Western setting

>Western setting
>It's elves, dwarves and humans
Why westeners are so unoriginal when it comes to fantastical races?

Because the west is obsessed with the shitworks of Tolkien.

Wrong-wrong, faggot-thing

There isn't any good fictional media

>Elves,dwarves and humans
>Add some ratmens, lizardfolk and fat mongolians and call it original
lmao

Exactly

Doesn't this game feature playable Elves, Dwarves, humans
????????????

Gorons are bigger dwarves
Zora are water elves
Gerudo are sand elves

That's because there's nothing original

Imagine trying to reach this hard, lol.

Cope

But Gorons and Zora are just iterations on the dwarf and elf archetypes

>its a dragonquest knockoff
>its little girl moeblobs with animal parts
Why easteners are so unoriginal when it comes to fantastical races?

I accept your concession

no one ever said zelda was original

>Eastern setting
>race of lolis with thick thighs

>rock dwarves and water elves

>has standard races (and non-standard variations of those races)
>also has non-standard races
>”none of it is original!!”
Let me guess, you ride the short bus to school?

>Eastern setting
>It's humans, humans with long ears, and humans with animal ears

Everything is an elf with the right adjectives

Gerudo are literally just muslims

what japanese space game had a more diverse set of races than mass effect?

Elves are pointless. Long lived human with a nature boner isn't unique enough for them not to just be a race of humans. Zelda did the right thing just making the common race the elves

>Reaching so fucking hard that you think a race of sentient fish is somehow "Water Elves"
Holy shit.

so are they what would happen if Arabic women weren't being oppressed by men

Cope

They're a mix of Egyptian, Arabian and Indian.

You know what you never see in games? Giants. Are there any games that feature giants as a fully fleshed out race alongside other races?

Treasure of the Rudras on the SNES has a giant player character. Being a Square RPG though, he's just a bit bigger than the regular folk. I didn't play enough to see if there's more than just him.

>I-ITS OK WHEN JAPAN DOES IT!
seethe harder incels

giants pre skyrim

>incels
Incels are just angry internet elves

Cats are just furry Elves.

>Eastern settins
>It's ghosts, """demons""", and serpent dragons
Why easterners are so unoriginal when it comes to fantastical races?

Pretty sure they're also tapping into Amazons.

It´s not that westerns are unoriginal. Western writting in general takes the monsters and creatures from folk tales, popular myths and legends because those are already culturally accepted and recognizable. This is useful if one doesn´t want to waste time on exposition.

Still i would have to agree if you where to say western narrative in general has become a bit dull and derivative.

And ancient magic race full of thousand years old lolis

>Western writing in general takes the monsters and creatures from folk tales, popular myths and legends because those are already culturally accepted and recognizable
That's exactly Japan's derivative problem. Especially since they're keen on their own history, folk tales, and Shinto mythology. But with a greater focus on specific characters in addition to generalized monsters/species/races.

You don't see western writers using or alluring to the Greek, Roman, or Egyptain gods, demigods, or heroes a fifth as much as Japan will have Raiden, or Son Wukong made a central piece in original fiction.

. look up sylvari and naga. but i actually do agree with op and wish western devs would fuck off with elves and dwarves. and orcs too are pretty overdone . japan is just as bad with thier power ninjas , and psychic school girls.

why cant a medievil them have a dead space like problem enemy. its sentient spiders, dragons, though dragon age did do intelligent darkspawn wich are kinda like necromorphs.

its a boring time periode races have to be humanlike to communicate with them. they ought to just make a scaled down halo story. ancient powerful civilization vanishes, find ruins in cave, enter darkspawns, turns out ancient civilization was all gay men and simply stopped reproducing, and darkspawns are their remnant ass babies.

Zoras are merman. Seethe retards

Hylians are explicitly just long eared humans. There's nothing elvan about them.

>Setting of my own
>Just smash as much shit together as possible
>Snake people are Egyptian and Meso American, extremely vain and gluttonous
>Dragon people are Chinese and American, obsessed with War and Industry

that's all you need to be an elf in most setting

>There's nothing elvan about them
Except that they're not humans because humans exist in Zelda, and the Hylians are the ones with the gods' favor.

Further proof that Jak and Daxter is vidya kino

Hylians:Literally elves
Humans: Humans
Gorons: Big Dwarves
Zora: Water elves
Gerudo: Exotic Humans
Kokiri/Koroks: Halflings/Gnomes.
Rito: Sky Elves

Hylians = Elves
Gerudo = Amazonians (wich are woman elves)
Zora = Water Elves
Rito = Aerial Elves
Kokiri = Small Elves
Gorons = Big Elves
Humans = not Elves

You:Nigger

I'll give you that but at least they're not just midgets and tall people which is the point, and this of course doesn't count for all the other races in the series

I don´t doubt it. Replication of the tales has been the way to pass on cultural heritage since humans invented storytelling. Furthermore true originality is really rare if not almost impossible. Most text are just reinventions or reimagenings of previous texts. Lord of the rings is based on the ring of the nibelungs which in turn is based on the nordic sagas, The Dark tower is a mixture of the arthurian legends with western influence plus pop culture references, Legacy of Kain is obviously based or at least partially influenced by the Elric chronicles, Dragon Ball is based on Journey to the west and so on... heck, half of the stories and characters on the fucking bible are reinvention of pagan stories and Roman myths (which in turn where reinventions of Greek theology) because people recognized the stories and that made it easier to accept them.
All that not even considering the reproduction of the narrative structures and archtypes...

They look human enough to be acceptable and relatable

>incelves

Merpeople are just sea elves

>he says as he posts dwarf and elf expies

What a sad poll

1.The more human-like a character is the more relatable and thus appealing it is. On-top of that there's a lot more people who can draw/animate a human then make minor variations of it, rather than try to do something totally alien. That's why you won't see anything super crazy.

2. When you say "This is an elf" you don't have to waste time explaining what an elf is. Just how your elves differ from the norm.

3. A lot people are specifically looking for an elves/orcs/dward/etc type of game. Don't use'em and you don't get that auidence. People don't care about the "Crodentai" because they don't know what it is.

>jap setting
>it’s 4 different kinds of humans but with different animal ears
