It's weirdly spelt, but you have to remember that most of Hebrew usage was done by diaspora Jews, who wrote the latter half of the old testament in exile, designed as a survival guide/general community guidelines. This is why eating pork wasn't allowed; it's not that pork is bad for you, it's that you probably couldn't treat it correctly when you were in slavery.
The word probably stems from this mindset, where charitable deeds towards your neighbor aren't done because you're that better off, but that you are collectively surviving daily atrocity that is your existence. Y'know I wouldn't mind their dickery as much if (1)they didn't say "EXCLUSIVE OR FUCK OFF" for indies like DARQ, and (2)they actually gave a damn about making their storefront work. It's not like they don't have the money to simply brute force a functioning storefront in a matter of weeks.
