Oh, I agree 100%. But I currently enjoy Ultimate a lot more because the community is much larger, less elitist, and the game has a much larger roster with some of my favorite characters in gaming. Yes Melee is overall better competitively (and had better 1P content), but Ult is “good enough” and the larger roster more than makes up for it, creating a richer and much more diverse meta. Plus, Ultimate is a significant step up from 4 and Brawl. We’re never gonna get Melee 2.0, but Ult is a nice compromise. Again, it’s “good enough.” Plus, Melee 2.0 would be extremely unbalanced and make defensive characters like Zelda totally unviable competitively. Whereas now, sure she’s mid tier, but she’s at least usable competitively.

If you have a toaster you can probably run it. It's not very hardware intensive and Dolphin's optimized specifically for Melee. Input lag isn't a problem on emulator either.

It's hard to care about the competitive scene of any game these days. Every top player eventually builds up a fanbase and then they fuck off to become generic variety streamers instead of competitors. This make it feel like even if there's a player you really like, he's only going to be there for a bit until he eventually starts to make a lot of money from streams instead of winning big tournaments.

A few minutes ago I unsubscribed from Mango's youtube channel because he's definitely going that route, playing fucking Minecraft. I'm surprised Hbox is still putting in work, but that's maybe because he doesn't have the huge following he wants or needs on Twitch in order to retire. Same goes for the rest of the well-known players.

Stream money has sucked the joy out of competition. "Why work so hard if I can just sit down and play random games and get paid more than what I would if I won EVO?". And it's hard to argue against that because it's true. But still, it just means a lot of players aren't passionate about the games, the community or anything else. It' hard to care for Melee or Ultimate when this plague is going around.
