Why did you stop playing Guild Wars 2?
Why did you stop playing Guild Wars 2?
No real endgame, crafting being cancer, and every time I see a sparkle cat I die a little inside. Makes me want to pay 1 more.
>years later
>still can't seperately rebind keys for each skill bar
Absolute ass
because i dont like getting 5fps when going to a city, or fighting a world boss
my computer may be a toaster by 2019 standard but this game is also terribly optimized for having a lot of players....which is kind of the point of a MMO
advertized horizontal progression locked behind cash shop
too many fucking items and currencies
storage expansion locked behind cash shop
It wasn't the shadow of the actually good first game and in fact ruined a lot of it with how inadequate a successor it was.
What do you do in this game exactly? I might consider going back to it. Like, I played it a few dozen hours, but I have no clue what the hell you do once you reach endgame.
because best girl of 2012 was never allowed to do anything good and then gets shafted in favor of an absolute piece of shit
nah, the game's only worth was WvW, which was good fun for half a year but it ultimately went nowhere (kind of like this character)
Because not only the story is trash, but I would either believe that I can't do raids without full pinks or I have to grind Fractals forever and ever, I'm not really that motivated either to get a jackal or griffin. Also why do I have to use a rifle for Holosmith?
Because it's not WoW. Thankfully classic is almost here.
Because I'll never forgive anet for raping GW's lore to create that abomination.
dungeons, raids, world events, instanced pvp, and world vs world pvp
dungeons and world events are 90% of what you do because they are your main source of gold income, which you can convert into cash shop currency to bling out your character and play dressup
Potential that got shit on by SJW hires. Now we're stuck with their shit. Seriously, Fuck having Braham around and your "friends".
didn't like grinding masteries for story progression but I started playing again recently as Thief and I'm enjoying myself
It's leftist SJW propaganda
I played wvw a lot with my guild, but the guild leader grew increasingly toxic towards the clan after being beaten by specific clans he had some sort of rivalry with. Joined another guild for raiding, it was good for a while. They then kicked the commander who was doing raids cause he called out peoples mistakes while we were trying to finish it within 4 hours. The next commander was a worthless impotent cuck for the guild admin, it took forever to do raids now and they were all covered in onions by then. I tried some solo pvp and pve but it was just too boring. I didn't care about the grind for loot at all.
I played for about 20-30 hours and had almost no interaction with people. I tried inviting others and talking to them but noone reacted but for that one guy who toured me around the map for an hour, which was right before I uninstalled.
Also got to the point where the only quest in my journal (the main quest) was in a level locked zone and I had no fucking clue what to do, because I needed to level up a shitton. There was an option to use some premium currency to unlock the zone early? That made me mad as fuck, was I retarded?
My character was a fat old guy with a mustache.
What does endgame entail? I don't think a single game seems to have satisfied it in ages.
I never played that disgusting insult to 1 in the first place.
Waiting for LS season 5. I've done everything else but Raids and theyre janky shitfests.
>raid in GW 2 is some of the easiest shit in mmo history
>somehow has the most ELITIST players for some fucking reason
>BUT GW 2 IS FOR EVERYONE AND WE ARE THE BEST COMMUNITY!
There were times I wish the GW 2 Reddit subforum just get deleted.
Because it stopped being fun after launch with all the balancing to classes and dungeons turning the game into a boring slow slog of whittling down sponges and DPS focus ruining the viability of more experimental niche build ideas. I guess things changed after HoT released but my friends were already put off by the game at that point.
for PvE there's raids, fractals, and world events, for PvP there's arenas and WvW.
you can also torture yourself by doing legendaries
>I guess things changed after HoT released
it didn't, really. HoT just added P2W specializations.
Easier the content, the more elitest and delusional the players become as they keep pushing to be efficient and stroking their e-dicks, it's the same in every multiplayer PvE game and I'm sick of it.
A lot of the players are weirdly passive agressive. They will do shit behind someones back while acting nice all the time. Only pugs would confront someone openly for being shit.
I mean, I really love the concept of doing world content instead of being stuck in countless instanced dungeons and the likes. So you'd say I should give it a shot?
Raidfags have always been a fucking mess. Warhammer online was the only one that wasn't like that because it was pvp so the autism couldn't survive the way in.
