Why the fuck does game have so many pointless chores?
Did Rockstar actually think people would find cleaning their weapons every other hour fun?

Rockstar has no strong game design directors.
i like the sound dirty weapons make, and when im tired of it i just clean the gun and thats it
Why are you even cleaning your gun every other hour? It doesn't even decay that fast and it's pointless unless you want the pristine gunfire sound back.
And yes the gun cleaning is the best shit, especially in first person. Gun porn at its best.
I dropped it entirely because I couldn't handle the game removing my loadout every few minutes.
What is even the point in getting weapon skins if they get unequipped constantly so you rarely get to even use them.
It sure as fuck is fun to have the character simply remove your long gun of choice all the time.
Wut. Only chore you kinda have to do is clean your guns and eat.
they're not chores they're immersive tasks to connect you to the rich and lifelike world around you aren't you grateful for these memories and experiences? come on lets go meme on reddit together and share our joy!
I would like the game a lot more if it didn't feel like shit to play and you didn't have to eat
I enjoy little mundane things in games that I'm too lazy to do in real life.
people who like to roleplay and play RPGs like these kind of mechanics, if not, people with patience don't mind them, who hates them though? Zoomers. That's who.
Do you even understand the concept of "slow burn"?

>replying to himself
>roleplay
This isn't an RPG autismo
yet it does roleplaying elements better than any RPG I've ever played. And even without the core values of an RPG (roles, for a start) I can still LARP in-game and it would feel authentic.
They're becoming less video games and more escapist experience simulations.
You're not the target audience of this particular chore simulator so just leave it alone.
Anyone who voices displeasure about literally anything in the development team if you're not one of the head honchos, gets you fired.
Then you haven't played many RPGs
Yes, you joyless cunt. Some people like to do minor busy work in their games to immerse thenselves more in the experience. Your not everyone, idiot.
Suggest 5 good open world RPGs that aren't t*rn based.
Protip: I already played every TES, Every Witcher, Dragon's Dogma, Planescape torment.
think I cleaned my weapons 5 times total throughout the game, don't even think they can break
>level up horse
>level up stats
>towns populated ith npc you can talk to
>sidequests
>character customization
>choices that lead to different endings
>not an rpg
could have fooled me.
>On Holiday 30th Aug - 10th Sept
Is RDR2 a good 4K HDR game? I am tempted to pick it up to chill out with while on holiday.
Other games I am considering;
>Horizon
>Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5
>Yakuza 0
>Witcher 3 GOTY
literally redefining role playing on the spot, everyone knows what an rpg is and you're stretching it
>Is RDR2 a good 4K HDR game?
yes
>When you play survival games that require you to do every retarded chore there is to keep your character in their top game, you do it with a fucking smile on your face, but when rdr2 adds some survival elements to make the game feel more realistic and immersive, you go apeshit
The absolute state of Yea Forums
Have fun pissing your pants in kojimbo's game
Get RDR2 for breathtaking world, visuals, and a solid story with a slow takeoff, kino sections, very good protag, fun roleplaying.
Get Horizon Zero Dawn for a relatable protag, 10/10 combat, great world, amazing slow-reveal story.
Get The Witcher 3 GOTY for a lifetime's experience, one of the greatest protagonists, one of the most beautiful hand-weaved worlds in a video game, amazing characters, interesting enemy variety, side quests & DLC's that are better than the main storyline, a great branching storyline that you can steer as you want.
>HZD - 10/10 combat
>W3 - hand-weaved world, interesting enemy variety, great storyline (that you can steer how you want)
holy fuck my man kill yourself.
I don't mind shit like cleaning weapons, makes sense. Having to do it less frequently would be nice though. Hunting and cooking food is alright with me too.
The main problem with the game is the character controls which grief me more than other players do. eg; There's a auto cover feature....where, get this...you press the LT to aim near a piece of cover and you're forced into this slow ass animation of taking cover.....in a game with auto aim. SOOO, in the middle of the auto cover animation, where you can't do anything but wait for it to finish...an opposing player can just auto aim head shot you. Now I play corners tight, because it's the smart play to display as little of your character...the wrong corners actually work to a disadvantage for you because it sucks you into an animation that you can't escape. Not only that but it will glitch and contort your body in narrow doorways at times.
The game was designed by literal fuck wits.
The other major problem is the baby back bullshit aka all the handicaps it attempts to give players. Game was obviously made by bitch asses who suck at video games for other bitch asses who suck at video games.
The auto aim shit (nothing like getting auto aimed from your flank, such skill, such talent) the tonic chugging shit, the dead eye cards that magically make you invincible, there are so many obnoxious irritating imbalances in this game.
The irony? This liberal douche bag company added all these participation trophy-esque features "to create a fair and easy and balanced game". Only it did the exact opposite. It created massive imbalances where shit players get absolutely wrecked by all the baby back bullshit mechanics that were mean to help shitty baby players.
Well done, Shitstar.
