Put 60 hours into the closed beta, it was fucking phenomenal.

I really hope they get their hands on the Commandos IP.

better than Shadow Tactics?

when

>better than Shadow Tactics?
As good without a doubt, it really comes down to which setting you prefer as to which is better. But from a purely mechanical/design standpoint anyone who enjoyed Shadow Tactics will enjoy Desperados 3.

the closed beta only has about half the game so i can't say for certain. it has made some QoL improvements though.

>shadow mode (now called showdown mode) pauses the game instead of going into slowdown (except on the hardest difficulty)
>the eyeball marker thing can now stick on to moving guards
>characters are better balanced
>you can now go inside some buildings to compensate for not being able to hookshot onto rooftops anymore
>the end of each mission has a result screen that keeps track of all the actor actions and can be paused, FF, and RW
>they brought back dogs
>female guards that can't be seduced

also you can customize the difficulty. the devs mentioned that in yesterday's gamescom stream

they said they're aiming for around the end of the year

Isn't Helldorado Desperado 3?

forgot who has the commandos ip but i believe they said they are planning a new game but haven't picked a dev yet. i hope mimimi gets it if they're aren't too busy. if not, maybe the partisan 1941 devs could try if that game turns out good.

this desperados 3 is a prequel. i don't know why they didn't just call it 0.

cute

desperad0s

>It was reported that Andreas Speer, one of the heads of Spellbound, said the publisher, Atari, missed six months worth of payment which forced Spellbound to lay off staff and release the game not as planned and promoted. A sequel, Helldorado, was made with the scrapped part of the game, but Spellbound could not gain the rights to the Desperados name.

Yes but we don't talk about any desperados beyound 1.

>I really hope they get their hands on the Commandos IP.
Apparently a new Commandos game is in the works, though from different devs.

>female guards
yass slay
dropped desu
fuck them

>no hookshot
oh god

Could still see them having climbing, maybe throwing rope ladders off windows.

...

there are ropes but only cooper can use them

for every female guard there's at least 10 male guards. calm the fuck down.

Am I supposed to be killing a fuckton of gaurds in Shadow Tatics or am I just trash at the game? I got to the part where there's a big door guarded by a Samurai and I'm not really sure how to get past him without high impact violence.

is that the 5th mission with the autumn foliage?

I think so, it's right after the mission in the snowy town were you need to steal the papers from that one important guy.

You can kill them or not, your choice.

>voodoo magic
dropped

i'm not sure if it's possible to ghost every mission but you only need to kill story targets. you can switch to non-lethal anytime or you can by clever with distraction abilities.

the one with aiko and mugen? i dont remember there being a samurai guarding any big doors in that one.

If it's even close to Shadow Tactics it's going to be GOTY for me.

as someone that played the beta, it's already better than anything else i played this year so unless it gets delayed to 2020, it will be my goty.

imagine actually caring about this.

To me is Shadow Tactics 2. Can't wait.

I'm so glad it's good

so it's like Desperados 1 again or what

i mean at first i thought the voodoo was an odd choice but after playing it, isabelle was actually pretty fun to use.

It's normal for a first playthrough.
Once you've finished the game you can go back and you'll find that you're much better at the game and you can pull it off.

it's closer to 1 than the sequels if that's what you're implying.

it's crazy what you can do in that game. i saw somebody beat yabu's estate with just takuma.

Desperados>Commandos

Stealth cowboys seems like a really weird concept.

Why? They're running from the law/several sets of bad guys so it makes sense they'd be hiding.

keep an eye on partisans 1941. if you miss the inventory system commandos had, that game could be up your alley. plus it's interesting to see a ww2 game from a soviet perspective.

desperados and Commandos has more of a heist/A-team vibe to them.
Desperados even has a bank robbery mission, plus a prison break out.
you can make tons of noise, but you had to be smart about it, like using dynamite as a big distraction rather than to actually kill anybody

it's a shame the switch isn't powerful enough to run this and shadow tactics. the touch screen could be a cool way the play the game.

bump
looks cool, thanks

my memory of the original is foggy. was it implied that cooper had already met sam and sanchez before the start of the game?

Literally doesn't matter if you'e not hunting for medals.
I can't fucking wait, I was mad I didn't get into the beta but now I'm almost glad I'll get to experience the finished product.
>still no release date

Fuck them for adding supernatural elements with that voodoo girl, Isabel. I'll leave her in a bush somewhere and ignore her as much as I can.

i'm surprised i was one of the 500 to get picked. if that's your screenshot, you probably deserved it more than i did.

Sam was a part of the old gang, so they knew each other since way back.
Sanchez was never a part of their gang, but they sort of knew/respected each other

so that explains why sanchez isn't in the new game. i hope sam will at least make an appearance at some point in the story.

i can kinda see why sam isn't playable. his play style with the snake could be easily abused.

They could probably make it so you have to "reset" the snake after each kill like the bear trap in Commandos, being able to put it on top of a ladder and then kill dozens of enemies was silly.

It's cool but yeah, I really enjoyed the game.
Bought it at release and dropped it after the third mission, I guess I just wasn't in the mood for that sort of game and I was autistically trying to avoid kills instead of actually having fun. Then I picked it up again a year later and put 40 more hours into it, first beating the game casually and then hunting all the medals.
Amazing game, great story and characters, 10/10 fitting soundtrack too. Hopeful that Desperados 3 will be just as good if not better.

who's your favorite character?