But that apparently isnt enough. I want to know what the 'needs more endgame' crowd is actually after.
the catch is all that endgame is fucking trash. Even the more casual stuff like collections is riddled with RNG, grinding, and timegating
Not the same guy but if you like the sound of doing outdoor content then you should give it a try at the very least. I agree with most of the criticism of GW2 but I have to give credit that some of the classes have lots of fun ways to play them especially outdoors where you can flip around and melt groups of enemies with combos. I think when the novelty of progressing through the outdoors gets boring is when the game stops having much to offer outside of the PvP.
Grinding is all about optimization, so grindfags get ass blasted at suboptimal shit slowing them down.
>Dumb story
>Dumb characters
>Dumb crafting system
>Living Story formula rehashed for the last four years, which is go to square map, collect some annoying as fuck currency, collect fifteen billion unstable thaumaturgicalogical magic
>Constant churning out of gem store exclusive skins and weapons, while they added fuck all new armour sets in the last expansion
>No mount skins and barely any glider skins which you can obtain without coughing up gems
>>No mount skins and barely any glider skins which you can obtain without coughing up gems
this is the worst part of the gem store
>mount skins are twice as expensive as actual character skins unless you want to play the lootbox lottery
Truly worse than Hitler.
The thing is, literally every other mmo's raid aren't as elitist as the GW 2 Raider, and the reward for doing raids in GW 2 is utter garabge. You're better off doing Fractals if you want rewards.
it wasn’t guild wars 1
You forget this
>added time gated/hidden mounts that felt rewarding to unlock
>LOL HERE ARE SOME +20 DOLLAR SKINS IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THEIR LOOK!
Absolute cancers.
Is it worth playing if you do not pay for the expansions or anything else?
Anyone?
Expansions are mandatory if you want to remain competitive. You get access to way better stat combinations for gear and elite specializations.
I don't think zones are level-locked, but the main story is locked to every 10 levels for some retarded reason
In Core map, you could just run to the end of the map. The same could be said with the Expansion. The only reason you wouldn't be able to go to X map is because you're playing a Living Story quest that requires you to finish it to get there or you use a player's teleport cash shop item and get a port.
The only good part about GW2 is the PvP but the devs literally pretend that it doesn't exist so the population is limited enough to detract from the experience.
what little story there was went completely off the fucking rails with stronk plant lesbians, and they charged for the privilege of sitting through it
I didn't. And when I get home from the gym I'm going to play more wvw and kill more scrubs with my sniper soulbeast. It's the best action combat MMO out right now and only salty boomers who spend all day on Yea Forums whining about "muh sj dubbyas" hate it
They were trying to living off of GW 1's pvp success, not realizing why it was a success in the first place. Of course, you got this fatfack in charge of the power balance, of course its going to fail.
because the story is trash and the combat doesn't make up for it
pvp is shit too
>no content
>devs STILL don't know what to make of the game's core mechanics
>story is garbage
>everything revolves around the cash shop
It had a lot of potential and could've easily been in a comfy third position in popularity just below FFXIV and WoW, though if only the developers actually cared about the game.
I am trahearne... and this is MY story
what a fucking boring character to have to hear about for 20 hours
fuck i forgot you had to follow that dickhead around all game
Because it was way grindier than GW1 to play endgame content, and I wasn't a high schooler with tons of free time on his hands like when I was playing GW1.
They don't . All the resources went to either Wildstar (lol it died) or their living story nonsense and promote their diversity team. To make matter worse, when they got more leeways with their resources, they spend it in fuck all, side projects that go no where and shitty story update. NCsoft end up having to fired many of them AND all the side project got scrap. All those wasted money that could have been funneled into GW 2.
>there are players out there that defend these mary sue
I don't get it. Do they love having their hard work stolen from them?
>could've easily been in a comfy third position in popularity just below FFXIV and WoW
Isn't that about where it is though? There aren't that many thriving MMOs, at least in the West.
at least they both died humiliating deaths
I still wonder if I should go back to it. It there even anything left to go back to?
>implying I ever stopped playing GW1
they send all that money right back into the cash shop
Not really. Scarlet end up being ITS MY PLAN ALL ALONG! I WIN! For Traherne, your character beg for him not to die. A humiliating death would be to kill them, their plans fail, and throw their corpse into a ditch.
Last time I checked the big three right now are WoW, FFXIV and ESO in that order.
I've seen a lot of GW2 endgame folks fleeing to ESO or XIV.
Locking parts of the story behind paywalls separate from expansions made me drop it at 80.
