Hard mode at the very beginning as it's the only mon that could lose to your first rival battle if you didn't know about the PC potion but also has the best matchups for all the gym leaders. Every casual thought it was the worst because blue might beat him if you just spam tackle.

Picking the fire starter is objectively the most fun choice because you're guaranteed to get a grass mon in the secound route and a water mon shortly after, whereas fire types are much much rarer

There are a lot of people born in 1995 who started with gen 3, or only played the first 2 gens after 2003. I was born in 1997 and played Crystal and Yellow back in 2002 and early 2003 when gen 3 hadn't come out yet, but that was because my older brother owned those games, I was in the demographic for gen 3, while he was in the demographic for the first 2 gens. Like 1994 is the cutoff for whether you're a gen 3 kid or not

Trying my first Pokemon with XY btw. It's alright but a lot of monsters have the same attacks, so "collecting'm all" is kinda pointless and appears as a big fucking waste of time. Same for evolutions, a lot of time is require for the sole sake of completing the pokedex. It's tiresome.
