Kiwami or PS2 Yakuza? Never played the series before and want to start with the first one.
Kiwami or PS2 Yakuza? Never played the series before and want to start with the first one
just suck it up and start at 0. People WILL make fun of you but it's better than starting at 1. Kiwami is more of a sequel to 0 anyway. A lot of purists won't like that TRUE statement but alas.
It really doesn't matter.
People say they like the atmosphere better in PS2 Yakuza. Is it really that much better or are they being contrarians?
I would say kiwami, based on the improvements in game design.
HEY YOU!
Either start with 1 on PS2, or start with 0. There's absolutely no reason to start with Kiwami.
If you're starting completely vanilla, Yakuza 1.
It'd be different if you played 0 first since then I'd say Kiwami for the extra Nishiki story bits really hitting harder after a 0 run
Either start with PS2 1 or start with 0. K1 expects you to be coming from 0, not taking it as a starting place despite being a remake of 1.
Start with the PS2 ones. And FOR GOD dont start with 0, spoil SO MANY things of the rest of the games (especially the 4 one).
5>3>4=0>KW2>KW1
I started with the PS2 game and never finished Kiwami when it came out in the West. Though that might be because I was fatigued of the series at that point.
That's because Kiwami sucks.
theyre just being faggots. Kiwami is better than than Y1 unequivocally
Shit taste honestly. 5 is definitely weakest of all games. Taxi driver kiryu is the WORST
>actually playing the games is "contrarinism" now
A quick google search will reveal the issues that Kiwami has. The evidence is there.
you need to be more subtle
How?
NORTH STAR, REMASTERS, 6, JUDGEMENT, KENZAN, AND ISSHIN ALL ON PC WHEN SEGA
>spoil SO MANY things of the rest of the games (especially the 4 one).
What? The only possible spoiler is the fortune telling substory which just tells you what Kiryu will be doing in the future and how Majima lost his eye, but they just play the same cutscene from 4 anyway and you won't know who the guy is until you play 4 regardless since they don't namedrop him. They don't even go into any depth with Saejima besides "I need to get into the Tojo Clan to get to Saejima" because they leave everything up to you playing 4. Even the final cutscene just teases you on what to expect in 1. At most you miss a bunch of references, and the vast majority of those are 5 and Ishin ones with some 2 and 4 ones sprinkled in there.
Let me guess friend, you are one of those faggots who think zero is the best, and most likely even has it as their first yakuza game
2 is my favorite, how bad does k2 mess it up? How much do they change?
what is this retarded ESL going on about
6's awful ragdoll fight system and fights feel weird, Everyone has a life bar above their head and the camera is zoomed WAAAAAAY out so it's less dynamic than it used to be, less personal. Graphics are super duper though.
1
pros
>enhances your enjoyment of the series overall because it sets you up to see the design and technical progression
cons
>game is a bit clunky and might grate modern sensibilities if you are sensitive to old game design
0
pros
>immediately throws you into the best game in the series, meaning its more likely to strike your fancy
>is enjoyable on its own even if you decide you don't want to play the entire series
cons
>the rest of the series is downhill from here
>miss out on many great references and fanservice to past entries
>progression is weird because you have to go back and play PS3 games afterwards
Kiwami
pros
>none
cons
>same weird progression as 0 where you have to play PS3 games afterwards
>game heavily assumes that you've played 0 and tons of context is lost if you haven't
Start with 1 or 0.
What the fuck is an ESL?
dilate
You don't have to load in every city block seperately in Kiwami. The combat is more polished in Kiwami from what I hear from OG Y1 and 2 players.
You have to be retarded to think 0 is better than Kiwami 2.
>Kiwami is better than than Y1 unequivocally
>from what I hear from OG Y1 and 2 players
Why the fuck are you even commenting if you haven't played both? You don't know shit.
the ragdoll is great, neck yourself
>from what i hear
So you dont even fucking know, jesus christ this fucking board.
