I'm looking for a new MMO to play, is FFXIV worth it? Should I even bother with it if I'm so late to the party? I heard they're on the 4th expansion already... Do the early levelling areas and dungeons have enough players or will the queues be absolutely dead?

bump

Yeah, it's very easy to catch up in the game.
Also, you'll easily get people for dungeons and stuff because on how the daily roulette works.

Basically, max level players can get grabbed for low level dungeons and get their gear and level put at the level of the dungeon so they aren't completely overpowering everything and you can run the dungeon normally.

But why would a high level player play in a low level dungeon?

Anyone else going to try Astellia? I just bought the cheapest package. Launches at September 27th

Not at all. Play wow classic.

Because of the duty/daily roulette system.

They get bonus exp, materia or tomestones (stuff you need to buy gear) when they run those duties daily.

Because you can get xp, tomestomes, and materia

Do they have Japanese/Asian servers?

What if I like to autistically solo quests and farm for crafting materials and fish?

What's a good class to solo with? Is weeaboo ninja viable?

Just my suggestion? Try Black Mage, they are pure DPS.

Well, there's a lot of side quests in the game if that's your thing.
Also Fisher or crafter are their own job with their own personal level, skills or rotation for crafter, it's pretty deep.

you can play all jobs on one character, but you have to level them individually, so plenty of players will be going back to old content to level up, also duty finder can match you with high level players who are levelling with their roulettes
also I'm pretty sure the newbie population is still pretty strong on most servers, you should be fine, just don't be that dickhead who plays at 3 AM and wonders why queues are slow

>What if I like to autistically solo quests and farm for crafting materials and fish?
You can do that all you want, just be warned that fishing is heavily rng-based.
>What's a good class to solo with?
Any class (Even the ones with low potencies like AST and RDM) is perfectly viable so just play what you feel like
>Is weeaboo ninja viable?
Good ninjas are appreciated since they can put vulnerability down on bosses. Playing NIN well is hard if you have a bad ping though and they have the lowest average DPS of the physical melee jobs.

do people still care about NIN's vuln down with the changes to fflogs?

Nah it's gay as fuck bro. Go Classic.

>It's an OP pretends he's new to start an FFXIV thread episode
These threads always hit bump limit. No need to try so hard.

>solo
you will be paired up for dungeons occasionally, but its completely fine, you don't have to interact with your party in any meaningful way in old dungeons, Ninja is fine for levelling, its likely getting a bit of a rework soon too, so if you want to be a weebfag, Ninja and Samurai are fun
also crafting/gathering is pretty extensive, you should have plenty to keep you interested
NIN's personal DPS is so low that Trick Attack simply isn't enough to make up the deficit

>just don't be that dickhead who plays at 3 AM and wonders why queues are slow
I've got a job, so I won't be playing at 3AM for sure. I'm going to pick one of the Japanese servers, does anyone know what to recommend? Any differences?

I'm also thinking of trying out FF14 but the only MMO I've ever played was Ragnarok Online back in the day and the expansion shit is confusing

You have to buy the game AND subscribe, right? Which version is the latest one?

>seething wowlet angry that new people are actually playing the better MMO

It does come with a sub fee. For the expansions, think of it like this.

1) Go with the starter edition and play through that.
2) When you're ready for the full version of the game, get Shadowbringers.

No.

Damn, you caught me, mother fucker.

Jokes on you. I play at 4am.

SAY MY NAME!!
BUY MY GAME!

I believe its a western release only, europe+burgerland.

what do you want to achieve in an MMO, if u want an mmo that has deep combat and where a more skilled and invested player is way stronger that a lesser one, play bdo

Attached: BDO ninja.jpg (1280x720, 137K)

>Grindy gook garbage
No thanks.

I recommend Tonberry since it has the highest amount of English speaking players. If it's congested, then Kujata, Atomos or Masamune are good backups.

TODD HOW-ARD!

>PvP matches are decide by gear 90% of the time
Nice "deep" and "skill" based combat
And in PvE you just spam AoE like a retard

Just play WoW Classic like everyone else on Tuesday.

thats not true, its dependant on class. eg a mid tier ninja can burst down a softcap 300dp character if he knows what hes doing, I.e layering the correct unique attack modifiers on each differing CC

grind is good, the more grind = more power, that sets the true time invested players from the scrubs

It's absolutely worth it
Not at all too late
3rd expansion just started
Early content has enough players but DPS queues during off times might be half an hour if you're not queuing for daily bonus roulettes. (You can do other stuff during queues, not like you're just sitting around)

Biggest downside to XIV are the first 40 levels or so, they are quite slow. Both gameplay and story wise. And it will take you a lot of hours to get past 40 but the game picks up otherwise not this many people would stick with it.

Don't forget the part where like everyone else he stops playing a few weeks in after the nostalgia wears off or gets filtered by the archaicness of vanilla wow.

>Nice "deep" and "skill" based combat
BDO does have skill based combat but only if you grind to stay relevant.
What does it cost to stay relevant?

Attached: Djc0mQ-X0AIwarm.jpg (768x321, 23K)

desu nearing the mid tier of the game, skill is more important. roughly around 400ish hours played to be good. Or if youre rng carried or guild carried, a whole lot faster

I played WoW and didn’t enjoy it. The game was just boring and ugly.

BDOs content is really guild dependant, a good guild will carry you a long way. however, it is extremely beautiful

FFXIV content can get to a point where you will unsub or try to do something else. Its a really casual mmo/single player mmo. if you want a hardcore mmo, pick something else, otherwise it's probably the best mmo in the market even when compared to wow.

just get the free trial

>be level 60+
>do leveling roulette
>end up in a level 16-20 dungeon, where you have 2-3 skills and no AOEs
>there's one sprout in the party who watches every single cutscene

Aren't you glad that the Ultima cutscenes are no longer skippable :)

>there's one sprout in the party who watches every single cutscene
Why wouldn't they?

UNLEASH DILATIMA

Attached: lahabrea.jpg (1117x1080, 528K)

Unlike WoW this is a theme park mmo that was designed around being a theme park mmo while WoW was a RPG mmo that was twisted into a shit house theme park mmo

Tonberry is the 'main' English server but it's unlikely to have free slots, Kujata has the second most English players I think.
Doesn't really matter though, since you can do content with all players in the same data center, and you can even visit other worlds.