>tfw charrs and asuras are stuck in this mess of a game
Its not fair.
Because it sucks.
ASCALON FOR ASCALONIANS, GAS THE FURS
Oh right, I forgot about ESO. Still, GW2 is probably 4th which is decent for a MMO that doesn't have 15 years of legacy like WoW or a big license like FF or TES behind it.
GW1 came out one year after WoW
No, that would be OSRS, unironically.
>hey thanks for telling us about this dragon we had NO IDEA EXISTED up until you told us, we're gonna go kill it now
shouldn't you be somewhere sticking your hands in dry ice?
Making gold in the game is so easy and fast that you can get anything you want from the gemstore without ever paying a single cent, if you have the barest amount of patience for farming.
rednik is a cuck
Gameplay gets worse with every update, bad story, bad PvE, bad PvP, horrible community.
Competitive in WvWvW, maybe. Elite specs and the new stat combinations are in no way mandatory for PvE activities or sPvP.
Getting the expansions is still recommended though, since over half of the game's end-game content is in the areas added by them.
>horrible community
But I was told it has the friendliest community around.
>nobody likes running shitty dungeons because they're boring as fuck and give terrible money
>ran champ trains instead
>arenanet devs would de-tag and fuck up the trains
>stealth nerfed champ loot
>flat out nerfed them
>nerfed dungeons
>engi op as fuck in pvp
>pvp dev mains engi won't nerf
>talk about pvp balance on forums and mention engi
>get banned
>gay as fuck living story finale is bugged with achievements
>devs swear it isn't bugged and write a "guide" on getting the achievements
>boils down to you suck, get good
>two hours later hotfix drops for bugged achievements
There are many reasons I quit that horse shit
>Charrs and Humanity have a centuries long conflict which at this point it will only end when one side is exterminated
>Ascalon is a rallying cry for mankind
>jk we're all friendly now let bygones be bygones haha
fuck this game
and who told you that?
Reddit, of course.
Elite specs are straight better than base game in all content outside of MAYBE Engineer.
Why are people saying that Trahearne "steals the player's hard work"?
His wyld hunt was directly beneficial for the overall goal of defeating Zhaitan, so of fucking course you'd help him complete it. And he isn't even there when Zhaitan is killed and makes it a point to remind you how crucial you are for the continued success of the pact, so what the fuck gives?
>you live in a timeline where gw2 went f2p sooner than gw1
lmaoing irl
>Briar Rose or whatever the fuck her name is arc starts
>sit there while I'm in the middle of farming easy mobs that can't fight back in the middle of the nonsensical battle arena the human queen made filled with sexy clockwork robots while the rest of her lands are getting raped by ogres and centaurs
>realize the only permanent content the game's had in the year I've played it was Fractals, which are either easy or shitty depending on your group
>the story updates have sucked for months and only stay around for a couple of weeks
>the gameplay's already getting stale despite me spending most of my time making alts and experimenting with as much build variety as possible
>quit
It didn't help that the RP community sucked fucking ass because each race was plagued with a horrible stereotype that made trying to hang out with your own people an exercise of futility.
I just got bored- I did everything, and all I had to look forward to were episodic content every three months that would take me three hours to finish, and constantly replenishing and spending my resources on absurdly expensive legendary skins.
It's only friendly as long as the game makes it impossible for them to be sacks of shit, which they turn out to be the moment there is any chance of failure, or competition. That's also why the reddit is 90% pve and people's artwork.
>World is going to shit with ancient mythical beasts awakening and threatening to destroy the entire planet
>"Welp, guess we better keep fighting and ignore that. I'm sure it will sort itself out."
Better does not translate into mandatory, metafaggot.
I still play it.
I find the content fun and i can play other games with friends and come back to gw2 at anytime.
The ability to jump back into gw2 like FFXiV does is nice.
Not having to refarm every single piece of gear every time they release a xpac/patch is better for people with jobs(Sadly like me).
they're mandatory if you don't want to get carried
>not being a GW1 chad and beating world ending threats while at the same time doing your part in the race war and in the guild war
Or you find yourself a guild that doesn't give a fuck what anyone runs and raids/does PvP/Fractals/whatever for fun instead of maximum efficiency and the shortest possible clear time.
Not really. A full core spec party can clear every fractal and raid, ergo there is no carrying happening and you need to fix your autism.
that's still getting carried, you retard. It's just with people who are ok with carrying you.
