fuck you OP, i didn't want to feel
Why do you guys hate on this :'(
I miss them. Why aren't there any fun rival villains these days?
How's Zero so much better than classic Megaman?
Better movement, fun sword mechanics, deeply satisfying if you git gud
I'm absolutely terrible but still enjoy it more.
I cleared the Zero series but still can't bring myself to clear a full classic game.
Daily reminder that X should've been the big bad. Copy X is retarded.
Nah
I feel comparing them is like apples and oranges, but the speed of Zero is definitely very satisfying.
Is it just a coincidence Capcom started to lose their soul when Inafune left?
I hate how they scrapped they concept.
At the very least, don't let us know X is a copy hours before we actually fight him, it ruined any impact that could've been there.
It goes from "Zero forced to fight his best friend" to "Bad guy of the week but this time he looks like X!"
Also Omega had the coolest boss idea/atmosphere out of the entire series
the music and speed
you're a goddamn cyborg you should be fast
Please, tell me nobody uses elfs.
>when music picks up in mmz2 intro
I for one don't since I like my rank being high
I feel like they're a bit too diffenrent to compare at this point.
3>1>2>4
Zero is cute
Classic Mega Man is precision run-and-gun platforming, but in a very methodical way that usually doesn't require you to be speedy so much as just very attentive. X spiked the adrenaline up but several of the games are incredibly easy and turn into enemy destroying gauntlets with bits of platforming along the way. Zero's got that crazy blend of adrenaline and precision, where all hell breaks loose unless you're masterful enough to control the chaos and cut everything down within seconds.
WATDOUTHINKYURDOIN
Weil was right, reploids needed to be eliminated.
Why does Megaman have so many fan bands compared to other series?
Forgot pic
two (counting the megas) is that much of a difference over mostly zero?
Inafune gave us X5, DmC, Bionic Commando's reboot, Z3 leaving Weil alive at the end and necessitating Z4 to wrap that up, and Legends 3 teased but never farther along than a demo.
the idea that X would go that crazy IS retarded
Inafune was literally responsible for how soulless Capcom was for a while.
I am guessing more variety on tracks than other well know franchises.
Today I will remind them
based off what? design? stage? music?
>no stardroids
>no mega man killers
>no robots from the wonderswan or dos games
>make a tier list of robot masters
>well over three quarters of them are in one humongous "default" group with just a few outliers above and below
4>2>1>3
Wait, why did they give her hair?
Extension of these
Rockman trying to edge in on the mobage market is weird. Besides that, Gunvolt had better mecha musume/robot girl designs which infuriates me to no end.
Just downloaded the Misadventures of Tron Bonne. What am I in for?
fun and games
and fun
it's a good game user
Where's Dr. Light inventing robots in the first place as the first domino?
Mega Man 10 has the best classic series soundtrack and I don't understand why everyone hates it
Yeah, I was never quite sure about his role during his employment, but I guess he really did more harm than good and Capcom is slowly recovering from that after the left the company.
Short.
Zero meaningful story.
Bunch of minigames.
Wishing you could replay the "story" missions again for more.
But still, it's quite fun. Screwing around with Tron is amusing. Replaying it to build up more of your servbots to use on missions is quite nice. Plus, robbing absolutely everything that isn't nailed down is great. So is stomping on servbots, or blowing up houses while they're still inside.
Gunvolt has excellent designs for its bosses, but I can't handle the edge. Also, basing an MM derivative sidescroller around a score based system is wonky.
Dr. Light is obviously the guy tipping the blocks.
This list is just terrible
For the x series
>BURN TO THE GROUND
post a better list then.
What a shit list
>beat all the Zero games as a dumb elementary school kid
>couldn't figure out the word scramble puzzles in Battle Network
Am I retarded
agreed, except orignal should be a bump higher. the level design alone carries it despite inconveniences
Swap S tier and A tier desu
I hate the idolshit godmode during practice attempts.
Here's mine
I'd make Man vs God as MMX8
>Mega Man Zero keeps getting passed up for Maverick Hunter Zero in fighting games save for one
>DS is still the only place to play the entire series with no foreseeable effort to bring it to modern platforms
I'll admit I hated the art style coming from X, but these days Mega Man Zero is easily my favorite set of games in the series and incarnation of the titular character. I wish this version of Zero got more exposure in general.
>Man vs. Society
MMZ1
>Man vs. Man
MMZ2
>Man vs. Self
MMZ3
>Man vs. God
MMZ4
How anatomically correct are reploids?
Idolshit is integral to the story since muses = gods basically.
I hate killing the bosses because they're so cute and likable (doesn't help that half of them are teenagers/orphans either). Like I remember one boss just pleading with you to leave and that she didn't want to fight. One thing about MM is that they tend not to humanize throwaway bosses, either by design or backstory. MM can get across tragedy without making the player feel like shit. I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that Megaman protags tend to be endearing and the ones who get the brunt of the tragedy ball; you want them to succeed. GV and Copen are not that likable in comparison.
yeah. his zero design does not get much love
Why people rate 9 so low
To be honest 90% of all Mega Man crossovers are with Classic or X.
> GV and Copen are not that likable in comparison.
Regret. Zero and X are both shown to be regretful and affected by the reploids they kill, for the most part. X4 had them trying to get the Repliforce to stand down and bemoaning the senselessness of the conflict. I think the only game where they were outright being edgelords is X5, and that's because the world is coming to an end and they're succumbing to Sigma virus infections. Its been about 3 years since I played it, but I remember the GV protags treating all the death they caused casually (and in the white haired dudes case, even outright enjoying it). I think that's why people say that GV is edgy while MMX and MMZ are dark.
I wonder if Wily would've gone through with Zero & The Virus if knew what it leads to. He seems more of the "WORSHIP MY GREATNESS" bad guy than a "KILL'EMALL" edgelord like Dr. Vile.
GV hates pointless battles and death because he wanted to give Joule a more normal life, and doesn't agree with Adept superiority and genocide against humanity, but he's still a soldier and will mercilessly kill anyone in his path if he has to get the job done. Copen on the other hand is pure "kill all the Adepts" with no remorse, and the only time he falters, ever, was when he found out his sister was one all along - so he abandoned her to let her live a normal life while he continued his blood-stained path without looking back.
For me, the game took too many steps back in different ways.
Care to elaborate?
>Repliforce
>senseless conflict
The Repliforce wasn't helping when they started acting like terrorists.
>General meets with some really suspicious guy telling everyone to go to war against humanity
>"nah, go away"
>"YOU WILL REGRET THIS"
>Sky Lagoon gets blown up and blamed on the Repliforce
>Colonel flips the fuck out at the accusation and runs off going "MUH HONOR"
>General just fucking shrugs and rolls with it and the Repliforce makes a giant fucking space laser cannon as a means of forcing humanity to grant them their freedom
Sigma deserved to laugh at their expense.
It's pretty heavily suggested that Wily isn't evil, the only reason he's motivated to act on his resentments is because of the Evil Energy that Duo hunts.
The fact they went full retard after Sigma merely gave them a pep talk (don't think he even bothered with they virus) is part of how senseless it was.
Don't forget doing shit like invading with a space armada, having a secret giant laser in a jungle, blowing up a city and killing Steve Irwin.
It's kinda more complicated than that. The human governments were breathing down their necks over recent failures, even claiming that they were in league with the mavericks and that they would be "retired" if they didn't start showing more victories. This caused a lot of anger and distrust among Repliforce, who were doing their best and sacrificing themselves despite being underfunded for the surge in Maverick activity. The whole Sky Lagoon shit was just the camel that broke their back.
They got rid of charge and slide to make it like MM2, and the difficulty feels cheap at times. I'm not bad at Megaman, but MM9 gave me a lot of shit when I first played it. I feel like there are too many beginner's traps, and the level design asks for too much.
Wasn't it Cain that built the Repliforce? That's your answer why they were retarded. Shit, it took 2 centuries for someone to build something on par with Light & Wily(Copy X), and they still fucked up.
Evil Energy only showed up in 8 though.
He's just hyper petty, and this pettiness festered for years until stuff just went completely out of control.
I just wonder how crazy powerful a robot would have been if Wily, Light and Cossack all co-operated on making an X/Zero tier one together. Or even how much better the Double Gear System could have been with them developing it over the years.
Too bad all the game shows is Colonel going "MUH HONOR" and then the entire Repliforce goes full retard.
I mean it wasn't simply victories and failures. They were formed by Dr. Cain to be a sort of military police, intended on cooperating with Maverick Hunters on a ground level, and quell rising Maverick numbers. And they utterly failed at doing their job to the point that society was starting to think that they were aiding the creation of Mavericks.
