some people may not like. Nonetheless, it's still a very good translation that cleans up all of the major issues of original English script, and tries to add in more of the lost nuance of the JP script. I'd personally recommend TWUE just for all of the other stuff it adds, like uncensored sprites, bugfixes, optional addons, etc.

I went into this game with high hopes because of how praised it is. Turned out to be shit. I went into VII thinking it would be shit from people saying it's overrated. Turned out to actually be a masterpiece.

1, 2, and 5 are the only good 2D FF games

zoomer here, grew up with the gba version of ff6. this game is great

Thank you i'll go with that one then

From the looks of it, FFVI Retranslated has many of the same decensorings, bug-fixes, and QoL adjustments as TWUE.

>why yes, I do regularly suplex trains, how could you tell?

Attached: chadin.png (636x286, 81K)

>something about it just didn't grab me
Same, and I even beat the game. Because almost none of the 14-character cast really have any real motivation to be part of the story, most of it felt like aimless sidetracking or straight up filler. Also, a majority of the cast felt quite bland and forgettable, even some of the non-optional ones, and the FORCED AS FUCK Locke-Celes drama just pissed me the fuck off. The worst offender by far were the Esper system and gameplay overall, but that's something everyone agrees on. I'm just not seeing anything redeeming about this game at all, aside from the soundtrack. If there is a *the* 16-bit Final Fantasy, it's V by a landslide.

Attached: 1533515198473.png (5723x5377, 660K)

Ah, somehow I glossed over that. Well, I can't really say much about it, but like I said, if it follows the LoL analysis I'm sure it's at least an accurate translation. Anything past that is probably just preference, since people either love or hate Woolsey (although, that being said, the description says it retains some of the memorable "flavor text", so I wonder if that means the famous lines like "Son of a submariner" and whatnot).

you needed to be 13 years old when you were playing it for the first time, in 1994 with limited video game options... then it was good

>zoomer here! I've come to collect my boomer (You's) by co-opting the opinion (that only exists on the internet) that FFVI is the best! Ty for the gold!

Well, there was a point in time when the entire nation of Britain treated Manic Miner as the second coming of Christ.

The original ampharos poster posts only "ampharos".
