Hoy! Hold it right there, small fry!
soul
It felt very Zelda 1-esque that you actually need to seek out and remember information from NPCs
for some reason the less development time zelda game has, the better quality are
I always believed soul was a buzzword until I played BotW.
It's the best one from a gameplay perspective easily, yet I feel no inclination to replay it
>>Better than subsequent Zeldas that were delayed multiple times
It wasn't. The pacing and dungeons are proof of this.
>TP is delayed.
Has even worse pacing
I'll never understand this
That's actually a great point. I think it has less to do with development time and more to do with that they went with a shitty, ultra-handholdy, linear direction for the latter two games following it, not to mention the constant filler both had, and I'm saying this as someone who liked SS. At least WW got right to the point for the most part.
>>TP is delayed.
Only the first half, then it gets better. WW's pace stays consistently bad, same for SS.
>then it gets better
There's tons of bullshit in the second half too
>Following the Yeti in the blizzard
>Retreading the Sacred Grove
>Everything with getting back Ilia's memory
>>Following the Yeti in the blizzard
That part was great tho, especially the snowboarding that came after.
I actually stopped my second playthrough of TP during the part right before the City in the Sky precisely because of shit like this. Fuck that filler bullshit. Probably the most frustrating, tedious, boring Zelda game ever made.
Miyamoto himself plays the violin during the intro. That alone should tell you that they poured more love and care than most devs do. WW is a great game despite its flaws, the art and music alone push it beyond it's brethren.
I wouldn't say beyond but it stands with them in a way it shouldn't
Snowboarding was good, but I hate having to go around to get the scent of the reekfish
It's not though.
>Probably the most frustrating, tedious, boring Zelda game ever made.
SS takes that spot desu. Awful, awful game that made the series shittier.
>better than subsequent zeldas
>worst dungeons in the series
>getting anywhere is a huge pain until song of storms, then it's just a moderate pain
>triforce quest filler
>SS takes that spot desu. Awful, awful game that made the series shittier.
I still contend that SS was actually good, if flawed. It did share a lot of the same issues that TP had but at least it tried to be different from OoT. At least it had some interesting ideas, like the Metroidvania-esque overworld areas, and the motion controls. Plus it had better combat that at least tried to be challenging, unlike TP. It also had a beautiful art style unlike TP's drab look.
>>worst dungeons in the series
I will never get this meme. It's dungeons don't stand out to me as any better or worse than the other Zeldas of that era
>It also had a beautiful art style
Eww no, it was the bastard child of TP and WW without any of the positives.
the ocean map allowed them to focus extra attention on the islands and make each one unique.
also the art design was the best in the series
You can post your dungeons chart in every Zelad thread and it still won't save WW's lackluster dungeons.
I'll post it until it's refuted in any meaningful way by the NPCs
>they named it "Skyward Sword" because they couldn't figure out how to stop Link from retardedly holding his sword upward like an idiot most of the time thanks to the motion controls.
Slick as ever, Japan.
It looks good though. The impressionist painting look they were going for really stands out and is really cool and unique. I've seen some Dolphin screenshots that showed off how good the game looked.
Motion controls are not a good idea. It's always been a stupid gimmick. The entire game felt so fucking uninspired, like they were making a new zelda game despite not having any real interest in making one.
Its the only 3d zelda I can actually stomach. Every single other 3d zelda is absolutely unpalatable. LoZ is peak 2d zelda and WW is peak 3d zelda
>It looks good though.
It doesn't. Link looked his worst because of the awful style.
if it didn't have the final fight, WW would of been garbage
The ending is the most important part of any game.
If it's rushed Miyamoto can't stick his head in and force shitty ideas
Why should anyone care about subjective ratings without any explanation or substance behind them? It just seems like bait.
>Why should anyone care about subjective ratings without any explanation or substance behind them? It just seems like bait.
That's exactly what I say when people bitch about the dungeons in WW. Should it have had more? Yes. Were the ones in the game the best in the series? No. Were they utterly awful? Also no
>Were they utterly awful? Also no
Worse, they were boring. If they were train wrecks, then there would be some actual discussions.
This may be true, but I'll take boring over a train wreck like Great Bay, especially in a game like WW where the dungeons are not the main draw.
Why didn't you like BotW?
The artwork for SS is 10/10. Zelda looks the best she ever did.
The actual game did not turn out like the artwork unfortunately.
Game zelda has a huge honking nose that looks off whereas the artwork has no such thing.
If this and MM are anything to go by, Aonuma tends to do better under pressure, same as Kojima.
>Zelda looks the best she ever did.
Toon and BotW are cuter
>Zelda looks the best she ever did.
TP Zelda stole the show whenever she was on screen.
She spends most of the game in a burka
