Say what you will, but Elder Scrolls 3 - 5 have great atmosphere

I know one thing Morrowind has no business being on that list.
Replace it with Oblivion.

this

FFVII

get nocturne out of there, just because shit is empty doesnt make it atmospheric. other smt games have way better atmosphere.

No Bioshock?

Would you call FEAR atmosphere?
Very good, sure, but ultimately gameplay-oriented, you don't spend much time soaking in any environments. Which is good, because they're all boxy ass.

NieR

Zeno Clash for that hieronymus bosch aesthetic.

An objective definition on the requirements

It's not hard. Literally any game that has sucked you in and immersed you into the world it has.

Guild Wars

>other smt games have way better atmosphere.
This, like Soul Hackers.

List needs the first Diablo.

you may notice if you have a keen eye that the chart isn't listing games that have great atmosphere, merely games that have a dark atmosphere.

Ace Combat Zero

Yume Nikki

Return of the Obra Din

why is MGS1 on there but 2 isn't?
2s atmosphere is legendary especially at the end

dark wood deserves to be on there
diablo too

The Void

haunting ground might be a good one too

Watchdogs 1

yea for real why the fuck is bloodbourne on there when dark souls exists or at least have dark souls on there too

The Witcher 1

Any of the first 4 Hitman games. Blood Money should definitely be in the list. Also, SWAT 4 and Splinter Cell 1.

Remove Fear. It is a great game but atmosphere is terrible. Nothing but office buildings and gameplay loop being - fight, jumpscare repeat.

Literal perfect list but swap Shadow of the Colossus for the PS4 re-release. Unless they made some dumb changes I don't know about it's probably the definitive version.

Unless you're emulating, the PS2 version probably emulates just fine.

great post!

Valkyrie Profile has gorgeous prerendered visuals and extremely depressing and melancholy themes running throughout it.

Vagrant Story has a beautiful and cohesive artstyle while managing to capture the alienating and isolating atmosphere of a long deserted city corrupted by soul-devouring darkness

Pathologic 2
Underrail
Kenshi
Banished
Darkwood

Fallout 3.

I like NV but you trip over landmarks, FO3 is really barren and feels somewhat melancholic.

this is it bros

Demons Souls has way better atmosphere than Bloodborne

user you have been in a coma for quite some time.

Yes, yes I know you would like to know how long.

It's been 8 years.

Stick of Truth is very atmospheric. It captures that childhood play pretend at your friends house feeling surprisingly well.

Ahem.

Attached: Bloodborne Cinegrid 5.jpg (3264x2238, 3.39M)

lol no, the PS4 version is a decent remake and the 60fps are cool but holy shit, they really fucked the atmosphere and tone of the original game trying to achieve realistic graphics (even Wander's character model looks weird as fuck compared to the original PS2 version).

>red sewers
>atmospheric

I recently played an old adventure game called DreamWeb. It was pretty damn atmospheric, although I'm not sure I'd recommend it as a game.

imagine your life moving like this. 8 years. this is the 35 year old guy who goes on and on about how it seems like "just yesterday" that he was a kid.

Can't believe it's not already on the list.
No other game really gave You this feeling of being stranded on a beautiful, hostile world.

the game evokes fear in me to this day, for some reason

RDR2 is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played, exceeding even VtMB but you'll never acknowledge it because it's not pseud and 2deep4u enough
