I was in a bit of nostalgic mood and booted this one up, at least 20 years since I last played it. Only problem are the controls. They are clunky as fuck, and even if I spent 20 minutes trying to configure a good layout on the keyboard (plus mouse), I still find them really awkward to master. I tried to plug a controller in but it just doesn't perceive it, and the options of course only refer to a joystick (didn't have the time to check those options yet). Does anyone have an idea of what's the best way to play this? Should I just give up and git gud at the cost of my hands twisting?

Is it really the most impressive single player game ever?

the best way to play this is the sequel

wasd to move
mouse button 1 to shoot
msb2 to jump

good shit. shiny was my favorite dev before they were doomed to mobile shovelware hell. never had an issue with the controls, doesn’t it have mouselook?

yes

i played through it about a year ago for the first time since I was little. Just try to set everything up wasd style, and figure out what other key combos are comfortable for your hands. I think i used middle mouse button for weapon zoom too.

I actually played this with a Gravis Blackhawk joystick back in the day. Worked fine. If you're using an xbox controller and it doesn't work, that's probably because the game only supports DirectInput. Not sure if there's an xinput -> directinput emulator out there.

I figured everything the best way as possible but doing the sidewalk while aiming is really really awkward. Theoretically I'm moving the aim with the mouse but it does some weird shit if I move it up and down, the character slows down.
Exactly, I was trying to use a bone controller. The game doesn't even notice it.

>some weird shit if I move it up and down, the character slows down
check the options again, you can disable that

Which part exactly? Mouse settings?

The controls (keyboard and mouse) in this game seem to "collide" a bit.
I think I played it with mouse (more precise) and used keyboard only for running in large areas.
Also I hope you use nGlide.
It really is one of the best PC games ever made.

But why?

honestly, I just love the humour and gameplay variety in MDK2, and dont remember any problems with the controls

Holy Fuck. I finished MDK2 last week and it is still as good as I remember. If you are looking for a chill single player experience, then that is it. Still can't believe it holds up so wee, even to this day.
>Yes. It's all over.
>Um, yeah. I'm glad it's over
>Woof!

this part, click on it to disable the y axis

Anyone managed to make it run in actual HD with DGvoodoo? Apparently it's possible but I couldn't get it to work

Yes

>Chill
It's literally one of the hardest games ever made

This shit doesn't work at all on both in machines

I mad

I only played the demo.

Honestly, yes

Lala lala lala la...

The neverhood

Shit I feel retarded. Thanks user.

yeah. just to provide perspective, this game came out in 1997, ocarina of time came at 1998

WASD to move and mouse to shoot, but unbind mouse to move and keep screenlook attached to mouse. perfect controls for me
