It Also depends a lot on the map. Some maps have you start very close to the enemy and the enemt charges you so the distance you have to travel is shorter. You can always just let your armor lag behind and cover for reinforcements like, once you cover the big chokepoint.

Most infantry units have 5 movement until Master classes so 4 move armors don't lag behind that hard until you teach later points in the game. You have tools like Stride, March Ring, Warp and a Dancer so using an Armor -> Fortress until you hit 30 is not that impossible. I would suggest changing to War Master or Great Knight for a Master Class.

I don't understand why Ferd is automatically on Edel's side if you don't recruit him. Even on pre-skip, Edel never liked Ferd and Ferd saw Edel as competition. I mean, Ferd even admits he believes in Sothis and wants to retain the Noble class, or something similar even in own supports with Edel, when all Edel wants to do is remove the Noble Class and religion.

Ferd siding with BEs is almost as nonsensical as Felix joining the BEs. Because she's a flawed character who overcomes her flaws and accepts the bad parts of her and actually changes and grows through the story. Also she's one of the only people whose support with Byleth is actually good since it revolves around said character growth.

The GBA games are a great start, but my personal favorite lies with the Tellius series (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn).

If you are playing normal, you can grind to level 99, don’t worry about stats then. Otherwise promote as earliest as possible unless you are looking for specific class master skills like what said. At first I thought Catherine and Shamir were going to suck, but they become absolute monsters (and Exp hogs).

Noble/Commoner is useful early game and even mid game and isn't hard to get before reaching level 5. Archer, Brigand, Mage, and Pegasus Knight are really good and you should go for them if you can. Other than those, it doesn't really matter much. You aren't missing out if you don't master other classes but it's a nice bonus

Every route has this map. GD, church, and BL are all the same scenario. BE starts on the other side of the map.

Lorenz leaves you on church and BL. The paladin is only there for GD.

When I did church, all the knights of Seiros joined me extremely late, so they were almost worthless.
On the timeskip bandit map, Seteth couldn't get more than 70% accuracy, and was always doubled back, meanwhile all of the students were literal gods.
The only one that I salvaged was Catherine because she's just too good and I got deathblow and vantage on her from previous runs.

If you recruited Lorenz on BL or church pre-timeskip he won't be in your party post-timeskip. You have to fight and spare him on the bridge to get him back. You fight him even if you didn't recruit him, he'll just always die.

On GD, he never leaves the party, so they just stick a generic paladin among the enemy alliance units.

If you are GD, Lorenze stays on your team, and the map uses a generic paladin or Ferdie depending on your route and who you poached. Any non GD route will feature Lorenze as the enemy unit but if you recruited him ore-timeskip then Byleth and spare him and he rejoins you.

He's the definition of mediocre. If you are really dedicated you can get him to work but it takes more effort would care to put in.

The way I see it, is that canon wise (despite you never using it at all) Byleth Spam’s Divine Pulse at every turn. All unavoidable deaths are because he/she has none to spare after the battle. I like to think that Byleth had one more left for his own dad, hence why he only did it once.

Randolph was a mass murderer and probably a rapist too. Edelgard's army turns the Kingdom and Alliance into shitholes in the other routes

he fucking does, the game fails to make it obvious but he does spam it, we only have a limit in gameplaywise, for example in Catherine b support he dodges a move he had no right it was comming, he clearly got hit and DP out of it cuz he though it was getting attacked, other characters remark how he knows what to say or exactly what to do before things happens, we needed to see Byleth try to save Jeralt minimum 3 times

To be fair a lot of that has been concocting within. Fates and Echoes had towns and castles to explore, supports have been a thing since FE7 and have only gotten more attention every game. I don't think they'll ever let go of marriage after Awakening. Growing young units from low levels and building them has been a thing since Gaiden, the second FE game in the series back on the NES.

The only thing is the school setting and calendar, which I feel is overstated, and It plays very well into the drama of the second half of the story.

Fire Emblem has always been an embarrassingly shallow tactics franchise. I agree that overhauling the battle system should be the focus instead of appealing to the worst of the weebshit audience though.

She’s the responsible tomboy that wishes to be a Knight, but is being pressured by her family to get married for financial reasons. Also due to how poor her territory is with its famine, she tends to have a very large appetite.

Or as Sothis had said, it was fate and he knew DP wouldn't work even if he tried.

Dimitri is really the only guy who changed, meanwhile Sylvain, Ashe, and Ferdinand (off the top of my head) feel like they should have gotten a similar change
