>now freely crosses the line between life and death, and the only way to defeat him is to return his HP to exactly 0, reducing him to nothing at all

I dropped the first game because the combat was too fucking slow. Is 2 like that too or is there an option to make the animations faster?

The only close thing that comes to mind is Planescape Torment with how many times you died.

>boss has AOE move with high chance of instant death
>game over when your character dies

FFXIII-2 can cause this during battles but after it's restored.

>dual boss

>your max health is 999

and that's why morgana is a shit in persona 5,

paper mario and the thousand year door final fight was hard. I had to grind so that I got a level up and the free full health that comes with it after defeating the first boss

literally these two nig nogs

Attached: Roeas_&_Castanea.jpg (1280x720, 191K)

Seriously, what game? Dragon quest raises the price each time you pay to revive a party member, but punishing the player for saving seems bizarre. The only close thing I can think of is BoF5 and its save token system, but it's built to be replayed without losing leveling progress.

Dofus

>gameplay is based around inflicting combos to the ennemies
>bosses aren't affected by hitsun and can't be combo'd

Ehrgeiz had another game inside, a sort of quest mode, and in that one you could save at any time but you had to pay gold to do it and the amount scaled with your level. That's the closest thing I can think of when I think "punishing the player for saving".

Ronaldo is such a CHAD.

Destroy All Humans 2 had a boss that had more lives the number of times you died but i've never seen one about saving.

I always just google it. If I went through the trouble of learning scan or read HP in an rpg they can fuck themselves for pulling that. I'm googling it.

Attached: Failing an Escort Mission.webm (960x960, 1.48M)

Even worse. The scan ability takes up an ability slot which are limited in what you can bring into battle ontop of taking a turn.

>Game rewards you for using status effects on your enemies and yourself

>Boss is a human enemy like you
>He's strong as fuck
>As many tries you beat him, and he drops his weapon and armour
>It's the worst in the game, the boss was actually pulling through using his own strength and skill

final family

I remember this in BoI (can't remember if it was Rebirth or Antibirth). Is there anything else that does it?

>boss revives after dying once
>boss can bullshit a power buff + heavy attack OHKO

>Boss's name starts out scrambled, but slowly deciphers as you deal damage to them.
>During the boss's last phase, the sky slowly becomes covered by two curtains coming together, and the boss dies the instant they completely block out the sky.

Put a middle tier for
>defeat unstoppable boss in 1st encounter
>they enter a new form and beat you but you get exp anyways

I think there's a shard in Bloodstained that boosts your stats with your money, but no money cap increase AFAIK.
Also Money=Power was in the original flash version of BoI I'm fairly certain.

Sounds like an in-cohesive piece of garbage.

>Boss has an attack that

>beat boss
>another one shows up
>ANOTHER one shows up

I haven't gotten to bloodstained yet but that's good to know.

Also, I wasn't sure about money=power. I played Flash for such a short time it all gets scrambled in my head.

A-user? user?

fucking watcher knights

>The boss can stun you
>stuns the healer twice by pure chance

>it's a boss where the rest show up on a timer so the difficulty is directly tied to a DPS check

>boss is intentionally unbeatable and you're supposed to lose

Not exactly the same but in FFV one of the Samurai job skills is literally throwing Gil at your enemies
It does a crapton of damage at higher job levels and by the time you even get it you should already be swimming on Gil

This happened to me in P5 since I forgot to fuse something with instadeath resist.

Sekiro is just a weird game in general when it comes to balance.

I'm trying to think of a single JRPG that didn't end with me panicking and alternating between revives. I don't want to play whatever game you're talking about.

BOF4?

>Enemies cannot be hit until they hit you
>Enemies don't drop EXP when defeated
>Final boss is inmune to status
>Enemies can stack debuffs

>Enemy pulls the final form cliche out of their ass, and announces it

It's perfectly coherent.

>the game's superbosses are random encounters

>Game has hit points
>Enemy has no life bar or even something to see their health aside from when they're near death
These numbers mean nothing to me, Monster Hunter.

>final boss is your dad
