>I actually understand why Delta did the things in ZTD. It was the best way he could come up with to ready all the SHIFTers he could gather to help stop the TRUE world ending catastrophe. He's still a dumbass old man, but he did what he had to do to help prevent complete human annihalation
>The ZTD Q=Delta twist is one of the dumbest things ever. Mira and Eric also fucking suck
>As someone that didn't follow the ZTD release hype, I actually enjoyed the game as it is, but I can see why people were pissed off due to ending in another sequel bait
>That being said, I'd love to see how the next nonary games would play out with 6 -7 fully developed SHIFTers in the cast.
Also, Alice is super fucking hot. She can be a ruthless bitch at times, but she is super hot.
Delta's motives are good and perfectly fit the themes and plots of VLR and ZTD. I don't understand why people hate the ending. Of course, having your villain say "COMPLEX MOTIVES" before describing his not-that-complex motives is silly.
>why Delta did the things in ZTD. It was the best way he could come up with to ready all the SHIFTers The problem is that this was already the plot for VLR. Future Akane was "readying" Sigma and Phi so that they could "face the real danger". That plot being recycled again was incredibly lazy and unsatisfying
Jonathan Torres
Why did they change the artist for the 3rd game?
Ryan Green
I can see that, but I think the execution was decent enough. Also, VLR Akan couldn't have known abou the 100% genocide ending in the VLR timeline because she only develops her SHIFTer powers completely at a younger age in the true timeline of ZTD. She did imply that she only got full grasp of her power around the time Sigma was on the moon in the VLR timeline. The ending in VLR where young Sigma realizes he lost his limbs and eye implies that the Akane in that timeline wasn't fully aware of all her powers at that point in time.
Bentley Gutierrez
I actually felt for Diana and Sigma. That must have been the shittiest timeline ever.
Nathaniel Hall
Probably to hide Diana = Luna
Ryder Turner
>I don't understand why people hate the ending. Because it's the same shit we went through in the previous game, with Delta's motivation being recycled from 999 and VLR. Doesn't help that the huge Free the Soul plotline was completely dropped with Brother suddenly being a "good guy" all along.
To be fair, Sigma did explain that he couldn't quitecopy Diana completely well with Luna. An art style shift just to explain that was not required, just make her design different enough so people wouldn't match them instantly.
As someone that played all 3 games in sequence after that big steam sale, I didn't feel tired of it because, from my understanding, ZTD was pretty much a huge training arc to get tons of SHIFTers ready to deal with the actual big threat.
It could have been handled better, but I was satisfied enough with the final reason about why it happened.
Also, the VLR plot was around the experiment to see if SHIFTers could even be trained. Since Sigma and Akane managed to prove that they CAN be trained, Delta had enough material to develop his own experiment to train as many SHIFTers as possible.
William Gutierrez
If we assume the story continues, it might be erroneous to assume Delta's only motives were to train the shifters. He could even be feigning benevolence to trick the crew into doing his evil bidding. Or something else stupid. God it was stupid
Wyatt Edwards
>VLR plot was around the experiment to see if SHIFTers could even be trained No VLR was all about training Sigma and Phi to prevent the R6 outbreak, they already knew that they could be trained. The hook of the sequel was that we have trained Shifters actually preventing the apocalypse from happening, not another training session in yet another controlled environment.
Juan Rogers
That was the idea, but they made it pretty clear that they did not know what happened in the Mars training camp in the VLR timeline. They thought they were going into the Mars training site to prevent the outbreak, but Delta subverted their expectations by telling them that the R-6 outbreak was Plan B to prevent the complete humanity extinction epidemic.
And no, they did NOT 100% knew they could be trained because they had to develop the whole ambidextrous game setting to get them to train. VLR Akane even said she was willing to die to see this project through.
The timeline where they manage to deactivate all the bombs only came around once after several failed.
Aiden Scott
>Delta subverted their expectations And then the game turned out to be a retread of 999 gotta recreate the Decision game so I can exist and VLR gotta train those Shifters to fight the real bad guy It adds nothing new or interesting and doesn't expand on the plot threads set up by VLR >they did NOT 100% knew they could be trained The Ambidex game exists ONLY because they could be trained. Young Sigma could only recreate the project because he went through it once and traveled through time. That's the whole point.
Michael Sanchez
>It adds nothing new or interesting and doesn't expand on the plot threads set up by VLR
I can agree with that. I enjoyed the game for what it was and how it explained and developed some character's backgrounds, but I can't deny it was pretty thin in actual overall plot development.
>Young Sigma could only recreate the project because he went through it once and traveled through time.
I understand that, but Akane's speech at the end of the VLR to the participants of the experiment made it sound like they weren't 100% confident it would got perfectly. It was not like the 999 case where Akane knew for a fact the original experiment ended well so she could recreate it. This time multiple timelines were involved and while Sigma, as a participant, was unaware of the nuances of the experiment until the very end. Lots of ways to fuck up, which did fuck up.
I think making the same argument as the participants of ZTD at the end of the game where they all complained that there was no way for Delta to actually know things would work out except for everything working out in the end, which is something that usually happens in games with timelines shenanigans.
Christopher Edwards
>Akane knew for a fact the original experiment ended well so she could recreate it Not "could" but "had to" Ambidex game would in this case be no different. Even if VLR took place in the ZTD good end timeline, future Akane would still have to recreate the events of the Ambidex game knowing full well that the Decision game was bullshit
The stories turn into layers and layers of bullshit. It's really unsatisfying that there's no substance underneath it all, ZTD was supposed to be that substance
Adrian Nguyen
All fuck ups were part of the project. They knew the outcome before the experiment started because it was a success once and don't get me started on Akane basically being able to talk to all her future selves.. The thing they weren't sure about is how to actually change things in the test facility, as the only reason the VLR timeline exists in the first place is Sigma fucking up in the past.
Jace Ross
In VLR Akane is a timelord existing with one consciousness across her whole life. When Sigma is sent to 2027, her young self just continues the conversation right where her old self left off with "don't worry, I didn't really stab you, so anyway...", and then she unflinchingly watches the reactors go off like she was watching paint dry. She'd already mastered her power over the meme field before 999 takes place (her and Santa get the money and hired help to fund the nonary game by using Akane's future sight to cheat on the stock market).
Ryder Barnes
My favourite ending in ZTD is the one that leads to VLR. Despite how dumb Carlos and Mira are, I love what they did with Junpei and Akane. Going into ZTD, we were expecting an explanation for "6 of us are dead" from VLR. How they made that happen in ZTD is the best thing about that game.
Andrew Davis
I thought the stock market "cheating" were just them investing in the drug company Ace created when the made the super anesthesic with the mandrake root in All-Ice's coffin.
Michael Bell
>Well, the 12 year-old Akane saw through the eyes of Junpei 9 years in the future that Cradle Pharmaceutical would suddenly become a huge company. She told her brother, Aoi/Santa, to buy stock in Cradle Pharmaceutical when they were cheap, so they made a ton of money when it was eventually listed on the stock exchange. They took that money and invested in other stocks and increased their fortune. Before long they were millionaires and eventually formed an organization to help with the execution of their plans. It wasn't just the 2 of them doing everything: They had dozens of underlings working for them. (Santa buying stocks is mentioned in the game itself as well.)
Jacob Barnes
999 and VLR are 9/10 ZTD is a 6/10, which ruins the fuckin joke I was going to make frick
