Both

this

Soulless max-profits corporation vs. talentless hack so full of hubris that pricking him with a needle would make him explode

my dick

Konami wanted the money. But they didn't had to steal the franchise too to turn into a fucking mobile game

Both really.
Konami for being pricks and making Kojima work in something he didn't want to.
Kojima for being a hack that tries to upscale his games without control, until is overbudget or just a shell of what was.

Honestly yes. Kojima fucked up development for MGSV, Konami were also wanting to kill their gaming division because it was barely worth it compared to their gyms and pachinko mines. Hindsight helps a lot but at the time, MGSV was one of the most expensive games, for its development budget at least. So Konami were getting cold feet with MGSV and doubly so as it was probably only halfway done, maybe two thirds at best.

Would have been nice for MGSV to get the budget and time it needed, the game would have been great. Then afterwards they could kick Hackima to the curb.

>Company wants to make more money
Wow shame on them haha. Totally their fault that nips don't want video games and buy mobile shit en mass.

The only wrong thing Kojima did was joining Konami any fag who say otherwise is paid shill or retarded zoomer.

I love Kojima, but he needs to always be on a leash. Whether it be financial or technologically.

Very true. He is pretty much the ultimate ideas guy, so needs to be kept in check. He also tried to do simultaneous projects with Silent Hills and MGSV. That's just bad oversight and biting more than you can chew.

Konami is making gyms now?

Jojima released the PT trailer early to try to force Konami to keep him employed. I'm glad it backfired on him.

Reminder that Metal Gear Social Ops was a thing back when Kojima was at Konami.

Konami don't need to fire developers who make less money than those who made mobile games. Kojima have a higher reputation so he can't make zoomer mobile games, he just wanted to keep doing his thing. But then they fired him because all they need to sell is cellphone games for zoomer brainlets. So now Kojima keeps doing his games in Sony and they wouldn't go so low as to sell cellphone games because if they do they will loose their console market and that's exactly what Konami is doing against them

Konami makes literally everything

But good games

Except videogames. It's like Yea Forums incarnate.

Konami did more for Yea Forums in their 2010 E3 conference than any company has ever managed.

The budget was never the issue due to having to make the fox engine that would be used in future games like that soccer one. Konami wanted to change shift due to their phone games making a cool million daily while being incredibly cheap to make. Konami was super downsizing Kojima because phone games and microtrans were the future and Kojima wasn't down for that.

2010 was 9 years ago though. A lot has changed since.

Why keep Kojima and his games that require millions of dollar to be made and take years to finish when you can shit out extremely low effort mobilecancer that makes millions DAILY? There is no reason to care about the console market when you can put additional effort into making even more mobileshit to make even more millions a day, makes perfect sense from a business perspective.

This. The phone money is easy money.

Millions invested in Kojima turn into more millions. Is not as much as mobile, but they still lost a few millions when they fired Kojima

At the same time Kojima has gone of the rails with his budgets, hiring b-list celebrities for very little pay off would be sort of off putting for any studios, I'm sure Sony is already regretting bankrolling Death Stranding.

Why do people keep bring up this budget issue? Phantom pain paid for it's development multiple times on the first day of release.

I'm kind of hoping Death Stranding flops a bit so he comes back down to earth

After Konami fired him I was hoping he'd go to Nintendo or Microsoft instead of Sony because I knew exactly what they'd do- throw blank cheques at him and encourage his massive ego

he makes great games but all the self aggrandising, celebrity schmoozing, and industry fellatio by people who probably never even played the old Metal Gear games -let alone Snatcher or Policenauts- is tiresome

Only because of the microtransactions, something that Kojimbo didn't want to include.

Because they prefer cheap games. But Kojima thinks big

Considering the gigantic marketing campaign and the fact that it's the first mgs game that releases during the "normalfags buy any game that's marketed enough" era, it's not really surprising. 10 years ago it would have sunk both kojima and konami. The actors still have don't much of a reason to be here though.

what the hell is that?

>Yea Forums hatefag hoping a game turns out shit so the developer starts doing down to earth mobile games
>celebrity schmoozing, and industry fellatio by people who probably never even played the old Metal Gear games -let alone Snatcher or Policenauts- is tiresome
That also includes the corporate bosses who fired him that didn't give a fuck about what his games are about

I feel you. I don't want Death Stranding to fail, but I would like or him to be metaphorically slapped back to reality.

Nothing of substance. Just more retentious nonsense from a jumped-up fraud

Konami obviously. See this video (YouTube):

You're muddying the waters in Konamis favor.

Does he think he's some kind of philosopher?

But what "permission" does he have to do that alone? Releasing a product has millions of validation processes. Not to mention Sony's internal testing of games. Konami could have intervened until the game is on the store.

>PT trailer was to try to force Konami to keep him employed.
He knew he was fired at that time he was already getting his contract with Sony.
>I'm glad it backfired on him.
Shills are now using Jojima instead of Kojimbo?

