Why is this so highly rated? >Barely any rpg elements >Very little customization. Basically one style of fighting >Most side arms don't actually work >No pvp >Very little meaningful content outside main quest >Little replay value >Far more cinematic and less subtle >Generic sengoku setting
Frankly speaking if this was not made by FROM I bet it's actual score would be a lot lower.
Cause it has good gameplay and presentation >generic sengoku setting I don’t think it’s generic at all especially in comparison to souls games
Zachary Gutierrez
perhaps cause overall it's a pretty good experience?
Landon Wright
>games can only be highly rated if they're RPG's with vast selection of weapons and customization options and also have pvp
Cooper Cook
Take off your souls goggles and play it like you would any other game.
Levi Roberts
It's an action game not an RPG, you are holding it to the wrong standards
Brandon Morris
BB>DS3>DS1>Sekiro>DS2>Demon
Levi Ortiz
Looks like a Sony cinematic experience
Jeremiah Gray
Yeah well it's a collage of the cinematic vistas in the game, genius. Naturally that's the effect it has. You're a literal brainlet if you think this game is a movie game though.
Jason Russell
>>Barely any rpg elements >>Far more cinematic and less subtle >>Generic sengoku setting Reaching quite far to find faults in the game now.
Jayden Anderson
>people still expect it to be Dark Souls 4 You know devs dont have to make the same game over and over again, right?
>Barely any rpg elements This is good >Very little customization. Basically one style of fighting But it's much more in-depth than ther downs-tier r1 spamming of the other games that occurred with every weapon. >Most side arms don't actually work True >No pvp True >Very little meaningful content outside main quest Same as every other souls game >Little replay value If it's fun, it has replay value >Far more cinematic and less subtle If you're talking about a lower percentage of the lore coming from your character's profound insight into coins, bottles, and literal shit, then yes. >Generic sengoku setting Subjective.
Carter Wood
because doing "clink" perfect parries feels fantastic, learn to do it
hey, why not double team? did you stab the other one?
Jason Carter
>It's bad because it's not Dark Souls You're autistic or stupid or both
Hudson Powell
>because doing "clink" perfect parries feels fantastic, learn to do it all my parries sound like two sword clashing together. so am i perfect parrying every time?
William Watson
Those things aren't inherently bad. Just because you expected a new soulslike it doesn't mean Sekiro is bad.
Logan Collins
For a series that gained popularity for breaking the mold, it's ironic to see the Souls fanbase become so heavily steeped in convention.
Aaron Wood
>>Barely any rpg elements >>No pvp Those are good things.
Adam Sullivan
it's two different sounds, and a little different visual effect, I don't know which one you are getting perfect parries damage opponent poise more than normal parries
Leo Moore
Its a new Tenchu.
Daniel Bennett
In case you haven't realised it yet, ratings are all driven by hype. An incomplete PoS like MGS5 got 10/10s everywhere. GTA 4, one of the most boring games made till date got 10s. RDR2, a clunky movie game got 10s. BoTW, a game outdated in every way got 10s.
It's all about the developer name and hype.
Joshua Myers
someone did the comparison, it's basically tenchu remake
David Myers
yeah because we all know how great it goes when an action game shoehorns in rpg elements
You forgot the worst part: >No car racing sections
Lincoln Johnson
>no timed underwater escort mission What the fuck were they thinking?
Jaxon Sanchez
>no collectible trophies unplayable.
Carter Ross
>no rhythm minigames man they really dropped the ball on this one
Samuel Scott
actually, it kinda is a rhythm game
Tyler Nelson
>Barely any rpg elements This doesn't mean anything. Not every game needs to have RPG elements to be good. >Very little customization. Basically one style of fighting Also doesn't mean anything. Quantity =/= quality. >Most side arms don't actually work Don't work, or aren't "press to win"? I've found they fill their purposes fine without being OP. >No pvp Not every game needs pvp to be good. >Very little meaningful content outside main quest Again, this in and of itself doesn't mean anything. It really sounds like you thought this was an RPG instead of an actin game for whatever stupid reason. >Little replay value You know, I'll give you this one. As a 60 dollar game, it's lame. It's an ok buy for 30. >Far more cinematic and less subtle "Far more cinematic" than what, your typical From Souls style? That didn't mean much and It still doesn't come close to being a movie game like most AAAs. >Generic sengoku setting Doesn't mean anything, there's nothing wrong with it. Subjective taste.
The only really valid criticism is that it doesn't have a lot of replay value for a full priced game. All of the other points are non sequiturs and sound like the "it has to be open world to be good" nonsense normies are currently trained for. At best they just contribute to the only valid complaint you put forth, the lack of replay (and one I had to clarify is only because it's still 60 dollars).
Jose Peterson
Had the chance to play Sekiro this past week, I'm sure I missed a lot of shit but I'm content with the progress I made (killed real monk) and I loved the game.
