It's a minimalist setup to utilize as few resources as possible so the majority of it can be reserved for games, because the Switch hardware is already constrained as it is up against the kind of titles publishers want to slap onto it.

The Switch is probably the fastest console I have played with. Compared with the PS4 were the navigation of menus and submenus slow down to a halt, and buggy as fuck store navigation that often just bug out and you have to restart the whole console again.

There isn't really a need for it though, it's legacy implementation from a time when TVs had more difficult to manipulate, or no alterable, settings for such things. Now, even the cheapest TVs you buy have multiple settings options and can apply them to individual input devices/sockets.

Downloads list needs an overhaul and the trophies list is not a good interface for displaying trophies but you're right, aside from that it was pretty fucking excellent.

Just beat chapter 2. It's my second time giving it a shot though. I burned myself out on it and stopped back in February. I'm really having fun just focusing on the campaign and a bit of exploring here and there. I probably won't touch any side quests. I like the characters but the story is dumb.

The UI isn't bad and the ability to easily dive into eshop is nice, but as I collect more games, I would really like a easier way to go to the bigger selection screen faster.

Switch is the only console worth getting because its the only actual handheld console being supported. Xbox and PS are just shitty underpowered PCs with hardware locked games. The WiiU had an universal controller included, it was a great additon, no reason to disable the slider when docked, the feature is there already, I'm not asking for impossibles, just a change in a line of code.

It's simple, and it's scaled effectively enough to be easy to use in both handheld and docked modes (which is a consideration that a lot of Switch games miss the boat on, text and UI elements always feel scaled for one or the other)

I just don't like how the switch doesn't have themes and if there was, they'd probably lag like fuck so maybe when New Switch comes we'll get themes perhaps. Sometimes happens to me after I close down a game, and then check my game library to play another and it crashes as I am browsing it(I go nice and slow instead of rapidly going through it like an idiot).

For fuck sake, PS4 has 8GB of RAM and no way it can crash from RAM overload. At most, it should be using 1-2GB or RAM when going into the PS Store or closing down a game and browsing your game library but nope, fucking console crashes.

Switch has 4GB of RAM and you do that same function such as checking your game library or on eShop and its using probably less than 1GB of RAM with no issues.

Sony really needs to fix the RAM usage because it may be memory leak or something in the next firmware update.

Both of those were shot digitally.

Switch dedicates 512mb RAM for it's OS operations + Screenshot & video recording (Hence the 30 second limit), while the PS4 apparently devotes around 2GB for the same thing (Though in turn also does things like voice networking along with 15 min video saving). The Switch's e-Shop is at worse a 32mb load given it doesn't cache anything from it beyond what page you were on last (And even then has hard limits on images kept in RAM for data list, hence why after searching past so many games, the farther list start to lag as it nukes the earlier lists images). The PS4 on the other hand just doesn't do any self managing from what all results put out for it's online shop.