Then they put Colonel in charge. Colonel, a byproduct of a failed attempt at recreating X with a perfect soldier program of both capable combat and human compassion, and their incapability to do this led to splitting the compassion off to Iris, and the combat off to Colonel. They literally put a robot man who is nothing but 100% honorable warfare unga bunga in secondary charge of a military police army, and General just fucking goes with it.
The style grew on me too. I like how mythical some of the Reploids look. Like they evolved to godhood.
Despite Sumeragi being pretty fucking evil (what with all the human experimentation), and Nova being a prideful 14 year old with a messiah/god complex, I think that GV was in the wrong during the first game. Dude was played like a fiddle by Asimov and threw the whole world into chaos (increasing adept-human resentment and allowing the Eden situation to happen) because of his waifu (who he doesn't even get in the end). Original ending was even worse, with the other nations nuking Japan once Sumeragi was taken down. But then, GV is just a 14 year old child soldier without a family, like most of the adepts, and not exactly a rational actor.
It's Sigma, how can you resist him?
Yeah, you can really see Legends evolving out of some of the designs. I don't like how childlike or soft the artist draws em though.
I think Copy X being real X would have been lame.
and this is the whole issue of the timeline of X
>hey, we an make thinking robots now with feelings!
>okay, lets stick them in highly specialized bodies to fill the roles we want them to fill
>boss I don't think this one likes being called PalettePro997, he wants to study to become a doctor
>eh just cut and paste his ambitions into a real doctor reploid
>later...
>wtf why are reploids demanding freedom and accusing use of torture and unfair treatment?
am I a gay diaperfag if I like Zero's codpiece design
I bet this is how it really started.
>we can make waifubots that actually love you, a step above those sexdolls
>they aren't loving our customers, fuck
>let's just make them animals instead and do menial jobs then, fuck
>Dude was played like a fiddle by Asimov
Wasn't so much playing like a fiddle as it was thinking Gunvolt would side with him in the end.
>gunvoltfags take over and ruin another mega man thread
like clockwork
Post more Megaman then.
If the Megaman franchise were a girl, then Gunvolt would be like the more attractive, but dumber sister.
>more attractive
hardly
>dumber
absolutely
gunvolt is a bad game
Like as dumb as it is to make thinking robots, basically mass-producing superhumans who can save their brains and put them in new bodies however much they want, it's way dumber to try to treat them like normal idiot robots who are built for a task, and this world fucked up both times
>Hey lets put a bunch of robots in a facility where their forced to melt down their own kind!
>Why are they revolting?
I agree with your take on the Zero character designs, easily my least favorite but I can see how things change. I still think Zero's buster shot gun is full retard for designs, though.
Reminder that this little shit did what Sigma never could
More attractive, as in GV knows how to make some damn fine mecha-looking waifus not that it really matters because you're going to brutally kill them.
I wonder what triggered the global flood that sets up Legends setting?
I feel like the X series is the worst overall, failing to have either charm like Classic or style like Zero. It's the wannabe cool guy of the franchise.
Stabbing a carcass is not a great accomplishment.
Roll doujins
Still better than Sigma
It really doesn't.
MM Legacy Collection on the 3DS is on sale for $5. Is that a good deal? I know its only 1-6 but's still less than a dollar per game - I'm just not sure if the collection itself runs shitty or anything.
Ever wonder why there is absolutely no trace of teleportation tech in Legends?
Scratch that, forgot about the warp gates on Elysium.
Sounds like a good deal to me, yes. Those games run fine on the 3DS from my experience, although I have the physical version. The games have a bunch of extras like clearing small parts of stages from the games, and completing a series of them on a timer, so it's worth picking up even if you have each individual game separately.
Maybe not worth it if you already have it on another system, or are planning on just getting them all on something like PC. 3DS didn't get all the collections, if that matters to you.
>Uses the dash-stab EX attack
>Omega dies in less than ten seconds
Sounds like a hoot then, thanks user. I just really have had an itch for the older MM games after playing a ton of 10 and 11, and I've never played 4-6.
I still prefer 9's overall but goddamn when 10 strikes it strikes hard.
Inafune's been always a "can't live with you, but can't live without you either" case for Capcom.
Guy was the only one interested in Mega Man for a while, but he's also the reason why Zero turned into the face of franchise's platform games while the Blue Bomber got shafted in favour of becoming an RPG mascot.
I think it would have worked better if Zero had more character agency. Like he doesn't understand why, but he knows in his mechanical heart that the X who decided to slaughter countless innocent Reploids can't possibly really be X. Because Zero believed in X more than anyone. Even if he loses his memories, his faith in his friend will never disappear, and he'll carry a strong conviction that this "X" can possibly be X at all.
Kay. This is what she'd look like if she were in GV, except she'd have some tragic backstory about how she's an orphan and only fighting you because her human little brother is being held hostage by terrorist, but you don't give a shit and kill her anyways, resulting in her brother dying.
Faggot
Half-assed. You need to make the yellow parts of her body blue and the white parts black. And the "skintight" areas grey.
Playing through Zero for the first time since its original release, when I didn't take it seriously and just wanted something to hold me over until the next X game.
Really neat gameplay, held back by its hardware. An awful artstyle and soundchip, in addition to no hotswap button for weapons/elements make it feel slower than it should. Spear and Boomerang Edge aren't fun to use, and the charged saber slash is busted as shit. Story sounds fun on paper but 80% of the dialogue is Ciel apologizing to you and talking about making a new energy source and I just don't care.
Solid first attempt, and hoping the rest are better.
>An awful artstyle
Trash opinion
I'm also missing highheels, but ain't no amount of shooping going to fix that.
Regardless of how cool some of the boss designs are, all the main characters, especially Zero, look terrible.
And its not just the characters. The levels are bland and colorless, and lack any sort of interesting scenery. Its just deserts and ruins, and even if that's the tone the game is going for, there are better ways to do it than what they did. But I can blame that on hardware limitations and what I imagine is a limited budget.
patrician
NPC
>Regardless of how cool some of the boss designs are, all the main characters, especially Zero, look terrible.
Like I said, trash opinion. MMZ Zero looks way better than this clunky shit.
I swear you could set a shoulder button to swap weapons.
Absolutely not. nu-Zero looks peak fuccboi and is objective garbage.
>Absolutely not.
I agree. You absolutely do not have good taste.
Those legs aren't shooped are they?
Geez, is Gunvolt really that bad? Haven't played it yet, but it sounds like it makes Zero look like sunshine and rainbows in comparison.
I don't really mind boobs in vidya but her just look like two balls glued together
Nah, X Zero looks timeless while Nu-Zero looks too feminine despite the irony being that Nu-Zero is the more violent of the two
Both Zero's look good.
Attack mode type C lets you swap between you main and sub weapon on the fly
You are my buddy.
It's not bad but I mistook this design for a female the first time I saw it
It's a bad game. Bad plot, bad gameplay, bad character design, bad everything.
The only reason it got as popular as it did was because people were sucked Inti's cock.
Luckily Mighty No. 9 came around and showed people that Inti have always been a bunch of hacks.
>Oh shit
Mega Man 4 kind of sucks but it's still Mega Man, had fun with my replay today
Because Zero is focused on the speed and it really feels better than the slow trial and error gameplay of the classic games
X is a mixbag of these 2
For once, they're not memeing. GV can get really grimderpy. Like one of the final bosses is a 10 year old orphan brainwashed by a religious terrorist group and acting as their messianic figurehead. You don't bother talking her down after beating her up like you think you would, you kill her. In the new game, 4 out of 7 of the "Adept Masters" you kill are forced to fight you because the badguys are holding their loved ones hostage. One of them even tries to help you/cut a deal (since he realizes that you both have the same enemy, really), but your character tells him to shut up and die, and then kills him. Like do not be deceived by the cute art Inti puts out, this is NOT a cute game.
You have three options for weapon selection: A for main weapon and R for sub weapon, A for main weapon and R+A for sub weapon, or A for currently selected weapon and R to change the weapon selected. All three limit you to just two weapons equipped, but the "spear" in all games is more a situational weapon and the shield boomerang even more so. (Note that the boomerang shield will deliver element damage with a charged throw, something the other weapons don't have access to without higher charge levels.) The first weapon option I mentioned allows you to charge both weapons at the same time, although the other two will allow you to charge one weapon and then swap to the other one to use it's full charge attack.
I've played 40 hours of the striker collection and never read a line of dialogue. Maybe that's y'alls problem?
Hur hur good guy is the bad guy
That's legitimately retarded even for it's time
"This isn't fun anymore"
>The only reason it got as popular as it did was because people were sucked Inti's cock.
The only reason people got into it is because of Capcom's mismanagement of Megaman and the cute GV girls/art.
>there are people who play gunvolt
>there are people who actually like gunvolt
What is this bullshit
>X Zero looks timeless
lmao dude
r8
DENENENE
DENENENE
DENENENE
DENENENE
RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRR
Just because Zonda is a cute loli with sympathetic backstory doesn't absolve her of the fact that she created a cult with an endgoal of human genocide.
