Hollow Knight is one of the best performing indie games on the Switch, with Silksong being a console exclusive. The aesthetics would fit very well, and it is easy to draw up a moveset for The Knight.
Rex and Pyra make sense as an additional Xenoblade rep, though if they're going to make it, it would likely be as a bonus fighter. There is tons of great tracks that can be added from X, 2, and Torna, and I think blade swapping has potential to add additional reps like Elma & KOS-MOS alongside Pyra/Mythra

Capcom content has been featured in Smash in Smash 4, and has had two franchises featured: Mega Man and Street Fighter.
Each character was faithful and the bonus additional content was plentiful. To be concise, there are no issues with licensing.
Capcom itself has a large variety of huge iconic games and characters. Besides SF and Mega Man, there's Resident Evil, Ghosts n Goblins, Darkstalkers, Okami...it has a huge library of franchises, and ones with strong vidya history.
Judging by the Mii Costumes following the two DLC characters released so far, they have been owned by the company; the Sonic costumes for Sega and the DQ costumes for Square. The Sonic costumes were returning from Smash 4, which leads me to believe that the other companies featured in Smash 4 will have the Mii Costumes owned by them make a return with a character also owned by them. Hence a Capcom rep, since there were Capcom costumes in 4 (like the X/Zero ones) that have yet to make a return.

The Ace Attorney franchise is very close to Nintendo, with EVERY SINGLE game releasing first on a Nintendo platform. Except one weird spinoff on phones but whatever.
The Ace Attorney games are well-known in the gaming community. You can't tell me you haven't heard someone referencing the ever-so iconic "Objection!" or the other courtroom scenes
Yes, Phoenix was already in MvC3. But this doesn't mean anything, as other 3rd party characters with fightan appearances (such as Mega Man and Ryu, even Snake) weren't excluded. In fact I'd just say a Smash inclusion would mean that they could build their own moveset, removed from MvC3.
Phoenix is the well-known protagonist of the series and has had strong fan backing. There was one Reddit poll that featured him in 7th place, and another where he was pretty high up. Point being, this reflects the ballot, which means he's on Ninty's radar.
Plus I think he'd be cool so yeah he's in
