Add to the fact the soundtrack was way better than the gameplay as well. It's probably the best soundtrack out of all ps1 games though.

Sweet, the graphical improvement from the first game to Type 4 on the PSX is really impressive, you can really tell that Type 4 was pushing the PSX to its limits while still keeping it completely playable with a stable framerate and minimal pop-in.

Type 4 is pretty good, but I would suggest the PSP game, it is really good and it probably the easiest to get used to, also has a lot of content. After that move on to Type 4 then go wherever you choose after that.

This thing is fucking ancient but works like new, the book is sagging in the middle from sitting on a shelf for almost 30 years.
I don't have any consoles but it runs just fine in my buddies old PS3

Reason is:
A) Don't have a psp/vita
B) This craptop can barely handle minecraft above 30 fps so no way in hell will it run a psp emulator

PS3: Ridge Racer 7
PS2: Ridge Racer V
PSX: Ridge Racer Type 4

if you have the option then I'd suggest start out with Type 4.

PS3 also has T4.

Type 4 is on ps3 I believe, so I'll probably grab that then 7 afterwards and work my way down to V.