A lot of people mistook the original design for a female too.
>MMV that low
shit taste
Wait, why do people suddenly dislike Gunvolt? I mean, I don't like Gunvolt myself. But that's mainly due to the game pushing you towards a specific playstyle (move fast through stages and finish them quickly) while having game mechanics which work directly against that (tag enemies and then slowly taze them while avoiding damage). It makes getting the best ranks on stages not fun, because you ended up playing the game the way it really didn't seem designed to do. Or, more reasonably, you just bought the one gun part where the bullets actually did damage and ignored how the whole game normally worked.
But everybody said I was stupid when I brought that up. Why are people disliking Gunvolt these days?
Probably just fandom rivalries and people tired of Gunvolt discussions in Mega Man threads lashing out.
That was more on her brother. She was repeating everything he said, and her death dialogue was bemoaning how she let him down. In either case, story was retarded. Thank you Inti for having me kill a 10 year old girl. Can I please get a new Megaman Legends game now?
Fandom rivalry. Also, new game coming out for them, when all we got on the horizon is a mobage.
To be fair we just got MM11 and will likely be getting 12.
Well, you're in a Mega Man thread, and Mega Man fans tend to have more common sense and are better able to recognize such shit gameplay for what it is, so there are more people here who dislike the game.
Early on, you were in Gunvolt threads, and as we all know Gunvolt fans are retarded, defending their terrible game simply because it has "mai waifu" in it.
>X3, X5, X8 higher than X4
>X not in the stop
SHIT
No, X Zero looks way more masculine
I guess. Back then, there were zero Mega Man games (outside mobile shit) so I could see the MM fans latching onto Gunvolt for dear life. Especially with Mighty No.9 being a recent release. These days we've seen the full re-release of the classic series, the X series, and MM11, so there's plenty of focus on new Mega Man games now.
>MMZ zero is not available as alt in fighting games
Why does Capcom hates that design? He only appears like in 3 non zero games
That would require:
>Inafune being a good writer
>Inafune caring about X at all
>Inafune not using the Zero series to make Zero the star child he wanted him to be since X-fucking-1.
I do like the approach tho. Reveal Cyber Elf X's identity at the end of Z1, then have the series progress like normal.
>3
I can only think of CvS, what are the others?
I'm pretty sure a number of people, including myself, felt the same way about Zero's original look.
Gee maybe it's because they have wildly different proportions, expressions, and moves.
Not really. It was always weird to me that the Zero Series was animated by a guy who draws Ecchi for a living, so it made the art style change look worse. If anything, the way X and co got streamlined in X8 was perfect.
Also am not a fan of how much more pronounced the "diaper" looks on Zero and ZX designs.
>Femzero
moar
>It was always weird to me that the Zero Series was animated by a guy who draws Ecchi for a living
You sound like you're very young or very new to Japanese video games. Look up the artist for MML soometime while you're at it.
>RiCO gets fanart inmediately after her reveal
>still no fanart of pic related
why
Would Zero have been more or less popular as a girl?
Okay but you don't get much because I don't want to image dump.
>inafune
>writer
As long as the game is good it wouldn't matter
Yes, we know.
>a guy who draws Ecchi for a living
There's a lot of Japanese artists who got their start doing this,
There's that one guy who really hates Inti Creates and posts in nearly every MM thread.
Aile's like a zillion times more popular than Vent if that's any indication.
>defending their terrible game simply because it has "mai waifu" in it.
I defend it because it's a good game and /pol/ - the character is fun to play as.
CHOOSE YOUR FIGHTER
>iragination
That is a name I haven't hear in a while.
Mega Man Zero was never really the face of the franchise. For one, you had both MMX and MMBN running at the same time that MMZ was being released. For two, it doesn't star "Mega Man" and people just somewhat familiar with the series are going to expect a blue robot gun boy, not the red edge swordsman. Also, MMX has been seeing re-releases and even a new (mobile) game so that version of Zero is currently more visible, and being whored out by Capcom.
Onimusha Blade Warriors had him (and I think MegaMan.EXE) as bonus characters. Capcom vs SNK, as you mentioned, I think had him as well. I honestly didn't remember any other games where MMZ Zero showed up outside his series.
At the time MMX was made? Objectively speaking, no. If they were introduced today, or around the DS era? Absolutely. Midnight Bliss Zero is a really good design despite being fem-Zero's head stuck on Ciel's outfit, it's very expressive for some reason.
Dynamo Man so I can make everyone shit their pants with anger
Too bad GV isn't the protagonist of iX. Then maybe half of these bosses, or at least Rebellio, might be spared.
That's because they're both really boring but Aile has the plus where she's a girl and romantically invested in Giro. The real issue would be people preferring Ashe when ZXA is pretty much written just for Grey.
*gasp*
I DON'T WANNA BE
/pol/ has always been known for shit taste, I suppose this proves it
Guts Man
youtube.com
Onimusha Blade Warriors IIRC.
Not sure about the last one.
They were in the wrong game at the wrong time in an extremely brief appearance. If it makes you feel better they show up in a Teppen card.
You mean SNK vs. Capcom. There's actually a difference.
Right, thanks.
>MMZ Zero was only in a crossover fighting game not made by Capcom
huh
Yeah, I just turn off the story when I play him. The cringeshit of him talking about how he's God's messenger after a kill or saying mercy is for the weak when offered it by one of the nicer adepts is too much.
They're still somewhat active.
>The real issue would be people preferring Ashe
They don't?
The only one with shit taste is you. GV isn't that fun to play as, but Copen is.
It's better than the huhahu green tits zero, the new zero even has better luck with the girls
Not really.
Crash Man
youtube.com
>Aile romantically invested in Giro
What.
MMZX was more focused on the main character running around and dealing with a fucked up situation, so there was less emphasis on the characters themselves. Plus, to save themselves time in the story department, plot tended to just revolve around their backstory, which was the same for both characters. So not much development in their characters during the game. Or at all, really.
I'm sure they do, she's just kind of completely pointless if you ask me. They really wanted to do the dual protagonists thing again and include Vent/Aile somehow so I guess they threw her in.
Would people even be attracted to reploids?
I'm still in shock over seeing X with hair
People are attracted to disgusting plastic sex-dolls, I'm sure that a perfect emulation of a human would do fine.
Sorry, I only played the game a few times in the arcade. I wasn't even sure which title it was, just that it was one of those crossover games between game franchises.
Megaman Zero has at least 2 canonical Reploid + Human relationships.
Niege + Craft and Old Man Andrew's backstory.
Considering that they merged into one race and humans bred themselves out of existence, yes.
this, everyone irl loves 2B so reploids aren't out of the question
Naked!
Never realized that Berkana has nicer boobs than Aile.
Omega did nothing wrong.
wait who is the reploid thats holding X? I've never seen that one
Berkana in XDive when? She never got to complete her dream of shagging X.
They're from the MMX manga I think.
The female villain from Command Mission is back so it's not entirely out of the question.
lol if she was in love with Zero she would be guaranteed death
Reminder that the "equality" in ZX is total bullshit. It's literally just reploids being confined to weak bodies and executed when their age surpasses the human lifespan, while also being branded with pink triangles like second class citizens to distinguish them from human cyborgs.
How can Alia be a perfect emulation of a human when she's superior to human girls?
Which is why she went for X instead. At least with him, she had a shot to survive.
And Thomas knows its all a sham, so while he doesn't agree with Albert's methods, he does agree that it's time to nuke the whole world and start over because everything's too fucked-up at this point.
Given what Vent, Aile, and Ashe could put up with, it might be less reploids being confined and more humans being augmented. Also, restrictions on things like arm busters or energy blades.
Ever used the robot excuse to get out of something?
But what if Roll was a reploid too?
Humans have had to put up with a finite lifespan for their whole existence. Reploids never had to. Pretty clear who got the shitty end of the deal here.
Don't forget that it's illegal for any Reploid to be immortal, as Prairie knows very well and thus remains in her airship where nobody can catch her.
>there's no Cossack analog to X and Zero in the X series
It's probably for the best, ultimately. Cossack didn't seem as interested as Light and Wily in SCIENCE WARS.
Though EXE Cossack was pretty cool for making Bass.EXE, and he still loved him even after he was forced to betray him. Too bad that whole plot got dropped with EXE4.
>Despite making up only 13% of the population Reploids commit 50% of all murders
What did Capcom mean by this?
Pick Zero and go slice some niggers
I mean Over-1 kind of is, as he's apparently made by Light and Cossack teaming up.
But he was mass produced for that non canon thing.
What if Colonel was a biometal?
