Trading is completely fleshed out.
Tons of unique strategic resources around the map to fight for.
Alot of political intrigue like assassinations, political reforms, religious influence.
NPCs can be smart as fuck, but also really dumb. You never know if you'll find yourself in a red wedding.
You can buy a house in any city and just be a regular person working a regular job.

Mount and blade A Clash of Kings isn't bad. Haven't tried the other mod though. The GoT mod for Total War Atilla is pretty neat but only works for skirmish mode.

ACOK has been getting worse and worse over years, awoiaf (the other one) oppiste, It got much better over time. And awoiaf is more user friendly (less cruel) with these random events for example. Also has actual giants (recrutable under some condition) and many, many more.

tl;dr ACOK used to be dank, but turned into unplayable shit later on (due to bugs), awoiaf was solid, but pretty autistic mod which got much better over time (also /mbg/'s choice, if someone cares).
