If you’re comparing Kirby games to Ds then these games are too simple for you. You eat creatures and gain powers, explore level, kill enemies and bosses. Rinse and repeat for the most part. The story usually is about getting back food someone stole from you but it varies game to game. Kirby is cuter than you!

But once he absorbs something's power, he becomes an actual threat and can wipe out enemies. Later games make it even more ridiculous with how Kirby summons giant mechas or uses massive lasers and energy swords to cut through his foes.
Kirby games also follow a very simple premise. They are cutesy and innocent looking, appealing to kids, and being happy and go-lucky at the very beginning, when the difficulty is very easy. But as the game progresses, Kirby games become more morbid, eventually resulting in some Cthulhian, apocalyptic, end of the world, creepy nightmare vibe going on at the tail end of the game to let people know that this is the hardest part of the game. Kirby games have some of the most fucked up lore of any game aimed for children.