I can already hear the fake british accent from my monitor
Today i'll teach you how to fix the X series' plot
>Don't kill Zero in X1 but kill Vile
>secondary baddies (like Doppler or Gate) are now the main baddies of their games and Sigma doesn't appear until X5
>Use Xtreme 2 as a chance for sympathizing with Iris
>Justify the Repliforce's acts
>Zero stays dead in X5, as well as Sigma
>X starts plans for Elysium put still remembers Zero
>Expand upon Alia and Gate's stories in X6

IIIIII'M. LOOKING FOR PASSIONATE LOVE.
>this is the most I'll see of Berkana and her Maverick witch titties outside of her character art for XTreme 2
Life's unfair.
I wish Capcom would try again. There are like 2 sections in the game that aren't a clusterfuck that proves a 3D Mega Man X game can work and it would be fun as shit.
I never liked Gunvolt for its godawful character designs, lackluster music and level design.
It's nowhere near on the insanely high standards set by the Zero series. If y'all enjoy it that's cool, but I'm never playing Gunvolt again.
The megaman zero zero model is garbage. When you fought omega in 3, weil saying 'this is zeros original body' felt like a slap in the face because it wasn't, they should've brought back the actual original body for it and you'd be like 'holy shit i was living a lie'
Here we go again...
>Mega Man X Dive removed the player cap and increased the time window
God bless you, you fucking Taiwanese shitheads.
Who else is hyped? I have my SF30 paired up and ready for this shit.
Pretty sure one of those guidebooks mentioned that Zero converted his original body to that skinny form long before Weil stole it and made it Omega.
>its godawful character designs
Huh? The boss designs are the highlight of that series.
Somebody needs to tell Gunvolt's designer that black eyes aren't cool.
The art books mention that in the world of Mega Man Zero, Zero and X always looked like that. It's an art style change that applies retroactively.
No, they came up with an "art style" explanation. In the Zero series, that's how Zero has ALWAYS looked.
Which kind of implies each sub-series is secretly a separate universe following a similar timeline.
Nah, I'm going to disagree with you on several points. Zero being killed in X1 and being re-assembled in X2 was pretty cool. Him being a second available character in X4 was great, and easily made that one of the best games in the X series as a result. Having a similar think in X5 or X6 would have been far less impressive, given that those games were more disappointing than X4 was (even without Zero). Writing Zero out of the series after X5, with the retconned reason of X putting him into stasis from the MMZ series, would've been nice to see. I mean, it would've been shit for the MMX series since X/Axl only games would've been disappointing, but from a story standpoint it would've been great.
Mavericks should've just been malfunctioning, imperfect robots like they were with the X1 game. Later installments created a Zero Virus/Sigma Virus that infected mavericks and turned them crazy. That's stupid. Having them be imperfect copies people people were just mass-producing them without quality control (really, without moral error-checking) made much more sense and gave them an interesting place in the series. It also meant labeling the Repliforce as Mavericks had much more impact: it was claiming that they were "imperfect" and "bugged" for wanting independence.
As for Sigma, perhaps kill him off for a few games (MMX2 certainly had a villain group who wanted the Zero parts) and then start bringing him back, as opposed to showing up every game. Villains did him up and rebuild him as the guy who stood up to X originally. Perhaps have his whole revival tied to questions about his identity. Was Sigma originally like Colonel, just a renegade who was labeled Maverick to get rid of him? Was he actually Maverick? Was he sane, and it's just the revivals that kept corrupting his programming and turning him into an insane Maverick? I'd be inclined to drop the whole Zero/Sigma Virus if at all possible, although I think it ties too much into MMX and MMZ.
>Which kind of implies each sub-series is secretly a separate universe following a similar timeline.
Or that each series has different people doing the artwork.
There's a gag in Zero's ending for Marvel vs Capcom 3 where the Silver Surfer tries to drop Zero back in his own universe, but accidentally stops in the Megaman Zero universe instead of the Megaman X one..
They're hot. I only wish the MC looked as aesthetic.
So, here's a question then. If X/Axl would have been stale, what if someone like say... Dynamo took Zero's place?
Are you trying to pick a fight?
GV's bosses are stale because they're always sexy teenagers in skintight armor with black eyes. Megaman has much greater variance in bosses.
How's this?
Not always.
What a fucking cunt that thing is in MGB.
>Which kind of implies each sub-series is secretly a separate universe following a similar timeline.
I don't remember the source but I've read that's exactly the case
Probably. The biggest problem with X/Axl is that they are just two gun characters, one with a slightly different gun, and so you're just creating two slightly different projectiles for each boss to hand out. With Zero you had something different; close-range combat with the saber and special weapons. So taking Zero out would pretty vastly change what you could do in those games.
If Dynamo was different enough to offer another option than "new gun weapon with an energy meter" then he'd probably fill the same roll that Zero did in the later MMX games. Plus, it would be nice to see them actually use some of those Command Mission characters somewhere else, as much as I didn't like Command Mission.
The best way to handle Zero is to break him, but keep him alive. He's not dead, but he's gone into a robo-coma until he can be repaired. Unfortunately, no one knows how to actually do that, so he's just in stasis forever. As long as he's not dead, it's fine. The main issue with Zero is that he "dies" THREE FUCKING TIMES IN THE ENTIRE GODDAMN FRANCHISE.
I've noticed a trend where people call X4 bad or trash. I really don't understand why. It's the last game in the series where it felt like Capcom truly tried in terms of production values and just making an overall fun game. The stages were shorter than X3, but they were refined so that they didn't drag out. The game was given replayability in the form of making Zero playable, in a gameplay mode so fucking fun, it warranted a spin off series and became a staple to the X franchise afterwards. This is debatable, but the conflict was given a much bigger focus so that you know what you're fighting for (or do you?) instead of just bearing 8 Ribot Masters and Sigma again. Everyone had a purpose, whether they believed in their cause, they felt betrayed, or they just wanted to follow their commander out of loyalty. X and Zero are dispatched, and while the game does do a lousy job, they are conflicted about what's happening and why they're doing what they do nowadays. They're no longer hunting Mavericks, they're hunting what people fear. I think a remake would help flesh that portion out a lot more.
Anywho, X4 is one of my favorite games mainly because I can feel the passion and love behind it. X5-X8, while on various degrees of fun, just felt like the mandatory yearly X game they needed to push out.
Don't talk to me or my son ever again
I was thinking the original "Zero dies" from MMX1, then a more critical system damage in MMX5 like damaging a core component that removes him from the rest of the series. I mean, he did get cut in half and then have a hole blown in his chest. It would make sense if that ended up damaging something important, and since by then it was revealed he was a Wilybot and not just a reploid, replacing the part wasn't just a simple process.
Somebody pointed out that MMX4 is missing a lot of the verticality that the SNES games had. Many SNES games had open stages, or stages where you would move forward then up then back another way. Most MMX4 stages tended to be more straight paths in one direction. MMX4 also had less platforms, perhaps due to its change in art style: MMX1 platforms tend to be flat while MMX4 platforms tend to have a 3D attempt at them, which probably made jumping up to one from below look strange or give a false sense of where the edge actually was.
However, I think it's mostly just SNES vs PS1 consolewars at this point. The first MMX Legacy Collection has MMX1-4 which are the good ones anyways, so you can just buy that half and not worry about the rest.
Copen looks aesthetic as fuck, some people hate how much of a edgelord he is but i find him very amusing to watch and even after his sister turned out to be an adept he still wants to kill them all, Gunvolt is pretty much a cuter version kamen rider amazons
>X3
>One of the good ones
Having gotten into the X series recently, it feels like a noticeable downgrade from X1 and 2.
X3 was outsourced
Objectively bad game.
It definitely is, it came out when the PS1 and Saturn were already on the market so Capcom probably rushed it out to use the assets one last time. I still like it better than the 32-bit games though, dashing and jumping never felt as smooth in these games as they were in the SNES.
We're probably getting edgy weaponized GV next game anyways.
Aqua man has better voice acting than all of the characters
The difference between X1 and X5 is that the initial plotline of X6 only works if he's missing and presumed dead. The plotline of X2 doesn't require for Zero to be presumed dead.
Aile is also supposed to be the grandaughter of Serpent or some shit, whereas Vent lost his parents at the amusement park.
But the plotline of X2 is that Zero's body parts are missing, are being hunted down by the enemy, and will be build to be used against X as a weapon. Or be rebuild into Zero if X collects them all. That kind of requires Zero to have been destroyed and the body parts to have been missing before the start of MMX2.
As long as he's alive, even if he's in pieces, it's fine. He's a robot. I'm sure Wily built him with some sort of failsafe for that sort of thing. I mean, he's mechanical brain is completely intact after he's revived, memories and all. That technically means he was never truly dead.
