Depends on what you liked about p3. If it was the atmosphere, you're better off playing mainline. For animu hijinks play p4 and 5.

Lawsuit is still ongoing, will probably end in some kind of settlement where both sides can claim victory, don't expect him to actually get anything from it and it's just as likely he'll quietly drop it, he's still popular enough that he'll get hired again once companies think the whole thing will blow over.

Persona 3 doesn't need a remake.

It’s not like Persona is some gritty dark series. P3 is because the main theme is death. P1 had a happy ending, P2 was kind of bittersweet but still ultimately had a happy ending

If this were true then Junpei would've stayed dead and the karaoke ending would be canon. The point of P3 is that you need to live to the fullest instead of giving up, because miracles can always happen. It would be 100% consistent with P3's themes if SEES came together for one last miracle to grant peace to the soul of their friend.

They do bring him back all the time already in spinoffs and the like, they just don't bring him back in anything that takes place after P3 because he's fucking dead, I can't believe fans of the game would actually want to undo what was probably the best part of his game by bringing him back just for fanservice's sake, nullifying the sacrifice he made in P3.

Beyond that P3 is not some niche game nobody has heard of that is overcast by the game's that followed it, that's P1-2. P3 characters show up in the spinoffs, in then promos for the soundbombs, P3 got a manga and 4 movies, P3 fans are plenty pandered to. The reason they don't bring back the door is because it's retarded and unnecessary, not because people just can't handle how "dark" P3 is and can only accept light-hearted stuff, which isn't even true to begin with.

Honestly in the age of merchandising and pandering to anime fans who want the status quo to remain. You got to hand it to Atlus for having atleast some restraint to not dig up Makoto's grave and drag that guy out for fan service set after his death.

P3 isn't dark and gritty either, it just has a heavy atmosphere sometimes. It's a game with peeping on girls when they're in the onsen and it has a fighting dog, it also ends on a life affirming note. The start of P5 and the bad ends of P4 are darker and grittier than anything in P3. That's not necessarily a good or bad thing but P3 just isn't as dark as it's made out to be.

I do appreciate it and I'm not even that into P3. It always amazes me that people who adore the game actually want him back.

Realistically though, how could they give a satisfying enough answer in regards to bringing him back? The reason for him being the seal is not something they can just improperly handle with a shitty explanation.

I'd disagree, Persona 3 is a lot more in your face about it than Persona 4 with the whole city falling to the cult and apathy syndrome zombies on the street. Not to mention the more somber mood of Tartarus compared to the more action packedness of P4's dungeons.

I'd say people downplay P4's heaviness and dark side really. A lot of social links are people who can't properly manage relationships, their feelings etc. and not to mention the whole serial killer plotline

P3 is more in your face with it's dark elements, but I still would not describe it as dark and gritty. Somber would be an accurate description, and 4 and 5 are not somber despite being dark at times, but I wouldn't describe any of them as dark and gritty. P3 has plenty of moments of anime hijinks, it has an ultimately life-affirming message and it's most gritty moments aren't that bad at all. I'm not saying it's a happy-go-lucky game or something, but I would not call it dark and gritty, it's just a little moody.
