There's nothing saying that you can't have servants from more recent times, because there is less mystery in the world as time passes, that's generally the accepted reason why there are fewer people summoned as servants in the last 100 or so years compared to earlier history all the way back to the Age of the Gods, which is part of the reason someone like Edison needed to be imbued with additional magic from America's presidents to make his existence as a Servant possible.

The US can really only go as far back as around the time of Salem witch trials, maybe Jamestown if we're pushing it with some exceptions like Hessian Lobo.

Japan on the other hand has more recorded history to pull from going back to the 10th century when Raikou would have lived, so it kind of makes sense

Almost nobody knew who Arash was either until FGO came out. People learned to love him because he had some good scenes and he was useful as a farmer. People can care about any servant as long as they have a good role in the story. Nothing wrong with adding him as a 3* either

Scathach is technically scottish, but she's from an irish legend so I don't know if she'd count. I'm not really familiar with scottish legend to say for sure with some characters, although there are a lot of the knights of the round.

To be fair, Arash has an excellent VA and he was a stand out character in the Camelot chapter. Spartacus is in basically the same position as Arash (1*, good farmer) but nobody gives a shit about him. Chacha as well. By contrast, everybody in F/GO loved Paul Bunyan when she came out, although that was probably due to fast NP + appearing in the manga.

If you treat her like a tool, you'll probably die. Rikudou treated Jack kindly and so had good compatibility with her, but she was also "evil" and spurred on Jack as a serial killer.

Basically, the only ones who'd be able to work well with Jack and reign her in are kind idiots like Shirou, Hakuno or Guda.

Honestly the biggest issue with that characterisation is it requires the viewer to be familiar with events leading up to it, which didn't play out the way they did in Extra. And Venus Saber will always be dumb.

Ultimately I'll always prefer Nero and Tamamo as the more flawed selves they showed in Extra than stuff like the Rome chapter in FGO constantly wanking off how great Nero is. The whole reason Nero was great in the first place was because she was a shit emperor who died an ignoble death but kept striding forward despite it.

But that's not what I'm saying man, the events leading up to Extella are completely different than Extra, what with the whole sub-servant bullshit and all that. Someone who plays Extella right after Extra will be confused because of the disparity between the history they know and what the characters are talking about.

I thought Nero route 1 in Extella was pretty decent. It showed Nero as proud, flawed, confident, and insecure in private moments. The true route just fuck any character progress from the game, though, and F/GO fucked her over worse. I feel a bit sorry for the Nero fans since they got pure Nerowank instead of development for the end of Extella, F/GO, and even Last Encore. And then Extella Link apparently just spent the entire game shitting on her.

I liked Tamamo in Extra and think she got some good bits in F/GO, as few as they were. Her actions in Extella were kind of understandable but felt pretty irrelevant, even if her route had a bittersweet ending.