Vent and Aile have the same backstory, being "chosen ones" who can use the biometals to become Mega Man. Both of them lost their parents at the amusement park, killed by reploids that ignored Vent/Aile because that's how Serpent figures out who's a Mega Man and who isn't. Ashe was the one who turned out to be a granddaughter of Albert in the MMZXA game, with Grey being an intentional clone. Grey was intended on becoming a Mega Man (even using Model A, if I recall correctly) while Ashe was the unexpected factor who ended up grabbing and using the biometal first.
At least, that's what I remember from the games. It has been awhile since I last played either one. Holy fuck, 12 years since Advent.
>secondary baddies (like Doppler or Gate) are now the main baddies of their games and Sigma doesn't appear until X5
No, check this out - move Gate up as a villain to be orchestrating the events of X4-X6.. Have him use Sigma as a decoy villain, who is killed off at the midway point in X4. Gate is the one who orchestrates the Repliforce drama.
I specifically remember Aile having different dialogue with Serpent than Vent.
Ah, okay. I see what you mean. It's assumed that Zero was completely destroyed in MMX6 and won't be coming back, while it was clear that he could still be put back together and rebuild in MMX2.
Yeah. Having X and the audience believe that Zero's "dead" twice is stupid. It only really needs to happen once. So for X2, he should just be alive but in pieces and in a coma, while in X6 he should be presumed dead.
Their dialogue was different, at more than just the Serpent fight. Vent goes into more detail about dealing with his parents' death at the amusement park, for example. But I thought that both of them mentioned it, and that it was in both of their backstory. If I remember correctly, Vent got more into his dead parents while Aile got more into dead Giro.
All the Mega Men are supposedly related (confirmed in MMZXA) so Serpent's comments about having same blood, or whatever, seemed to be more a general comment about being able to change into one of the Mega Man, as opposed to Serpent specifically saying that he was Aile's grandfather. I might be wrong there because, again, last time I played was probably a decade ago. But I don't recall any sort of direct bloodline stated between Serpent and Aile.
I can roll with this
No. Gate is just out to prove his intellectual superiority. Sigma is actually trying to achieve a greater goal. No matter how you look at it, Sigma is the greater villain than Gate is, whose motivations are more selfish and petty.
I'm trying to recall clearly, but wasn't it teased that Aile might have been descended from Dr. Weil?
In any case, Advent pretty much disregarded the first ZX's events completely.
MMX was so shonen that I'm actually fine with the whole "Zero is dead" showing up more than once. Everything was so amazingly hammy and stupid anyways. I certainly wouldn't want to change the events of MMX1, where Zero getting killed establishes strong character motivations for X right from the start.
It was teased that "his blood" ran in Aile's veins. At the time of ZX this seemed to imply Weil. In reality, it was probably referring to Albert, though ZX Advent doesn't really cover the context anyway beyond the "Albert donated his blood to all Mega Men" thing.
this is good
So, what's the weakness chain?
MMZXA establishes that Albert has been running around and sticking his dick into people to create "Mega Men" who can use the biometals. So Aile, and all the other main characters, are descended from Albert (or cloned, for the reploids) as a result. Yes, that doesn't make much sense if you think about it too thoroughly, but welcome to Advent.
There were a ton of theories about character relationships between the ZX release and the ZXA release, and I'm sure that Vent/Aile/Serpent being related to Weil was one of them, but I don't recall them ever having any basis in the actual game. I guess you might consider it canon now if Albert has any relation to Weil, but I don't think that Weil was every actually mentioned in the ZX games - just the Ouroboros remains and Ceil/Prairie.
I actually have this comic, and could look it up if you want. I think it was Tail Spin -> Rose Hammer -> Kunckle -> Shadow -> Silver -> Blaze and then the last three in some order.
Again, Advent essentially disregarded the first game's plot. It didn't even so much as mention Serpent or what he did prior, and the excuse as to why the Biometals are in enemy hands is that Vent/Aile fucked up somehow and they were stolen.
Was the same writer in charge of both games? Because it really feels like Advent wasn't supposed to be a sequel to ZX but rather an alternate version of it.
Well, look it up, chum!
>Sigma is actually trying to achieve a greater goal.
Sigma died in X1 and since then a fucking virus wireframe larping as Sigma decided to be the final villain in every game. Sigma Virus's goals are retarded.
One of two directors swapped out between ZX and ZXA, and the artist was also the writer for both games but a second writer got tagged in for ZXA.
And "Baww no one appreciates muh genius" is a worthy successor? Gate is only good for one game. X kills his ass and that's the end.
Literally anyone is better than Sigma after X1. Literally ANYONE. Fucking Bit and Byte could come back as the villains and be a step up.
whatever happened to that e3 reveal a few months ago that capcom had?
>All the Mega Men are supposedly related (confirmed in MMZXA) so Serpent's comments about having same blood, or whatever, seemed to be more a general comment about being able to change into one of the Mega Man
No, it's literal. Albert put his blood/DNA in people he inspected at Legion and deemed worthy candidates. That's the literal key to being able to activate biometal.
Ciel kind of shat the bed with her models, now that I about it. She copied Model W so thoroughly that Albert's biometric verification got ported over even though there was absolutely no need for it.
Dust Man
>Bit and Byte could come back as the villains
I thought only one of them was a villain wait I'm somehow confusing them with Midi and Techno aren't I.
To be honest with how Ciel basically doesn't get mentioned at all in ZXA, it felt like the writers silently retconned the Biometals as existing due to Albert.
>Holy fuck, 12 years since Advent.
Jesus
You're kinda dumb considering MvC3 Zero has MMZ Zero's moveset but only in the body of MMX Zero
Tails Man was the first fight, giving Tail Wind.
Vector Man was next, with the Acoustic Blaster. Although he was just taken down with the standard buster.
Charmy Man was next, weak to Acoustic Blaster. He gave the Rapid Sting.
Espio Man went down next, to just buster attacks. He gave the Chroma Camo, which makes him transparent to attacks.
Shadow Man came next, hit by a variety of moves (including Tail Wind), and gave the Chaos Cannon.
Silver Man and Blaze Woman were next, both taken out by buster attacks. They gave Psycho Burst and Fire Tornado, respectively.
Rose Woman went down with Fire Tornado, gave Piko Hammer.
Knuckles Man got smashed by Piko Hammer, gave Sharp Knuckle.
>Vent/Aile fucked up somehow and they were stolen.
They turned them over to the Guardians' lab to be analyzed and then Prometheus and Pandora raided the place. At least that's what I remember.
Serpent isn't mentioned because there's no need to. He was just another player in the game who got farther at using Model W than the rest. Ultimately he was a nobody.
It would've been stupid, X would never turn bad, his programming wouldn't allow it.
What Advent does disregard is some big points set up in ZX. The dialogue was exclusive to one of the character routes, but Prometheus and Pandora pretty much say Model W is conscious and pulling the strings, with them being its/Weil's agents.
Is there an in lore explanation for x not being able to be evil or is that just a meme
To be fair thats what they also say in ZX. People forget that P&P in ZX were clearly not just working for Serpent.
The in-lore explanation is just that X is a good person who had a fuckload of time devoted to teaching him right from wrong. If he wanted to turn evil he could.
>creates thinking and feeiling robot
>attaches plasma gun to his arms just in case
I though Light was a pacifist?
Oh, and Rouge gets robotized, gets buster'd, and gives up Black Wave as a weapon. This was a fun crossover.
Mostly just the 100 years of morality checks to try to ensure he wouldn't destroy the world. But the series dabbled with the idea of exhaustion and losing his way from the sheer mental stress and toils he had to undergo in the Maverick Wars. X6 just happened to turn the post-apocalypse into X gaining a second wind at the same time the game's creation prevented the real X from being the villain of the Zero series.
Then X7 made X into a whiny fucker sitting on the couch bitching about violence.
Then X should've been the big bad
Prairie doesn't get mentioned, either, and she's heavily implied to be Alouette who had her body rebuilt and is continuing Ciel's work. You'd think that would factor into something, but not a mention.
Serpent was running one of the biggest sources of energy in the world. You'd think with his death and his company's demise, there'd be some mention of him in passing.
As to Vent/Aile, someone controlling two Biometals at once should have easily been able to rebuff P&P. Instead, they jobbed and lost all those Biometals.
Remember the first capsule in X1? Light clearly knows from experience that even if X chooses a life of peace, that's likely not happening.
I can't find it but before he was released into the wild in MMX he was in a caplule for about 1000 years or so and DR light made him go through tons of checks and stuff so that in any scenario he will always do good aka protect humans.
Comparing the scripts, it seems like the routes were setting up different story lines, with ZXA choosing to go with Aile's over Vent's.
>As to Vent/Aile, someone controlling two Biometals at once should have easily been able to rebuff P&P. Instead, they jobbed and lost all those Biometals.
You're assuming Vent/Aile was present when P&P stole the biometals.
It's all in the opening demo of X1. You can't miss it.
Why wouldn't they be? They've been using them.
