honestly game was just so fucking boring. OST and visuals looked nice but the overall picture of how it felt to play a game that looked and sounded like that didn't meet the expectations. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, but it did absolutely nothing to encourage me to continue playing.

4 years after their kickstarter funded completely. It might actually even be in 2022 if they go for a 4 year dev cycle.

It's Kickstarter got started in 2014 but if we assume that they took a bit more time to make assets then it they probably started as early as 2013. Which is a good 4 years before release. But forget don't that this was literally their first actual big game, they switched to Unity and had to figure that shit out, and didn't have an actual foundation to go off on.
They apparently started on Silksong as a sequel as soon as HK released so back in 2017. Keep in mind that while they did still work on the different content packs the game had, Silksong is now being developed on a hefty foundation with them having clear experience in Unity not to mention an extra coder to boot.