You forget that GW1 chads had the full support of the six gods. GW2 humanity no longer has that crutch to fall upon.
just because core specs can do content does not mean that elite specs aren't considerably better than core specs
What if no one has an elite spec?
Just because something is better doesn't mean you're being carried. You can't be this stupid.
Best part of the game is the races
But norn a best
And better does not translate into mandatory. Mandatory, by definition, implies that you wouldn't be capable of clearing content if even one person in the group didn't have an elite spec.
Because the game actively circle jerk Tranheare to a point taht he is the main character, not you. His Wyld Hunt didn't do jack shit since it doesn't stop the undead from appearing and appearing again. Moreso now that they made you do his Wild Hynt earlier into the story. Oh and don't get me started with the Wild Hynt. You literally do the Wild Hynt for him.
Base Engie is dabbed on by Holo now, you just need to build power instead of condi.
>my Wyld Hunt is to cleanse Orr
>we did it, we cleansed Orr!
>literally nothing changes
>despite Anet promising a living, dynamic world
To be fair that one LS3 map shows how the cleansing is a slow process, but definitely in progress.
They also proceeded to kill her
Not before she got BLACKED in a party one night by a name of SUNCHASER and gave birth to what is arguably one of the worst companion in RPG history.
any news of the next exp or is the game dead in the water?
I needed an expansion to play the class I wanted, and the game didn't really have me hooked at that point so I just dropped it. That was a couple years ago
they're announcing something a week from tomorrow, probably the next season of LW that will lead in to the next expansion
I had my fun with it, ~2500 hours, didn't spend any money on it apart from the base game and expansions. Never felt myself very immersed in the game.
WvW is a clusterfuck now and dead, people only playing at reset.
Haven't tried PvP in years, but I assume it's not that good either.
Gem store is a fucking piece of shit, out of the 10 people who still work on this games probably 8 comes up with ways how to be an even bigger jew with their skins etc.
Running fractals and raids can be still fun with friends. Champion rushes/map metas start to be mind numbingly boring with each passing day.
All things considered, I think the game had potential but they squandered it and now they don't want to spend real money and effort on it to make something better out of it.
Some announcement on the 30th probably continuing with the living story, you can miss me with that shit.
If you ask me, it's not worth getting into it anymore.
week from yesterday*
>got a dye from Knife-Tail Gang
is there any worse feeling
thinking that you can get anything of value at all
They admitted that the only thing they care about was the living world meme that I never gave a single shit about and everyone that I knew just threw their hands in the air and gtfo'd themselves so...
I have never played any mmo for the """"story"""". I play mmo for the gameplay and the massive multiplayer aspect, I'd prefer if there even weren't any story to begin with so more focus would go to literally anything else.
story become complete garbage
shouldn't have offed Lazarus, Balth, and Joko in such lame ways
god i fucking hate Taimi and Aurene and the rest of diversity kiddies gang
still haven't finished last episode because of them
Ran out of places to explore and the mobs were all turning to boring as fuck zombies.
Is Revenant worth buying a character slot for? fuck i hate how they make you buy character slots, fucking Arenanetjews.
What most seem to want from their endgame seems to boil down to timegates of different kinds, but in essence still just timegates, but they never say it directly and they will not admit that that's what they want but ultimately it is.
Example;
Players: We don't get meaningful sense of progression since there aren't any power creep with new content and the sense of pride and accomplishment is missing without need to grind for new gear for content.
Translation: We want the content to be timegated behind new gear requirements, and that gear itself be timegated as well.
Because I didn't like the lore or setting, and none of the classes grabbed me. Plus I was still in the stage of my life where I still wanted WoW to be good. Of it came out today I may have stuck with it a little longer because WoW is dead to me.
there is a mod that replaced all the dx9 calls to dx12
This, endgame is just anther way of saying timegate
ill run off a few things
story is shit
skills/builds are extremely limited, gw1 has like over 1000 fucking skills
pvp is shit
wvw is hot garbage
combo system is garbage, meta for the longest fucking time revolved around only ever using fire fields to blast with for might stacks and then phalanx warrior came along and made even that redundant, most combo's are irrelevant in 99% of situations.
every map adds another fucking resource to the game, if you want anything current you have to play the new map, there's no other option because you need the new resource.
god forbid you want an item from an old living story episode, because those maps are pretty dead because it aint current content.