I WILL MAKE YOU PROUD, BIG BRO
PEOPLE WILL BUY MY GAME AND I'M GONNA BECOME MAINSTREAM LIKE YOU ARE
THIS I PROMISE
THE NEXT GAME IS THE BIG ONE
THIS TIME FOR SURE
R-RIGHT?
Black eyes are patrician.
>demo
what demo
What the fuck? UMvC3 Zero pulls all his moves from the X games. Nothing from fucking Zero.
COPEn
I get it
>Why wouldn't they be? They've been using them.
Did you miss the part about them being given to the Guardians' lab to be analyzed?
GV is not a Zero wannabe he is a teenager who had to carry the weight that is usually for Zero, soon they will diverge Zero could take the centuries of war and just became more jaded and serious, GV will snap and lash out against the world at any moment like Dresna predicted… he only question is who will be the being who will pour the last drop on that glass of water
that's no demo.
Which is on that airship of theirs, which is also where they work and live? Any intruder breaks into there and they'll no doubt come running expecting to fight.
Too many dead waifus, too much tragedy and angst. Also, Copen is fun, but he's probably the worst protag to pick for this type of game unless he undergoes some serious character development.
And how.
I couldn't get into Gunvolt. The game's score system and its actual combat are at odds with each other. Even if they weren't, I don't find the whole tagging system to be intuitive or fun. Playing as Zero in the X and Zero series was addicting because you can blaze through mobs going HU-HA-HU without ever really breaking the pace of the game.
>only question is who will be the being who will pour the last drop on that glass of water
Random adept thug who kills Quinn.
Bonus points if the adept expresses happiness over Sumeragi and the order they imposed being history, allowing adepts like him to do as they please.
It annoys me how much ZX Advent just discarded the plot of ZX. The whole idea of ZX was that the Model W was so dangerous it needed to be locked behind a door Ceil created and even manufactured the biometals to seal. Serpent was a huge deal because he was manipulating mavericks all over the city to take control and weed out any potential Mega Men. The Guardians were following the whole situation and tracking down the biometals to keep them out of the wrong hands.
And then Advent comes along. There's suddenly eight Model W's just lying around all over the place, so many that they could outright destroy one and not even be set back. The Guardians don't even bother showing up to get the four biometals they lost, even when they know where they are. And it turns out that Serpent was a small time nobody, what with THREE super influential people who basically run the whole planet being the ones pulling all the strings behind the curtain. So, you know, all those people being killed in maverick attacks were just some local problem and nobody actually cares about these six unique biometals that Ceil made. Serpent would've been much smarter to ignore the fucking door and just dig up a different, unsealed Model W from the next town over.
Vent/Aile took over Giro's company and was running it, so there's plenty of time that they might not be hanging around for P&P to break in and steal them. That's to say nothing about how they still wouldn't spend 24/7 on the airship and there'd be plenty of times for P&P to attack when Vent/Aile are not immediately available. And they wouldn't be forewarned with the first attack.
Binding the dash to the shoulder button back when I was a kid playing X4 was a fucking game changer.
This. This game likes to toy with my protective instincts.
In hindsight Sigma doomed all the Next Generation Reploids to be scrapped by imprinting his data into all of them, which probably explains why Zero and ZX have none around.
My money is on Coppen doing something autistic even by his standards… like killing his sister (Julie goes down a 4rth time yay)
>that part in MMZ3 where you had to stop the missile from bombing the city of innocent people
>despite you beating the boss, the missile still hits the city
>cut-scene shows the damage, thousands died
>found out this wasn't a bad ending, or a failed side mission. This is exactly the way the game plays out
It quite shocked me as a kiddo. In hindsight, the plot of MMZ has massive balls for what it is.
He apparently killed Rebellio when he was trying to give him info on Sumeragi. That's pretty damn autistic.
There's a reason why a lot of people used to joke that Casshern Sins is pretty much MMZ in spirit. Behind all the young-looking designs, the Jap versions had large blood sprays and explicit mentions of killing everywhere instead of "destroy" or "retire", and so forth. Even ZX, which had a villain literally exploiting people's souls for feeding a Model W as they died in terror, wasn't as dark as the Zero series got. You can partly thank Weil for that.
I wish they would have had balls to go with the original story of MMZ1 and have X go full tyrant instead of just making Copy-X a thing.
Looks like windows 10-chan
>let's send Shadow Man to deal with the problem
>wait, your Shadow Man or my Shadow Man?
>...both!
This comic was too good for this world.
Sonic Team
It was.
It made me suffer as a child, I had to pretend to my parents it was a good game bc it was my birthday present, but deep down I know the truth, it sucked some serious ass. fuck axl, fuck the dub and fuck pussy asf pacifist X
i'd sooner just want like, a Lost Planet-style system for a 3D X game or something with some platforming emphasis at this rate, than ever have auto-lock-on being necessary for 3D play again.
Thanks. It's a shame we never got a game based off it. Or at least an OST.
>Mega Man comic run
>Mega Man/Sonic crossover
>then Penders starts causing trouble again
>second crossover is absolute horseshit
>Mega Man comic gets the plug pulled within a month or so, didn't even trade paperback the last set of comics released
>Sonic Boom comic dies right around the same time
>Sonic dies shortly afterwards
Nigga, you are focusing strictly on the gunplay. A Lost Planet styled X game would fucking suck and it might as well just be Legends. X gameplay is great because of how fast paced it is.
The X games kind of turned into action games over platformers after a certain point already. Sure, you had a lot of traversal, but between numerous maneuvering options and wall clinging/jumping, most platforming that wasn't optional or X6 became kind of trivialized after a point.
Games used to have gameplay demos instead of "Openings" user. A holdover from the arcades.
At what point did I bring up platforming?
>ywn get a slice of life/drama MMX series with nice animation and voice acting
There's a first feel for everything I suppose
there's nothing Zero 3 did better than the other games in it's series, in fact Zero 3 is painfuly mediocore. Go kill yourself for that cancerous chart please
>there's nothing Zero 3 did better than the other games in it's series
It had the best looking boss 8 pack.
cool but the skirt is too much
Better side weapons.
>think buster only runs are a gimmick
>go through zx using the buster out of laziness
>"that went better than i expected. i'll try another mm game with only the buster and see how it goes"
>go through x1 buster only
>fun as shit except for wolf sigma, who is a chore at best
Now I see why people love buster only runs so much. Consider me a member of the buster only cult.
The only one that's different is the Recoil Rod, which is only slightly better than the Chain Rod. I'm still part of the Triple Rod Master Race, myself.
now does buster-only include charge shots or only pellets for your runs
also dashing in X1-3 doubles buster shot damage
Best side weapons[chain rod was nut], QOL changes, climax of series story arc, soundtrack on par with 2's, above-average length with lots of varied stages and surprises. Zero 3 is by most measures the biggest and best in the series.
I like 2 more for the atmosphere and story, but 3 is easily the more satisfying game
>best level design
>best boss design
>best story along with 4
>best side weapon
>best cyber elf and chip system
>best ost
>even has a cool secret boss fight with phantom
You retard.
Buster only is basically a challenge run. Once you get the game down and the proper sub-weapons make fights easy, then just continuing to play the same way is boring. Buster only requires you to be good enough at the fight to dodge all the enemies attacks, frequently quite a lot, while slowly being able to chip them down. It's basically like trying every stage as the start stage, plus extra challenge in the final stages.
Pellets and charge shots. In some games (namely classic with MM4 and later) relying on pellets only is incredibly slow, only something you'd do if you really want a challenge. Buster only generally means just not using any of the boss weapons, outside when they are required for breaking obstructions.
Honestly growing up I sucked at using boss weapons, so I ended up going buster-only unintentionally for most of my playthroughs as a kid before growing into weapon usage. Except for select games where boss weapons are so useless/gimmicky that it's just more efficient to stick to buster.

a copy pasted boss fight
But I understand why subhumans such as yourself like Zero 3 so much, it's mind numbingly easy, a game made for retards, and those same retards now defend it on the internet despite it being the black sheep of the Zero series
My life needs more Nana
This looks so bad.
HOO HA HUOOH
Buster Only isn't that fucking difficult. You get a reliable weapon with unlimited ammo that works on everyone. You want a challenge?
Weapon Only runs. Absolutely no buster usage after your first boss kill. You can't use EX Tanks either.
>main game line has humanity nearly wiped out several times, robots given intelligence but critical flaws which turn them into murder machines, humans and robots eventually losing their identities and becoming the same, and the last groups of pure humanity decided to implement systems which would routinely eradicate all the new life forms which existed after they had fully passed away

Will you guys be playing this game?
Right, Red Berkana, that's what I said.
Marty, X's love interest from the manga, she's a pirate mermaid.
