See, the problem with that is that everyone took the stakes seriously in previous arcs. In the Buu Arc, you literally have people playing card games on Kami's Tower while Buu mass slaughters people. You have Gotenks fucking around after Super Buu kills not only everyone on Earth, but also all of his friends and family. You have Gohan sandbagging when the fucking planet is dead.

It's hard to care that the stakes are higher than ever when the characters are doing fuck all to take things seriously.

Uub exists. The problem is that Super is an interquel that takes place after the Buu Arc but also before the point where Goku goes off to train with Uub.

This basically means that all arcs that take place before Uub is reintroduced have 0 tension, because the only characters that could potentially die during this time are Beerus, Whis, Frieza, or Broly.

Considering Frieza is back in hell for GT, we know for a fact that he DOES eventually die again.

To be fair it's been explained that Saiyans age differently from humans. Goku's a literal grandpa but he didn't look it until he mastered Ultra Instinct.

The issue is that Trunks is now the same age he was when Future Gohan died, but is still half the size. Goten staying small like Goku did makes sense, but Trunks should've started growing by now.

And then at the end of the fight, Broly snaps out of it just before Gogeta finishes him off, and you see the confusion and fear in his expression. He had no idea what was going on after he'd transformed, showing a clear delineation between his Berserker state and his normal self, which is fairly normal and cognizant. But there's not really a "normal" Z Broly, just a lobotomized one and his true personality of a sadistic, hateful madman.

That was kind of the point of the movie. Broly was the physical threat but he wasn't the bad guy, Frieza and Paragus were. The final fight turned 180 from Vegeta and Goku trying to survive Broly, into Gogeta absolutely eclipsing Broly, and a race against the clock to see if Broly could be saved by Cheelai before Gogeta finished him off. You can argue if that worked to the film's benefit or not, but he was basically the film's third hero alongside Goku and Vegeta.

Bojack's original movie was set between Cell and Gohan going to public school; it was meant to show that Gohan had become confident in himself and accepted a role as protector of Earth after Goku died. I fear that a canonized Bojack movie would end up having Goku deliver the final blow, even if Gohan was given a bigger role, and even then Gohan's in a weird spot in Super where even after training back up all he wants to do is live his life and protect his family. He's not seen, heard, or mentioned once in Super Broly.

That said, Bojack himself is pretty cool, and I'd like to see how they'd tie him into the more connected ecosystem of Universe 7.