pve is a complete zergfest
rng to get anything of value, which you wont get outside of literally once in a blue moon if that
guildhalls are garbage, mudhuts, more mudhuts, dank cave, wow such options
actual pros
amazing quality of life, ability to send crafting materials to your bank from anywhere, the autoloot system once unlocked is amazing
gliding is cool and essentially circumvents the games garbage z axis, fall damage in this game was fucking retarded, to the point where there is literally a flight of stairs that if you run down too quickly you die to fall damage, without having actually jumped.
mounts are the best in any mmo because they have practical uses
raids we're neat
the game has neat features, but the core gameplay loop is complete shit and not worth your time, especially with all the cash grapping they do now with the gemstore
it's not really guild wars
but still, I gave it three shots as a generic mmo, not thinking of it as guild wars
one at the start, one before the first expac, one after the first expac
it's just overall not very good, it fails in all areas in different ways but it does so at an amazingly constant rate
This.
See >No no time-gates = No endgame
Anything that undermines the time-gates is considered to be bad.
why does Yea Forums have such a hateboner for wings?
Nothing scream obnoxious cash shop more than Wings.
>Other characters fellate him
>He himself always makes it clear to you, whether in private or with others, that you are the one doing the heavy lifting and he's just an icon
I still don't see the problem
>being a cuck
Because he knows that no one will give a shit about you while all the other npc suck his thorny dick. There is a reason why they heavily shifted the spotlight to the player in PoF.
this user knows what's up
But he has to be the Marshal because you are already heavily invested in one of the orders at that point and thus couldn't be trusted to be an impartial leader. And even still you are named the Commander of the pact, with supreme authority over its military forces.
What more do you want? A handjob from every pact soldier or something?
I also didn't mind Trahearne. A shame he left me alone with those assholes.
Except you don't do anything for the Order at that point and the writer force Traherne to be the Marshal because everyone was legitimately retarded. Even then, you have stories like EotN and Morrowind where you got the Main Character helping or leading a group of different races and faction against a sole antagonist, despite you heavily invested into one faction. Regardless, any of the Destiny Edge would easily be a candidate if you want someone from the outside, and they did just that with Logan.
I would preferably retcon Trahearne and his entire mary sue race from the game itself.
>you are already heavily invested in one of the orders at that point and thus couldn't be trusted to be an impartial leader
You do realize they wrote it this way so that they could shoehorn that treefaggot in right?
You weren't doing anything for the order at that particular moment, but you had already cemented yourself as an established member of one earlier on.
Destiny's Edge was also in full emo mode at the time, dealing with their own problems as shown by the Pale Tree's vision. Logan was made the Marshal after the events of HoT, aka after they had all gotten their shit back together.
>You weren't doing anything for the order at that particular moment, but you had already cemented yourself as an established member of one earlier on
Read
> Even then, you have stories like EotN and Morrowind where you got the Main Character helping or leading a group of different races and faction against a sole antagonist, despite you heavily invested into one faction.
Its already been done before, but the writers are just shit and want to shove Trahearne down your throat.
>Destiny's Edge was also in full emo mode at the time
Yes and they could still make it work by making it an off side thing. Also the Pale Tree is the center of all the mary sue shit and I would have love to burn her down.
So they wanted to show different interest groups not willing to work under someone who was affiliated with one of their rival groups. That is, while certainly petty, not at all illogical or unheard of.
The fact that they have done it a different way before only makes this approach more logical, as to avoid recycling narrative points.
best girls
Again, read
> Even then, you have stories like EotN and Morrowind where you got the Main Character helping or leading a group of different races and faction against a sole antagonist, despite you heavily invested into one faction.
It doesn't matter if you're even heavily invested in one of the Order or not. I would doubt the recycling part since the writers for the story were doing an actual shit job at it. They had to make all the Order faction act like childish retarded and arguing over petty stuff when there is an invasion going on.
Would a re-run of EotN have been any better? At some point the plot point of "Player leads a rag-tag group to victory" gets old and you need to shake it up somehow. So why not make the players role a bit different, while still equally important for success?
Warcraft had several hugely successful rts games prior to the mmo though
This thread means that the bot is back, right?
It's only active on /vg/, I think
I've done everything I wanted to do in that game, minus a few legendaries, but I hate WvW too much to grind out more gifts of battle. All my friends stopped playing, so I quit too.
I think he died or ran out of money.