MMZ4 will always have a special place in my heart for the last boss fight. Falling Down > Cannonball. I really wish we'd gotten the full voice over though. Ciel screaming for Zero to get out of there really sells the moment. youtube.com
A truly bittersweet conclusion to the Zero series and a truly fitting one for Zero at that, absolute kino.
I really like how the illustrator put literally zero effort into making her look like literally any other Reploid in the entire goddamn series.
That seems to be a common thing for ocs in adaptations, compare the sega characters to the ocs in Archies Sonic for example.
>why yes, i play mega man 2 with turbo buttons, how did you tell?
She looks like a Saint Seiya character, but like in space or some shit
Pretty darn based, though I'd say Zero 1 has the best level design as well.
Zero 1 is the best Zero game overall and I'll always stand by that statement
Forcing you grind his weapons to get full use of them is a pretty ass move, though.
I'm glad that MMZ3 ditched that, grinding was such a chore.
Also the Triple Rod is kinda lame.
Oh yeah, that's true. I don't blame people for disliking 1 and 2 over that
Oh yeah, that's true. I don't blame people for disliking 1 and 2 over that
The shield is the lame weapon, triple rod is based because it's omnidirectional and more importantly it lets you bounce off of shit. Sweet charge attack animation too
Omnidirectional, yet it does piss-poor damage and it has huge recovery leaving you wide open making it annoying to use. The charge attack is even worse. Bouncing off shit is only useful in certain very specific situations. Its overall lack of power and excessively high recovery can't be made up for.
It didn't seem that weak last time I played, probably no good against bosses but good enough for normal enemies. Fair points though, I guess I just like the idea of it moreso than anything else kek

I hope something like the Doc Robot or Weapons Archive comes back in a future Mega Man game, it blew my mind fighting the MM2 robot masters in MM3 and the Weapons Archive in 10 had god-tier presentation.
As anatomically correct as their creators want them to be. Early ones probably didn't have genitals, but by ZX they probably all do since they can fuck humans.
We may never know since ZX3 never happened. They were clearly building up to showing what caused Legends.
It wasn't that they didn't have the balls, it was that Capcom ordered X6 so they had to make up something else since Zero wasn't dead anymore and X didn't have a reason to get bitter.
Imagine being this contrarian
>Let's just make you completely immobile for two seconds
Anyone has a priority list for combo attacks in MMZ?
Funny enough he was super overpowered in the game.
You forgot the "nari". This is important.
Fuck this shit. I'm switching to easy mode. This game has way too much bullshit to bother with.
This game is a walk in the park compared to Mega Man 5.
Zero has been top teir in every fighting game appearance. In fact Project X Zone 2 referenced it when Zero did his infamous lighting loop.
I can't believe sigma got away with false flagging everyone into a conflict via autism.
You're right. Repliforce was one of the only groups who went Maverick without actually being infected.
Its implied there was an apocalyptic event caused by mass conflict
>colorless
Now I know you didn't play this game at all. While the game is darker it had color, especially the first game no less.
I wanted more proto man kino, red shift wasn't enough
That's not how it felt to me. I went through X5 without any larger issues, while X6 is just constantly throwing bullshit my way - the six minibosses in Heatnix's stage, the ghost things in Wolfgang's, Nightmare Mother etc.
Fuck, I just realised you were talking about classic. Never mind then.
They should just stop trying to humanize Coppen and make him the sociopath that will create the monster that he so much feared, He is far beyond the point of being redeemable anyways
Megaman Zero has my favorite ending of any videogame ever! It wwas the perfect sendoff to Zero as a character, cried by none excepting a little girl and forgotten by history yet still leaving behind a legacy that dwarfs X and finally putting and end to the Robot and man wars like Willy and X wanted but on his own terms
>They should just stop trying to humanize Coppen and make him the sociopath that will create the monster that he so much feared, He is far beyond the point of being redeemable anyways
No, they're going to try to pull of a villain into hero thing, but do so very clumsily because it's Inti and they have a tragedy boner. It's already foreshadowed by Desna's future sight that Copen has the potential to be good if he drops his vengeance while Gunvolt is going to do some very bad things (which is why she offers mercy to Copen but goes all out on GV). Seeing as how previous games went, it's likely that he'll be a complete and unchanging genocidal douchebag until the very end of LA, where he gets hit by sudden bouts of clumsy character development and "realizes" his mistake, doing a complete 180. I think sparing some of his opponents in the boss rush near the end would be a more powerful message, but we ain't getting any of that (and the adepts from LA, outside of Rebellio, aren't anywhere near as tragic or depressing as the ones from GV1 and especially GV2, despite being forced into combat).
>Megaman Zero has my favorite ending of any videogame ever! Except for, I don't know, the model Z?
The models are entities made to think and act like the originals but not the originals
X soul for example was 100% gone in 3 yet there exists a model X
On the Inticreates Sadbonner thing yes, but I prefer sad than a complete piece of wood protagonist that all megaman games have, and when they don’t trip over their own feet and end up making a grimderp mess the Result is magnificent! MMZ and Dragon marked for death being the best examples
I actually like the Megaman archetype way more than GV. Sure, he can be kinda wooden, but it works. The only issue with him is that he's way too merciful and sympathetic to opponents who don't really deserve it (coughWeilcough). It's almost the opposite issue of GV, where the opponents are too sympathetic to the audience (especially if you know their backstories), to the point that you want to rescue them, but not sympathetic at all to the protagonist (there's too many tragic characters too, Inti needs to learn moderation). That's why Zero was the best protag, because he was kinda balanced between edge and heroism, even if, as he said, he never believed in justice and was only fighting for those he loved. Also, getting from "what am I fighting for" to that statement at the end of MMZ4 was a great character arc.
I think they peaked with tragedy in GunVolt 2. Like those backstories for Eden were fucked up. Tenjian and Zonda living on the streets with the other adept orphans after their orphanage closed down, and then nearly dying (and seeing all the other orphans die) when a human gave them food doused with rat poison. Then there's Gibril, whose first kill was her abusive father using the blood of her dead mother that he'd killed. Afterwards, she was forced to work as a hitman for various adept gangs, eventually learning to enjoy killing. And finally there's Asroc, whose dreams of becoming a baker were crushed when his family were burned at the stake by anti-adept fanatics. Most of these characters aren't even adults yet either when you meet and kill them.
Like what's the darkest that Megaman got with its character origin stories?
>Begin the Try
pretty based that X's voice actor did that song
youtube.com
>Alia: Ready, X?
>X: Sure!
>X:..................X gon give it to ya
Fuck waitin' for you to get it on your own
X gon' deliver to ya
Knock knock, open up the door, it's real
Wit the non-stop, pop pop and stainless steel
Go hard gettin busy wit it
But I got such a good heart that
I'll make a motherfucker wonder if he did it
Damn right and I'll do it again
'cause I am right so I gots to win
>Like what's the darkest that Megaman got with its character origin stories?
Battle Network could get pretty tragic with backstories, but never to that extent. Difference is though is that it usually has a happy ending.
In Legends, there's Roll and her parents.
Also, all the bosses in MMZ3 and 4 were good reploids before being enslaved, but you can argue that putting them down after what Weil did to them is a mercy.
Mmmm nnnng rrrdgh nooo...
What am I fight8ng FooooOOOOOoor?
>usually
Bass in particular keeps getting shit on by the universe though. Guy's just gonna keep subsisting off of bugfrags and viruses until the internet goes obsolete in favor of EM waves.
>Like what's the darkest that Megaman got with its character origin stories?
*Bass being built to destroy Mega Man and turning it into his lifelong obsession
*Duo being alone in space and doing nothing but destroy Evil Energy for no known reason
*King being built by Wily as another pawn, but starts to question why he's fighting for a human
The whole SNES/PS1 era of Classic was trying to ape MMX's narrative tone.
>Also, all the bosses in MMZ3 and 4 were good reploids before being enslaved
You sure? Because from what I remember, they all chose from the get-go to destroy the whole planet in Weil's name. It's really the Z1 and Z2 bosses that were morally-ambiguous, mostly only fighting Zero because he was getting in their way.
Fun fact! Iris and Aqua man have the same voice actor
>Astroman
>D Teir
user... we can't be friends anymore.
Not sure about Z4, but Z3 bosses were goodguys before Weil brainwashed them. The Judges were the ones in Neo-Arcadia pushing for more clemency and questioned X's ruthlessness. They were widely respected by both humans and reploids until Weil "awakened" them.
>until the internet goes obsolete in favor of EM waves.
I like to think he was able to evolve with the times and now just lives a life of seclusion.
And on the flipside, the Z4 bosses were total monsters from the get-go who gleefully anticipate wiping out anything and EVERYTHING that opposes Weil.
Except for Tech Kraken, who only joined up with Wile because he wanted to avenge his true boss, Phantom. Cocapetri in particular lost his job to Cyber Elves and just said "fuck the world" instead of adapting to use said Elves.