Cant come out soon enough. Shadow Tactics was amazing. Glad that this genre is making a return

what kind of settings would you like to see in future games of this genre?

i don't think we've had a cyberpunk RTT before

It's gonna be epic exclusive, isn't it. They will break my heart.

there's a steam page for it already and the closed beta was a steam key. it's too late for them to do that.

I hope you're right.

>there's a steam page for it already
There was one for Metro Exodus as well, but the closed beta seems promising.

Then again, Tim could still drop a dumptruck load of money again when he checks the most wishlisted list of Steam for potential poaches.

don't even joke about that shit. you have no idea how fucking livid i would be if that happened.

That shitty multuplayer game from spec ops devs - The Cycle, also had a steam page and closed beta was on steam. Now it's epic exclusive and it's completely dead too.

Isn't this genre just RTS for retards?

No it's more like those special missions in RTS where they only give you a handful of units and no base, but actually good because it's designed for it.

are there any other thqnordic published games that are epic exclusive?

It still has a Steam page.

the official website allows to preorder the pc version from a variety of ways including steam.

>the official website allows to preorder the pc version from a variety of ways including steam.
>including steam
So..is it EGS exclusive or not?

Excellet, you'll feel right at home then.

How much harder is Commandos than Blades of the Shogun?
I liked the game but I honestly sucked dick at it. Quicksave and reload to the rescue

no mention of egs

>inb4 it's another fps or as shallow as Commandos 3

if shadow tactics gave you trouble commandos would too.

>it's too late for them to do that.
Metro Exodus has a steam page for months, was accepting pre-orders the entire time, and was less than two weeks from release when they went Epic exclusive

Man, I would hate if my publisher decided to let epic snatch my game at the last moment, making me lose reputation and locking my hard work away to some dead platform in exchange for some quick buck that I won't even profit from.
pls don't do that again

I'd rather they revive Robin Hood.

Are Desperados 1 and 2 worth playing after shadow tactics or am I going to be disappointed?

just play the original. the second game isn't even the same genre.

thqnordic have been building a reputation of "saving video games". it'd be foolish for them to pull a stunt like that and would soil their reputation for good.

looks soulless as expected from the soulless makers of shitshow tactics, a game only overhyped by souless zoomers

This webm is the level where I stopped playing Shadow Tactics. I looked at the hilarious number of guards and just noped out. Everything before that was fun, but I missed the many options Commandos 2 gave me.

it's not nearly as hard as it looks. honestly i think the level before it is slightly harder.

hell i've done the badge for not using any of hayato's skills

now the final level, that's some serious shit. getting takuma through that initial part is probably the hardest part of the whole game aside from optional badges.

It's by far the hardest level for the medals too and you have to do it a million times to get them all.
>use the wagons
>don't use the wagons
>poison the sake
>kill of the torch carriers
>don't kill anyone
>never drop Masaru (literally have to kill everyone on your path)

Attached: Desktop Screenshot 2018.01.16 - 17.02.06.09_1.jpg (1920x1080, 743K)

if you know what you're doing, you never need to play a mission more than twice to get every badge.

>building a reputation of "saving video games"
Is this before or after the disasterous AMA on infinityhan?

Pretty good, that one gave me a lot of troubles but the worst was Suganuma village when I attempted almost all badges at once.
>don't reclaim Mugen's gear
>don't climb vines or ladders
>don't step on loud surfaces
>free the farmers before mugen
>kill 3 enemies with rocks
>kill 4 enemies with a single grenade
It was hell and took and hour and a half ingame time so actually much more than that.
Had to abuse the shit out of Kuma to chain pull some guys and then magic flute them into traps one by one.

yeah that one was a bitch lol

>magic powers
dropped harder than hard west

What does tying up people do in Desperados 3?
Does it neutralize them completely without killing?

yeah

>revived the genre
>REEEEEE SOULLESS MUH COMMANDOS
Sit down, retard.

What's stopping you from doing that to every guy you knock out?

other guards seeing you because it takes longer to tie someone up than just killing them

I mean, can't you just knock out some guy, drag him into some bush and then tie him up?
In Shadow Tactics, you only had very few specific hiding places for people you knock out, for the rest you had to plan around the fact that they'll wake up at some point. It seems pretty simple to just tie them up and get rid of them forever without counting as a kill if you get what I'm trying to say.

they wake up faster to compensate for that

also not every character can tie people up

So finding a time and place to tie them up is actually super important, I get it.
Still feels kinda cheap but I'm sure MiMiMi is aware of that and I'll be proven wrong.

other guards can untie them if they reach them.

So it's kinda like that one C&C mission where you only have a handful of soldiers in that underground tunnel network? Sounds right up my alley, I loved those types of missions.

Mate go and pick up shadow tactics on steam right now. In fact I think it's got a free demo so you have no excuse not to download that. It's the first of this kind of game I've ever played (except a demo of the original desperados forever ago) and it was my goty by a mile.

this. i've never tried any games of this genre prior to ST and only gave it a shot because they were cool enough to release a demo. i've never been more happy from stepping out of my comfort zone in a game.

ST is far better than the bloated mess that is Commandos 2.

I'll give it a go then, hopefully my toaster laptop can handle it. Looks pretty damn interesting.

i doubt it will run on a toaster laptop but it's a demo so you have nothing to lose

It's a RTT with focus on stealth, it's far better than RTS for single player.

>le soulless zoomy zoomers!

trying too hard to fit in
