AAA development has become unsustainable, both damaging for gaming as a medium and for those who work in it. No wonders if AA games such as Divinity:Original Sin recently have been nailing it instead of stuff with reduced complexity like Fallout 4, whose production value was probably higher than 100 million dollars.

You're right in that it is damaging the medium, but it is definitely doing fine. Fallout 4 and even Fallout 76 might cost over 100 million, but it is making many times more money than it cost. Fallout 4 sold 10's of millions of copies. They can coast for a while just fine.

You've really got problems to still be tracking a literal who indie developer with next to no continued online presence.

I think it's more that his social circle is full of people who want to be known for creating things but of course, outside of very successful patreons, making a living on the internet off of creative works is harder than ever, so they have to resort to things like lets plays for income while they also try to do the creative things they actually want to do as well. The moment they see the opportunity to instead pursue their creative interests, they bounce, and who can blame them? Income is income, a job's a job. I know I'd do the same if I had the right energy to be a let's player.