Heh
I've played through the prologue yesterday
>there's a monster bear nearby, better be careful, John!
shit, I guess I will prepare my shotgun
>cutscene 1 shows me with a shotgun
>suddenly cutscene 2
>shotgun gone
>bear attacks
>i have to use a handgun
>a different handgun i had equipped at that
>scripted "bear fucks you up" moment
why
then, an hour later
>watch out John, there's a sniper there you better fucking do the scripted sequence of walking from cover to cover because he is invulnerable to damage at this point of the scrpt!!
seriously i liked the characters and writing, but the gameplay design is a disgrace
seething cynical contrariaboo Yea Forumsigger
are you sure you played rdr2 and not 1?
yep, must be.
the problem is it's not very well balanced, I liked doing these things but it's surface level, if they put in shit like that they might as well do it properly, I love the game as it is, but I can see why people think of these things as chores and others think it's "not enough"
Ah shit, Epilogue, not prologue. A typo.
stretching it, health get bigger, stamina get bigger, is gta a role playing game because you can steal a faster car, thereby upgrading it
based on the definition of rpg that has been used for the last 30 years this wouldn't be considered a role playing game, the stats and character leveling don't have enough depth
not to mention
>resource consumption
>weight gain mechanics
>sleep mechanics
>wide variety of consumable items that mirror potions in other games
>complex crafting system that requires you to search for and utilise resources, many of them rare and hard to find
RDR2 is literally an RPG.
I didn't play RDR2 so can't judge how it was done there but cleaning your weapon from time to time in order to avoid having it jam in combat sounds pretty cool. But I'm the type of player who likes to spend half an hour observing the enemy encampment from a hill nearby, thinking up strategy, preparing the most suitable weapon and whatever other paraphernalia a game has (for example I love the Witcher-y idea of brewing up potions that are useful in combat against a specific kind of enemies, a shame that Witcher games didn't do it right) and executing the attack in 2 minutes.
is ninja Gaiden a role playing game
gta
can pick up armor to upgrade health stat
can steal a faster car, therefore an upgrade
can get better weapons therefore an upgrade
is gta considered an rpg, no
>gta
>
>can pick up armor to upgrade health stat
>can steal a faster car, therefore an upgrade
>can get better weapons therefore an upgrade
>
>is gta considered an rpg, no
then why haven't you played RDR2 yet? story missions are pretty scripted, they have cool moments though, but in free roam you can do that kind of shit, there are many hideouts out there you can attack whenever you want, there are like 5-6 or more gangs you can find in them, they just chill out at their camp doing their shit, you can watch them, prepare, clean your gun, craft different types of ammunition, tonics, explosives and stuff
controls might feel stiff, but you can adjust it to make it a lot better desu
It's not on PC
why isn't gta an rpg, I can upgrade all of those things just like rdr2
it's a shame, sorry you can't play it right now but I'm pretty sure it's coming to pc later
I'm actually thinking about buying a better pc when they announce it
I'm not bad with a controller, but I hate auto aim bullshit in shooters and you just can't be a real lightning fast legendary gunslinger with a controller, only if you use dead eye but that's just not the same
>aren't you grateful for these memories and experiences?
Not when they suck
You feel like a real cowboy yet?
They don't break just the stats get shittier until you clean
I might be wrong, but I suspect you never tried it in any game. A lot of people complain about certain kind of mechanics on Yea Forums and when you talk to them some more, 99% of the time they turn out to be rushers (people who rush through games because they want to finish them as soon as possible). It's like they hate playing games so they try to do it the fastest they can so they can finally be over with it. I don't think it's ADHD, it's too common.
You should try it user. Find a game that has some of those "chore" mechanics and take your time with them. Immerse, prepare, plan, adapt. If it turns out it's not your thing, it's fine, but at least try it.
Harvest Moon is literally chores: the game and I still love those games today, I tried everything in RDR2 and it's all poorly done. Because I really like watching a 10 second cutscene every single time I skin an animal, fishing mini game that's more boring than fishing in real life, etc. These things are neat the first few times you do them they just get repetitive and in the way, it ruins the pacing
There's nothing to "prepare, plan, adapt" you moron. The mechanics are piss easy, there's just no reason for them to be there, that's why they're annoying. Either go full blow autism simulator and make them mean something or don't put them in the game at all.
Theres no way you fuckers dont realize the insane stretching and exaggeration you are engaging in. RDR2 is not an RPG, and these mechanics have hardly any depth at all. Stop being disingenuous retards.
I wouldnt mind it if it werent for the horribly awful and delayed controls. And no, the settings dont make them feel much better
>Did Rockstar actually think people would find cleaning their weapons every other hour fun?
Obviously not. The game is geared towards people who want a touch of realism. It's not for everyone, this is not a bad thing, you bitching about it is.
>The game is geared towards people who want a touch of realism
It's a shame for all those people that wanted another RDR1 and just got the shaft.
>REEEE STOP CRITICIZING MY FAVORITE GAME
Triggered retard
You're right. BOTW is masterpiece meanwhile Rdr2 is full of shit
>touch of realism
>auto aim gun combat
>1 man army bullet sponging
Epilogue?
Is that Gay Tony?
Nice
wtf I thought i was on /pol/
This game is comfy and can teach you about patience, I understand a lot of people are impatient these days and wants their endorphin release as quick as possible but RDR2 is a slow burn game where the details shine when you take the time to enjoy them instead of rushing to objective, try just doing a comfy ride, enjoying the scenery, the atmosphere etc. Personally it really changed my perspective on games and I appreciate the details in all games now even more because of RDR2.
>can't have X feature because muh realism
>time travel sidequest is okay
Don't even get me started on honor not mattering
