Is it just me, or is nobody questioning these two different canon styles of Octoling?
There's a theory that says how most Octolings are Octarians, aka octopus tentacles with the form of a person, but some Octolings are actually a real complete octopus, because Inklings are a complete squid. Not many people give it credit. What do you think?
I think it's because the old Octo hair is too big to work with the hats and stuff.

Reminder that octos dont belong in the surface

How about old hair being some kind of hat

i thought of it as there being natural octos and mitosis octos which just end up as the same thing when mature but i don't have any lore to back that up.
I always assumed the freaky tentacle abominations were akin to deformed clones/mutants used to fill out the army. The earliest Octarian individual we know of is Octavio, who is obviously an Octoling.
You know how Octopuses have a "brain" in each tentacle? They probably just lob off a tentacle and give a it a task to do, just as an actual octopus can focus on things separately from its limbs. Also the Octoweapons are clearly not natural creatures and each one is implanted with a similar tentacle that gives it life. Definitely reeks of genetic fuckery and biological weaponry, over them just being that way to begin with.

Would be pretty neat.

a good part of their army is just quickly made mooks

well squids are too dumb to tell the difference anyways.
Don't they use them for locomotion? At least it should work as something
Jace Peterson
Nah, they're mostly just decoration in their humanoid forms I think the devs have even said they can cut them like hair with no pain, which explains the hime cut squids
