Thank fucking god, Trash sub-genre.

and that's fine. I had my fun with it.
Would be cool to have a new unreal tournament though. and I don't mean the open source one, or gears tournament 3

Think a new unreal championship, if marketed right, could be a pretty big it. but epic would just be muddying their own pool with something that could compete with fortnite

Good. Garbage non-thinking games for retards.
>hurr just jump around and shoot the guy

the LAN-times are over. Those were good times.

So since we are now talking about arena shooter what game should I play? Quake? Dusk?

>sub-genre.
Arena shooters were more or less the first thing to come around.

Well maybe if people fucking played them they wouldn't be. Warfork just released and is free. What's your excuse this time?

quake is pretty cool.
the class shit is fucking stupid though

ok

Yes, and Hitler was an evil man, and god is real, and war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.

>tfw will never play vampire slayer again

god i miss it, there is nothing like it.

Gears tournament 3 was a bit of a let down but I had alot fun with it online I remember ctf with those weird hoverboards or some shit

Unreal tournament 2k4 is best all around shit load of modes, extra maps, weapons mods

Arena shooters were only fun if you were a natural with god tier aim or if you are somewhat good and had the autism to spend 100 hours learning the game. Today nobody wants to spend that much time suck at a game before it gets fun.

I still have fun just dueling friends.

>sub genre
more like the progenitor.

Me. Reminds me of the Reflex Arena with its colorful visuals but the sounds are still pretty lame and I am not sure how to feel about the wall jump.

That is exactly what mobafags are doing.

You mean games today are designed with artificial feedback loops in mind. Back in the day you needed to earn your dopamine.

>100 hours learning the game
You need 100 hours to learn how to pick up weapon and shoot? Arenas are literally the most straightforward multiplayer fps possible.

Nigga.. what!?

>play game that is fun right off the bat vs. play a game that requires work

>do the drugs or learn something
yea this is how you sound like

Retard.

>hurr durr i'm a edgy faggot that states controversial opinions as facts, especialy off-topic and wonders why people feel disgusted by my cringe behaviour

Retard.

I was there during their prime and I can tell you that compared to AVP2 and Serious Sam MP they were the shit

UT99, UT2004, and Jedi Academy

Unreal co/op and Star Wars Battlefront II Classic soon I hope

Not true. indie devs keep making afps despite their obvious future of failing to get enough players.

i really wish people played jedi academy more. doesn't help the master server list went down, and you have to actually go out and find the server ips not like anyone goes anywhere other than KR and Jawa

Because the only people who actually play arena shooters are same 10 people who know every map down to the polygon. New players wait 20 minutes to que just to get shit on because the game doesn't teach them anything.

Are you scared?

well it can't be that hard to learn few small maps can it?

it's not impossible though. quake is still fun, it's that mentality that kills the game. there's been tons of new zoomers in esports that have completely surpassed the boomers playing those games non stop. so it's completely stupid to neglect something just because 'people know more than me so why bother'.
educate yourself on the game before you really decide if it's something so impossible.

>forget about arena fps
>warfork released
>forget again
>warspoon released
>forget
>warspork released
>amnesia
>diabetical released

Even in LAN era people preferred playing CS on something like de_dust or cs_assault.
Arena shooters were a niche genre even back then.

Are you posting to actually get together and play stuff, or is this just something?
Because I really do want to play Jedi Academy with people again...

before all that levelling bullshit, bootup the game and play. *EXCELLENT*

Yeah, been hosting for about nine years now. Been doing a lot of stuff lately to overhaul the steam group to make it easier to hop in and play.

The servers are mostly vanilla, UT99 and UT2004 just have the bonus packs and some server side mods to make it feel smoother for people with high pings. Jedi Academy has the bonus packs all the Outcast multiplayer maps added in.

The essential files/patches get a download with a readme so that it's easy to know what you need to install to get the game up-to-date. Most people won't need anything since the Steam and GOG versions are usually up-to-date, but the essential files are mostly an easy drag and drop. There's also a list of commands and fixes for known issues if you happen to have one with any of the games.

RIP

I didn't know it existed. Gonna check it out

first time I heard about it, just played a match and I had a blast

Arena shooters are the most alive they have ever been, overwatch is a booking esport played on live television, on my favorite channel Disney XD. I watch every live event after Peter plays is over and it's packed with fans tuning in for a great time. Arena shooters were given eternal life with overwatch, thanks blizz.