Found 3 Headless (4 if you count the underwater ones as 2), was planning to stock on confetti to try and take them out but never got around to it. What do these dudes reward you with? Genuinely the hardest AND scariest miniboss for me.
seems like you missed a headless because there should be one more they give you unique quick items that give you buffs in exchange for emblems
Blake Nguyen
they give you an item which serves as an infinite stack of sugars that cost spirit emblems I think he only found the underwater fountainhead one, because it has a twin add. There's another underwater one in ashina castle
Jeremiah Carter
We're team try really hard for Sekiro. I apologies to you that you did like not. Promise we're try hard much more Anonymous
Matthew Campbell
>we will never have insanely fun bosses like Genichiro (et al.) because of seething soulsfags

I do not understand (°=°)
Aaron Morgan
>>games can only be highly rated if they're RPG's with vast selection of weapons and customization options and also have pvp He must be a DaS2 fag if he thinks that's what constitutes a "good" game.
Alexander Bailey
They removed all the pollution in Souls games to make something more focused and high quality
Matthew Ortiz
It has trophies
Caleb Baker
The world would be a better place without DaS2fags, for sure.
I think the way they conveyed the story was great, not as butt nebulous as Souls games but not too on the nose either. Outside of that it doesn't feel very Soulslike, you gotta play it more as an action rpg.
Bentley Allen
cool webm.
Nathan Roberts
>Why is this so highly rated? Cuz it's a legitimately great game with the most solid gameplay and most polish of any title From has ever released? Also has a beautiful setting with excellent writing and worldbuilding. It's actually the first From game I've played that doesn't feel like a rushed and unfinished mess in some places, but like an actual complete and perfected product. It's kinda frustrating so many people seem to have expected this to be DaS4 and now shit on it because it's actually its own game. >>Most side arms don't actually work Not true btw. All the prosthetics work, but they're all situational, not universal tools. They're meant to augment and aid your fighting style against particular enemies and in particular situations; they're not meant to be a replacement for your main weapon or a win button.
Sekiro isn't a fucking RPG why do people keep knocking it down for not having RPG elements? It's a fucking action adventure game like DMC or something.
David Baker
Fromsoft have gotten really good with their cinematography. The flower in sunken valley illuminated by light or the cave after the false Corrupted Monk are beautifully framed.
Ayden Rivera
This
Isaac Mitchell
There are like 4 that I can think of as being useful.
>Sabimaru On Okami Warriors in Fountainhead only. >Shuriken On dogs >Umbrella On Shichimen Warriors >Firecrackers On literally everything else
Theres a shitload of prosthetic tools and half of them are useless, or near useless. I know, you can spear pull Guardian Ape after a deflect on his big hit, but it doesn't deal more damage to justify using it over just swinging desu.
The prosthetic tools were severely underutilized, and the upgrade tree was extremely poorly handled. I'm surprised you're saying it doesnt feel like a completely unrushed mess when the prosthetic tool upgrade tree, and maxing out your characters skills is a complete fucking oversight.
Jordan Bell
This looks clunky as shit
Charles Lopez
there was an underwater stealth section though
Kevin Rivera
Finger whistle good for luring Shuriken good for interrupting light enemies from a distance and closing gaps
I mean I barely used prosthetics when I played but not because they weren’t useful just because I wanted to get to grips with the fundamentals
Oliver Thomas
The umbrella can be used against pretty much everything, including SSI's long range attacks, Headless Ape's scream, DoH's AoE attack and the gun fort in general. Crackers can be used for some of these as well but Umbrella only costs one emblem for use. It's definitely one of the more useful prosthetics but like the crackers it doesn't make the combat more interesting.
They're mostly useless outside of combat as well, since stealth is pretty simple and you can just ran past everything and still grab all the secrets. This is why Sekiro is "just" a 9/10 for me.
Grayson Peterson
Yeah but if you're running around with an umbrella active you're not damaging in the boss. It doesn't even put you in a favorable position either, which is why I only mentioned Shichimen Warriors, becuase their terror laser is bullshit, and you just walk right through it.
Sure, you can use the umbrella to block the attacks, but it doesn't actively hep you in most cases. For Demon of Hatred especially, you are way better just running when he jumps and then jumping and grappling for extra damage since you'll avoid the attack.
The problem is that they are far too situational to be even remotely useful. You need to grasp the fundamentals of Sekiro. If you don't you won't suceed. So they half-cocked the prosthetic tools, to the point where if you never touched them, you could still beat Sekiro easily.
Ayden Clark
The spear is useful against any enemy who uses backstep/backflip moves since it can close distance quickly and thus punish those moves. You have to use it against the ape while it's lying on the ground; that way you can pull out the centipede and stun it for several seconds, giving you a handful of free hits (all of that for just one spirit emblem). Flame vent is very powerful against enemies who are weak to fire, such as ogres and all enemies who wear straw clothing (even better with Living Force). The axe is powerful against enemies with a weak posture pool. Finger whistle with the ring makes fights against apparitions much quicker and easier. Shuriken can be used effectively to shoot enemies who go airborne. And I found the umbrella to be very helpful against certain difficult to deflect attacks such as Isshin's spinning forcewave. Divine Abduction is super helpful if you end up in combat against multiple tougher enemies at once. These are just things I figured out while playing the game, and I'm sure there are many more situations in which certain tools are useful that I've simply not discovered or thought of yet. You need to experiment to figure this stuff out. If you just use a tool in some situation and find it underwhelming and then decide it's useless you're simply doing it wrong.
