I really like it. The background are cool, guns are cool, enemies are cool, fuck the acid centipede.
The urban levels are my favorites; the more industrial levels, subway, etc get kinda drab after a while. Still on the subway episode so not sure what comes next.

The game is absolutely fantastic and I loved all of it. I am annoyed at them for not just ignoring them though.

It's not that I don't like them, it's just from a character design standpoint it's nothing special.
Sure the rocket tip bra and skimpy outfits are funny and sexy looking, but there's no "character" there, it's just tits and ass, which I can look up on a whim.
I get that she looks generic, or "normal" if you will, but I still think this design suits her best. You can remove the pants to give her a leotard or something if you want here, but the overall design is spot on

It's not really comparable in terms of level design to the old build games, because the more modern engine allows it to get away with levels that would have made the Shadow Warrior or Blood shit themselves violently and explode your computer. The gameplay and graphics have a more cleaner feel to them, benefiting from the years of experience these lads have with the engine.
Personally I think it flows really well, and it's quite a unique thing as far as shooters go. These guys did an amazing job with what they had, and didn't pull any punches with the difficulty and the secrets. The voxels alone are a work of art.
My gripe is the same as with all these throwback shooters and how they add reloading to the mix. I know it's worked into the game's flow so it's not as bad in this one as say brutal doom, but it's an annoyance.
Also I hope this drama doesn't cause them to drop the project and stop patching it, because it's in need of some optimization. Even on a decent PC the more open areas cause frame drops, noticeable ones.

The guys who made Doom didn't change the game in the face of controversy. Today it's a sprite, tomorrow it's a character, the day after it's eliminating a game mode because the chat is too toxic.

Enemies feel really buggy on max difficulty because of the extra movement speed. They clump up in corners a lot.

I got the same issue. Low FPS and screen-tearing all the time. Tried turning v-sync off and switching to software render mode but nothing helps. It's my machine, it can easily run Doom 16 at a steady 60 FPS.

I'm not only making them pander, I'm also making it so no matter how much they pander, or what way, they are always doing a shoddy job and are therefore still phobic and disappointing, 24/7. Every time they do one thing I'll find something wrong with it so they have to constantly think every day on how to better themselves and tinker until they go mad.

I like how oldschool the map designs are. They're also so huge I get lost some times which is great because I love exploring. The game honestly feels like it has "soul' and a lot of love and effort out into it. It's a shame it got tainted with all the drama going on

If we ignore the controversy and put politics aside to focus on discussing the game itself, the game is extraordinarily good. It's very, very good. The level design isn't perfect but it has a general flow a lot of the retro FPS are missing that have come out as of late. The only thing I dislike is it's lack of weapons. I just wanted to see some more. But I enjoyed what we got regardless

For the Ion Bow: Hold down right-click long enough and it will start to auto-shoot a barrage that fucks everything up and chews through bosses.

from what im gathering eduke32 is getting support for ion maiden. its not there yet because they gotta backport some stuff they did to the eduke build that comes with ion maiden but when its done modding modding should be easy. ion maiden was made with mapster32 in the first place so mapping should be a non issue.

It's not one of those "higher health and more damage" on higher difficulty games. It changes enemy placements, amount, ammo and so on, with secrets pretty much being essential to survival and proper strategy required on enemies, using all the weapons at your disposal at all time. Deciding which are most efficient against which enemies and so on

I think weapon balancing is more important than quantity or gimmicks. Duke Nukem 3D tried to offer "creative" weapons, but in my opinion freeze thrower and shrinker just ruin the game with dumb gimmicks that unbalance the gameplay.
Devastator is tolerable because it serves to eliminate some non-fun enemies quickly (but without completely nullifying them as Shrinker does with smaller versions of bosses).
