in terms of atmosphere and story, yeah SoC is the best. But the gameplay and mission structure of CoP is objectively better.

Does he really need to? Call of pripyat lost alot with its open world. The game is a glorified monster hunter and with no real hostile humans in the open world the game becomes kinda boring. There are about 2 large gunfights in the game. (The one in the tunnels and the one in Pripyat) as opposed to the many scripted ones and entirely dynamic ones found in SoC and CS. CS in fact has the best gunfight in the entire series, Limansk is very well constructed and feels really fun and challenging to play through

Take off the rose tinted glasses, faggot. Pripyat has the best gameplay of the franchise and it cannot be debated. SoC is the best in terms of plot and atmosphere, but it's buggy as fuck and has all manner of design oversights that weren't fixed until CoP.

Leave big overhauls for later playthrougs. Avoid the "Complete" -mods. Always play on MASTER difficulty for best realism and atmosphere, and disable crosshair.

Don't give up in the beginning! The starting gear sucks ass and first area can be a bit boring.

All are great on their own right, some more than others, much more than others (CS)

But the gameplay in CoP is hands down the best of all, but boring story (interesting settings though)

SoC has the meaningful story and interesting locations (shit gameplay and artifact hunting)

CS is just blanc in all aspects and a way to see Strelok pre-SoC and how things got the way they were in SoC (but it ruins the surprises of SoC and is filler for the most part)

i don't mean containers that magically spawn items when you find their coordinates (CoP was a much better system and you're insane if you prefer SoC stashes), i mean actual areas with backstory and meaning, that you can completely miss on a playthrough. whereas apart from the secret lab at the end, SoC has no areas that aren't part of the main story.

Please understand, I was blessed by the bug gods and made it through the game with a single crash and no other issues. The faction stuff was fun.
I think the next game would be 10/10 if it gave you individual "main quests" based on what faction you join, and at the end gives you a way to cycle back to the point where you decided on the faction. Maybe the result of coming into contact with something similar to the monolith that has proper spacetime altering powers, and once you finish all the quest lines it reveals you had to do it to fix some kinda instability or something and there's an entire new set of areas that have "stabilized pockets" of reality where different situations play out from different factions that you'd helped along the way.

I just started playing pripyat recently and it feels really directionless.
In Chernobyl the game started you in a stalker camp, told you who to go talk to, and your first mission wasn't to far away from the camp.
In pripyat it just dumps you in the middle of nowhere and to go check out some helicopters scattered around the area, feels really aimless and sloppy compared to Chernobyl and it's way harder for me to really get into it

There are some bunkers, and it's the one state in the US where you can own unlicensed machine guns. There are probably abandoned cabins all over the place. But I doubt you'd find much for old factories and shit. I feel like the rust belt is the best region.

Reminder that Freedom does more to protect the zone then Duty. Who was defending the barrier in Clear Sky and Shadow of Chernobyl? Loners and Freedom respectively. Where was Duty? Sitting with their thumbs up their asses in Agroprom and Bar and only going to the barrier when the brain scorcher went down. Otherwise they were trying to fuck Freedom up from behind while they were watching the barrier like niggers.

CoP absolutely has the best design and atmosphere, but it also suffers from being too non-threatening. A-Life is basically doing fuck all in the first couple maps, there's a truce between duty and fagdom, and Pripyat is a ghost town except for a couple of scripted monolith spots. You also get easy and quick access to super effective weapon without going through the hobo phase. Most of the side quests are gold but on replays they lose the novelty, and once you've completed them the map is just barren and empty. I wish it had a couple more underground labs and more to do in Pripyat.

My buddy made a mission in this mod and to this day it's some of the best vidya I've ever played, when it wasn't bugging out or crashing.

We started out in the forest armed with dinky little shotguns and would have to make it to the other side of the map where there was a helicopter that would let us escape the map. Between us and the helicopter there were army patrols, anomalies, enemy helos, bloodsuckers placed in totally deserted villages and cities.

Dying meant restarting the mission from the beginning and it took irl hours to reach the helo. There was a dam chock full of infantry and machine guns right before the clearing where the helicopter was, we made it through once in our hundreds of hours of playtime and were promplty blown out of the sky by an RPG.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. with any sort of multiplayer component is fucking magical. Even that janky-ass piece of shit Stalker Online/sZone was wonderful the times that /vg/ flooded it with people.

It is undeniable the most immersive stalker experience with gasmask overlays, water droplets on mask, wiping blood and water off your mask like metro, being able to see your own legs when looking down, using lighters or glowsticks with bolts, knife or pistol in the other hand. No other mod has all that making it a better CoC. The only thing anomaly has over dead air is you can mod in a storyline/missions

IMO it's CoP. The much larger maps and lower respawn rates really help with the atmosphere, which is what STALKER is all about. The MISERY mod for it is pretty fucking insane too.

STALKER is the only genuine scary game for me, the atmosphere, hearing that gunshot out of nowhere, seeing that weird mutant just walking around in your sights, getting assfucked by a mutant while looting. and its because of this i cant play STALKER for more than an hour at a time. its weird how this relatively unknown game from Ukraine manages to be the only truly scary game.

Also all creatures within a 150 yards shouldn't just immediately run straight at you like you're the only living thing in the zone. Anomaly mod was so bad that a bunch of boars fighting a group of zombies just immediately disengaged when I got within 100 yards and they all just ran straight at me. I kept savescumming and ended up at some perfect distance from the zombies where the boars 'AI' couldn't handle being triggered so much and the boars kept running back and forth between me and the zombies.

Especially AA2 is just a literal spin on the ZoA, which is a direct derivative of AMK.
ZRP on its own is literally just a "bug fixer", with some asterisks - seeing how the user is free to adjust settings on his own.

Well first of all, turn off helicopters. They're bullshit, and buggy, and they completely ruin the game. Pretty much everyone recommends turning them off, so don't worry about anyone implying you're less of a stalker.

And no, Anomaly is pretty much the best all-in-one mod, don't go wasting time on others.

To waste your time with, have fun playing for two hours to get past a single encounter of two dogs and then you run out of all your ammo and have to spend all of your money buying more ammo. Also firing those two clips out of your gun took it from 100% condition to below 25% which means it's going to take 4 hours of scavenging parts and 50,000 rubles to buy all the kits you need just to change out the worn parts for the scavenged ones. Also you need to pay a guy to use his vise which he gives you access to for 30 seconds to do all your shit or you're right back at square one. Also if you fail the RNG while doing any of this then your gun remains broken; welcome to stalker anomaly, the stupidest fucking mod on earth.

Vanilla. It's honestly the best experience for stalkan. Mods aren't making it better, just different and are only good if you want to replay it, but already know everything there is.

Broken, too many basic bugs to make it playable. Just dealing with shit in your inventory is a headache. AI can be completely unresponsive half the time, I dropped it after going past the bridge because of how bad it was.

Honestly you kind of get used to it. The point seems to be to keep you in that hobo phase as long as possible. Regular STALKER you're out of it in like an hour tops if you're unlucky, probably sooner. Having played a lot of Misery I can get geared up pretty quickly now.

I just keep different mod installs for different things depending on what I want to do.