Pretentious shit he saw from some of western products, thought it was cool.

10 years ago they released MGS4 which already had a budget of over $60 million and made a big profit. Budget wasn't the problem, they just wanted quicker profits from phone games.

They wanted Kojima to make phone games

He actually went in person to see Reedus and Del Toro to ask them if they were okay with him fucking Konami over.

wan mirrion troobs

Kojima was there while a mobile game of the series was in development.
Kojima also used a shitton of company money to make stupid shit for his games, eating into profits for no good reason.
They didn't "steal" the franchise, they always owned it- the only person in this scenario who stole was Kojima because that stupid fuck can't come up with an "idea" without watching a Hollywood movie to steal his plot, character names and camera angles for cutscenes from.

redpilled and based Kojimbo.

The idea that Kojima was solely in the wrong for the cost of his projects is idiotic. The biggest sunk cost, Fox Engine, wasn't something solely he had a hand in. Konami agreed to that shit for the same exact reason every single other publisher tried to shit out their own engine five years ago (EA with Frostbite, Square with Luminous etc.). They wanted to stop paying companies like Epic a licensing cut for use of Unreal.

The producer for mgs4 said that 60 million number was wrong and just speculation from an interview where someone claimed they needed to sell a million copies to make a profit and the actual budget was lower than this. MGS4 was also riding on the still very high popularity of the series at the time even though is was a, I won't say a bad game, but at least not as good as the ones that came before.

>guy who makes artsy games with a unique tone gets unlimited budget
Explain how you lose out here.

Why would you want him to work with people who would give him less money? Surely you as a consumer could only benefit from Sony showering his project with money. You get his work (which you've said you like) with full creative freedom and a big budget.

Do you just not like celebrities being involved?

a walking sim

a fucking walking sim

>They wanted to stop paying companies like Epic a licensing cut for use of Unreal.

So in a roundabout way, Cliffy B was responsible for Kojima getting fired.

>Pretentious
You don't even know what the word means. It doesn't mean "I don't get it, that's stupid."

epic bait bro! sure you will get 15 replies to that! haHa

>Kojima also used a shitton of company money to make stupid shit for his games, eating into profits for no good reason.
More bullshit. Explain how much he had to use comparing with other games at the time. You say stupid shit without telling what it was. Says he made no profit without telling which game did not make profit. Even his last unfinished game turned into more profit to Konami than their last zombie game from the same stolen franchise.
>the only person in this scenario who stole was Kojima because that stupid fuck can't come up with an "idea" without watching a Hollywood movie to steal his plot, character names and camera angles for cutscenes from.
That Hollywood shit only happens on the cutscenes of his games like any movie you see these days. Now gameplay is different from that and he has been doing this before any fag has done in other games. He is the first one who made stealth non-combat games style possible

>a fucking walking simula-

Not really. Epic/Unreal didn't do anything wrong per se, nor did any other notable engine publisher that existed before.

The issue is that most publishers like Square, EA and Konami underestimated just how hard it is to build an engine that is actually reasonably easy to work with. With how important Engines are to games, the owner of the engine takes a pretty fucking reasonable solid cut of sales. And big pubs thought they could get around that and take more for themselves by just making their own engine. The one issue all three ran into with these things is that working with a new engine is hard and working on without experience or documentation is even harder. Meanwhile these people already know engines like Unreal and Unity very well from working on games in them before.

His games have only gotten more and more pretentious with time

Ironically MGSV was surprisingly low key and grounded by his standards, and all the better for it, but Death Stranding is absolutely batshit off the rails

Be prepared for the deluge of people who cite it as a genius masterpiece because simply because it's impressively confusing to them

Kojima's best works were back in the '80s/'90s, back when he tried to appeal to the average gamer, and before he started custom making games for his retarded audience

What is 'pretentious' about Death Stranding

Sounds like a walking sim.

>Uses reddit spacing
>Posts unrelated pic to get better attention
>Complains that a game is pretentious
>Says it's better to have lower standard games
>Says game was grounded by Kojima standards as he was the one who decided to release the game unfinished
>Criticizes a new unreleased game that has not even played.
Yea Forums

Then any open world game is a walking sim to you

The budget was clearly a fucking issue because he ws fired over it. God you're an idiot. No one wastes 80 million dollars and just gets away with it in any other profession, retard.

>The budget was clearly a fucking issue because he ws fired over it.
Implying Konami is bankrupt
>80 million dollars
Any source for this shit? The money he was gonna spend on Konami he is now spending in Sony anyway. Why aren't they firing him for that

problem with reddit, channer?

How is it a waste if he made back the budget over twice in profit?

>Admitting to being a Redditor
Just when I thought this site couldn't go any further down the drain

>No one wastes 80 million dollars and just gets away with it in any other profession
Clearly you don’t know much about the film industry

>Fag clearly admits he is a plebbit
Yea Forums

Shills always forget about his profit

Shills just made a new thread