I wonder how a Megaman game would deal with this level of misery?
Kraken sure doesn't seem to mind wiping out Area Zero along the way, though.
>Like what's the darkest that Megaman got with its character origin stories?
Zero by a longshot
G.V.is general need a full meele character and Gibril would have filled that viod incredibly well.
I hoe she comes back from the death somehow
Oh yeah, no doubt. Dude doesn't give a shit about anything else other than killing Zero.
EN or JP? Because if EN that makes sense since X4 and 8's voice work were probably both entirely done within the same afternoon.
>G.V.is general need a full meele character
Just you FUCKING wait.
You'll see.
YOU'LL ALL SEE
>If Zero is destroyed when fighting Tech Kraken, he will reveal that he plans to slam the drill into the Earth, and claims he will be with Phantom soon
kraken was on a death mission
Inti is not Capcom and does not resurrect popular characters. I like Gerbil and really want a weaponized adept PC for once, but she's not coming back. If they didn't bring back Elise into the story (who topped their popularity polls back in the first game, would have an excuse for surviving her death, and would fulfill the role of GV's healslut) they aren't going to brink back Gerbil. Additionally, despite her fucked up background, she's one of the genuinely evil adepts that killed a shitton of innocents in game and enjoyed doing so. Not player character material. Finally, they'll likely give us a CQC character in the form of Blade.
>Inti is not Capcom and does not resurrect popular characters
However, they do listen to the fans to some extent, wich is the entire reason why they're dropping gunvolt for now, and focusing on Copen, it's due to very vocal fan demand.
But then again you have other Inti games where they didn't listen to a single lick of what the fans were asking from them to the point of letting the entire game die a horrible, shitty death exclusively out of being so stubborn, so...
No, Zero's death in X1 is the only meaningful one, keep that. Make the X-Hunters the main villains of X2, Sigma only appears until X3 (So Doppler can redeem himself by erasing the Sigma Virus, Doppler is not evil) Introduce Iris since X3 (the Repliforce helps the Maverick hunters after Doppler attacks their headquarters.) Kill Sigma for good in X3, but make him partially responsible for all the incoming shit in X4 and X5.
>But then again you have other Inti games where they didn't listen to a single lick of what the fans were asking from them to the point of letting the entire game die a horrible, shitty death exclusively out of being so stubborn, so...
I think all of us know that feel.
What's this about? designs? difficulty? fun battles?
>it's due to very vocal fan demand.
No, it's because they're having trouble making Gunvolt 3. I've heard there's both problems coming up with a scenario and innovating the gameplay.
For those unsatisfied with GV's gameplay, there's a good chance they're trying to upgrade him. Or introduce a new playable character, as Copen's introduction/gameplay was considered 2's innovation.
*AHEM*
>No, it's because they're having trouble making Gunvolt 3.
It's both.
Browse any community online and everyone sucks Copen's cock gameplay wise, it's essentially universal, his gameplay was the show stealer of GV2.
youtube.com
I'd go as far as to say the basic movement and pacing of Copen is some of the most fun i've had in a MM game in general (yes, even including Zero in some ways).
>For those unsatisfied with GV's gameplay, there's a good chance they're trying to upgrade him.
Perhaps.
But the more entertaining answer is that he's coming back as Blade, and this time he's going to become a nu-Zero
Nigga you really think that's gonna convince him?
One of the most unfinished, controversial Inti's games that has been mutilated systematically by the team?
'the fuck outta here.
>When the villain is /pol/
>But the "hero" is also /pol/
tfw a movie from 2005 has better design than a today's anime series
The big issue with Copen is his unlikability. It's something that even Inti has acknowledged is kind of a problem.
he wanted the design, so he got it
Also; if we're talking personality, i still find Copen to be more interesting as a character than GV.
GV is the classic hero type and there's some depth going on with him and his romantic life with added tragedy etc.
But Copen isn't just an antihero, he's straight up a /pol/tard.
And that's incredibly amusing, and interesting, and placing him in all kinds of situations makes his reactions much more amusing compard to anything GV can say.
And when you add that his own sister is an adept that adds a long term dramatic edge to his story that can spiral out of control at any moment.
If the writers are smart, they WON'T make him change his opinion on adepts, instead they should double down on him despising them.
Because it's an interesting character trait, the fact that he's not really a hero per se makes him more interesting than the alternative.
>When the villain is /r
tfw unironically suits as a Yea Forums banner
>GV is the classic hero type and there's some depth going on with him and his romantic life with added tragedy etc.
Not really. GV fucks up a lot and is prone to placing the needs of those close to him over everything else. He's too soldierly too. He's more like Zero than MM. MM would have at least tried to talk down his opponents before reluctantly killing them. Except for the god-complex, Nova is more similar to a very dark classic hero since he's actually protecting regular people from superpowered crazies at the cost of his own kind (which makes sense since he's a grimdark copy-X knockoff).
Teseo is a Yea Forums shitposter. That's his whole character in the translation.
>It's something that even Inti has acknowledged is kind of a problem.
And now his newest exclusive game is turning him into the only sane man in a world filled with Adepts that have nearly put humanity to extinction, practically rewriting the universe to give him justification.
To be fair, Tenijin has more reasons to be genocidal maniac than Copen does. That guy had a fucked up background and got to experience the worst of humanity over and over again whenever he tried to give them a chance.
He kills a highly sympathetic Adept who was trying to give him hints about Sumeragi. If anything, they're doubling down on it.
Yeah Teseo is essentially a 2chan (now "5channel", i guess, weird ass renaming...) shitposter wich translates in the west as a Yea Forums shitposter.
Pretty amusing.
Nova is X, with a ton of character flaws thrown in to make him interesting. He even recruits former enemies to his side with the force of his ideals. They apparently had to tone down how "right" he was because the original draft's ending was too grimderp even for them.
MegaMan can't work in 3D.
I think the problem is ZXA feels like a third game and we skipped the second.
Then what was supposed to be the second?
But Jackson
Nice how he turned around in his boss refight and basically told Zero to fuck Weil up. Must have had a talk with redeemed dead Phantom after he died.
It's entirely likely that the General was slightly Maverick due to hanging around Sigma and only became aware of it once X beat him
Do any of the X games really go into detail with the implication that the government no longer defines Mavericks as infected Reploids and just uses it to define enemies of the government?
Can somebody tell me where is the gallery? I can't find it in this town.
Elpizo did nothing wrong
Isn't that how it's always been since the first game, before the virus was even a threat?
Elpizo did everything wrong as a commander lmao
I think Lumine says something along those lines in X8. That "going maverick" is just a natural consequence of having free will and that there are bad humans too.
And for humans to be mutilated.
Things are just worse for everyone.
He only says that because all the Next-Gen Reploids have Sigma's virus-infected DNA in their copy chips, they can all become Mavericks like him. Nothing is said about it being a matter of free will, just sabotage.
Nah, getting cyborg bodies is a pure upgrade for humans.
He does have a point
It gets watered down over time. It's funny that they still have Maverick Hunters (purifiers are literally called Irregular Hunters in the original Jap script) in Legends.
They even left it in the English a bit. Juno calls Trigger an Irregular at the end of Legends.
I'm playing Megaman 11 for the first time right now. It's pretty fun.
1>2>34
Reminder that this all happened because some old fart made robots sentient just because he could
I've never played any MMZ or MMZX games. Whats the big difference and which ones are better?
>because he could
He wanted humans and robots to coexist as equals.
MMZX series is the sequel to the MMZ series. Z is better overall, but ZX are alright too.
Does anyone know the name for that Megaman, turn based combat RPG.
I remember it having special moves where with one dude you had to get a good Poker hand.
Aren't one or both of the series more metroidvania-like?
>controls an army of fucking pins
based frogposter
ZX and Z1 and ZXA are more Metroidvania like, though ZX and Z1 are kinda scuffed for different reasons. Notably, ZX map system is fucking awful. Its still a really fun game though, just make sure you look up the map online, unless you really wanna deal with the shitty map.
Biggest difference is probably the map system and tone of the game. MMZ is more edgy while MMZX feel like a Sentai series. Also ZX is easier and don't give penalty for items.
In terms of game play they are pretty similar. You shot and slash things.
Command Mission
>blaming Light when he knew the dangers that X could bring and purposely left him in a testing capsule for god knows how long to make sure X was a good boy
>not blaming Cain and any other rich fucks that copied X's design and did none of the testing.
Doctor Thomas Light did nothing wrong. You can blame him for ignoring Wily as shown in the flashbacks shown to us in 11, but not this.
I really want to enjoy this game but everything about its design is just such a fucking pace breaker. What the hell happened to Inticreates designers after the Zero series? It seems like every game they make that doesn't have Capcom over their shoulder has this stupid stop and go gameplay mechanic that goes against the test if their game design.