Actually, yes. It works pretty well in EotN and it should work well now if you have a competent writer. Its not even just a rag-tag group to victory, it also represent each of the race/faction and their perceptive of the situation. You or your group aren't the leader of the race/faction, but you get to watch them to their own work and you help assist them. The mission Destruction's Depths does that beautifully and much better than the entirety of Trahearne's arc in GW 2.
But the whole point in GW2 is that these orders differ so much in their ethos and MO that there's simply no way that they will work together unless led by someone who has no ties to any one of the orders. The asura, the norn and the ebon vanguard were able to find common ground, the orders were not. Thus, a neutral marshal was a necessity.
This is not inherently bad writing, it's just a different narrative path.
And the writer does an absolute shit job at it. The Orders couldn't work together over petty shit instead of being competent. They have a common ground, but they are written so that it would make anyone else look good leading them. And then there the mary sue Trahearne and they shove that role onto him and everyone thinks he is Jesus, not questioning him or his experience. The same guy that didn't bother having the Pact go and help LA against the Scarlet invasion, which was the main reason for the Pact to exist in the first place. The same person that doesn't know what recon is and had 90% of the army kill before HoT was release.
What they should have done instead is that they should have already establish a common ground long ago, with the whole undead invasion and all. Then they could have elected a representative of each of the Order and work with their strengths and position to take control of Orr. If that isn't the case, then they could just use Destiny Edge since they had legitimate experience with the Elder Dragon threat. This doesn't require the player at all.
Horrible optimization, no fun goals to pursue.
>And then there the mary sue Trahearne and they shove that role onto him and everyone thinks he is Jesus, not questioning him or his experience
Did you forget that the very first missions you undertake after the pact is formed is for you to accompany Trahearne as he proves himself capable? His inexperience leading and the pact doubting him was very much a plot point.
I was in the NA /vg/ guild and eventually all my friends left it/moved on/stopped playing. At the time the big frustrations were that Anet kept adding small, cool events that lasted a week then went away forever. Stuff like the super adventure box and etc should have been permanent additions. When someone would come back after 3 months, they'd find fucking nothing new because it all came and went to capatilze on people's fomo and make them shell out $20 for blue dragon wings or something shitty
Yes and his experience is I WAS IN ORR JERKING OFF TO ORR ROCKS. His doubt and inexperience doesn't do much for him since that was quickly brush off. His experience ultimately doesn't benefit the Pact at all. This all lead back to this shit image.
Raised on the streets is best human origin
I play at working hours and late night because im a degenerate and on EU so the game is pretty dead most of the time...
i stopped playing around the time they introduced the living world stuff
just exploring and 100% clearing the entire world map while shitposting with the /vg/ guild was really fun, and getting a legendary weapon was pretty cool, but after that there was just not much left.
the living story writing was so bad that i just didn't care at all.
how long has it been, like 2013 or 2014?
*Ahem*
JUMPING PUZZLES WERE THE ONLY ENJOYABLE THING IN THIS GAME AND FUCK FLYING MOUNTS
Maybe other things would have been fun to you if you weren't the epitome of antisocial.
The game died for me pretty early.
Whenever they added the overly gaudy cash shop cosmetics.
Just what I want to see, a bunch of edgelords running around with angel and demon wings.
LET'S GO BACK TO GUILDS AND VIOLENCE
>His experience ultimately doesn't benefit the Pact at all
There are multiple points in the story where his knowledge of either Orrian history or just the geography and landmarks of the place comes in handy.
But all JPs lock you out of mounting (except those that require them in PoF), so it's not like they're ruined by mounts.
I quit around the time they buffed Rangers to an insane degree they could knock you over and kill you with a single volley. I was pissed. I only did sPvP, so when that happened it ruined the game.
It does cheapen some of the better hidden ones a bit when you know that one is nearby by the fact that you cannot mount or glide.
yes, and both WoW and GW2 were not starting from square zero
Because they keep ruining it. Living Story is fucking garbage meant to trap people who suffer from FOMO. Combat is okay but becomes stale extremely quickly because your 1-5 will never EVER change and your utility skills are generally nt that big of a deal outside of endgame, it makes leveling a fucking chore. Story is trash. Leveling is trash, quests are unironically better than random events which ultimately don't do shit because their effects are super minor, oh no, I lose access to that one merchant who sells nothing useful!
They could've just made GW1 but not instanced, but nooooooooooooo.