I've used the flamevent on everything, it just sucks and is a waste of time, even when buffed with Oil.
I've used the axe on most enemies too. It sucks. It's too slow, and genuinly only useful against the what, the 2 or 3 enemies that have shields?
Isshins spinning flash is insanely easy to dodge, you literally stand next to him.
>Divine Abduction is useful against multiple stronger enemies A shame that the main strategy in Sekiro is to checkpoint hop, since there's barely reason to fight anything since your rewards are useless. You're better off running past everything, and then grinding in specific locations.
David Clark
Zoomers are the one eating this shit up you absolute retard.
Why is this so highly rated? >Barely any rpg elements >Very little customization. Basically one style of fighting >Most side arms don't actually work >No pvp >Very little meaningful content outside main quest >Little replay value >Far more cinematic and less subtle >Generic modern military setting
The worst thing about it to me is the AI. In dark souls it made sense because the mobs were all undead so you'd expect them to act like zombies. But not here. The AI is so blatantly poorly implemented that it's laughable. Ever streamer I watched was only able to beat the game because they just exploited the shitty AI by picking mobs one at a time, avoiding aggroing the other mobs, and circle strafing.
Jose Hernandez
linear as fuck, it's still terrible.
Mason Powell
I haven't played RDR2 but this doesn't look very good.
Austin Hall
Ironically enough, you can parry their lasers too. >Finger whistle with the ring makes fights against apparitions much quicker and easier. I hope you're not implying that this is a good thing. There's absolutely no risk involved in using the whistle (same goes for using the Shuriken against Butterfly, the Spear against Ape and many more), it just makes the fights insanely easy. They're badly implemented.
Bentley Cooper
sabimaru is good to poison every enemy.
shurikens are super useful if you think you only use them on dogs makes me think you never explored you options with tools shuriken can be used to make every enemy in the air fall wich is super useful and also as a close the gap and to kill ranged enemy you can't reach easily.
umbrella is super strong it's an easier deflect for free and you do more damage after you block
Owen Rogers
Poison damage sucks ass on everything besides Okami Warriors.
This is retarded, rhythm games are 10x faster and the songs are always inputting the same shit in a line that you can just memorize. They don't change dynamically based on factors like distance and player action like when fighting in Sekiro, nor do they require directing the camera or any kind of 3D movement control. The similarities are superficial at best
Jeremiah Bell
>Barely any rpg elements this isn't an rpg, what are you even trying to say
Is it BB or DS2 fanboys who keep making these low-effort Sekiro/DS3 hate threads?
Tyler Johnson
it's a joke you absolute mongoloid
Jaxon Gutierrez
>The problem is that they are far too situational to be even remotely useful. They’re situationally useful. I don’t see why that makes them useless. The majority of bosses have some kind of weakness to a prosthetic that can be incorporated into a strategy.
Michael Flores
>Barely any rpg elements I agree. Also, whatever there is, is not really implemented well. >Very little customization. Basically one style of fighting The combat system in Sekiro is fleshed out enough to allow for several approaches to combat without requiring more customization than it has. Overall, combat in Sekiro feels generally better than in Soulsborne. >Most side arms don't actually work I actually agree here. It's not that they "don't work" it's that when you could really use a tool you could also use something else that takes priority for spending Spirit Emblems. The whole Spirit Emblems concept is pretty dumb and was implemented very poorly >No pvp I don't care about PvP in my single-player games. >Very little meaningful content outside main quest Well that's because there is more than a single approach to the main quest. I would also argue that the quality of its side-content is higher than Soulsborne usually does. >Little replay value To be honest it's about as replayable as Soulsborne for me - as in "not very". Even more, Sekiro was the only one of them I bothered starting NG+ in but I switching to playing something else relatively quickly. >Far more cinematic and less subtle That's a pro. You are mistaking "subtle" with "cryptic". Unlike Soulsborne, Sekiro does not require you to read Wiki to understand the story. Reading through every item description and replaying the game multiple times to see all the little stuff might be a nice community thing (see literally fucking FNaF) but it brings nothing to the experience of the game itself. Not to mention, Sekiro still has some of the "cryptic" stuff in it so you do have to interpret some things instead of being directly told them. >Generic sengoku setting I dunno man, immortal centipedes, giant apes, people turning demons just because, literal gods, etc. strike me as anything but "generic". You might not know what the world "setting" means.
Brandon Adams
yeah the boss doesn't respawn, his pal does though
Jonathan Howard
It's a smug "half-joke" like calling a Sony game a "literal movie" and it deserves to be ripped on for the sake of any lurkers retarded enough to actually take it seriously, thinking the combat is ultra simple (and therefore bad)