>2's retarded story
>shitty dragon engine combat
yeah, no
It's mostly for the better with some caveats. You have some content swapped out for others (Specifically IF6 for Virtua Fighter, Adam for Clan Creator, and Marietta for Four Shine), some music was changed for the worse (But you can mod it in on PC if you bought it there), Ryuji is way easier for no reason, they removed some side areas like the pier where you fight Amon originally, and Shinseicho was removed. The positives are you have all of the Dragon Engine benefits (and the negatives like the enemies bouncing you), the new content is pretty good, there's more substories, you can't miss out on Amon anymore, there's no missables, you have the Majima Saga which closes out stuff from 0 and explains how Majima came to own Kamuro Hills to begin with, the Bouncer stuff gives you some unique fight situations, the Coliseum has all the wrestlers from 6 and K2 to fight on top of the usual fare, obviously there's more minigames, and DoD's got some of the stuff from the later games like charged attacks.
All you gotta do is look up gameplay for 5 seconds to know that Kiwami has the mostly the whole city loaded in all at once, and the original game loads each block seperately.
the combat doesnt suck shit for one
the map is a complete load
it doesnt crash every 30 mins
the animation and graphics are phenomenally better
theres more shit to do
the story makes considerably more sense and the characters are far more engaging and understanding
ive played y1 plenty user, its a good game but kiwami is simply better in all aspects
ragdoll has never been great in any game ever no one fucking falls like that its shit.
>it doesnt crash every 30 mins
What the fuck is this twat on about? Yakuza doesn't crash? Wot?
you
start with 0
Y2 and K2 are fully aware they have a fun, brainless story emulating old school Japanese Yakuza movies and cheese/camp. Y0 is an unfocused, overambitious mess that shoehorns characters into the plot for fan demand, and has completely fucked pacing.
Still dont get it though
I guarantee you can find it by googling. No one is going to spoonfeed your retarded ass.
>no fun allowed
>From what I hear
Was regarding the combat specifically.
English as a second or foreign language? Wot?
>fun
holy shit retard
nigga if you got through the entire millenium tower in the final chapter without it freezing up at least once youre the luckiest faggot on earth.
That game froze on roughly every 4th loading screen
I started with 0, in fact it is the only one I played, and am waiting until the next Steam sale to get YK1. Have I incurred in purist rage?
Point is you have not played the fucking games retard and you are speaking as though you have perspective to offer newcomers on the matter, you do not.
I didn't experience a single crash in Yakuza 1. Were you emulating?
It's just a way people say "your posts don't make sense". "You are foreign, therefore your english skills are poor, therefore your posts are stupid, and so are you." Get it?
this
I want maximum realism in my Yakoozi games.
Your PS2 sounds fucked to me m8. Or the disc.
Yes, God I hate people like you. Spewing how 0 is best without having played earlier ones. I will knock your teeth out. Metaphysically.
No i dont, its a shit meme.
Seems like you're getting mad at imaginary people lol.
Thats absolutely remarkable. I played on a ps2 slim and the game froze sporadically after talking to npcs all the time.
both are in totally fine condition.
The ps2 is refurbished and the disc doesnt have a single scratch or crack (I'm autistic about disk cleanliness)
I've never had a crash even while emulating so I don't know what your problem is.
You obviously don't belong here then.
I don't know dude. I've never heard anyone else complain about crashes in that game, so my inclination is to believe it was a problem with your setup somehow.
PS2 if you can. It's dripping with atmosphere in a way that K1 isn't and doesn't have all the gay 0fag pandering, and it's easier to then play K1 later if you want to.
No, I simply said
1. A fact about the game, it loads city blocks seperately and
2. What I've been told by people who have played the series since Y1, and in no way implied I played from the start.
I didn't speak as though I had a perspective to offer to newcomers, I said someone else's perspective that was shared with me, a newcomer. Illiterate.
jesus fuck
kill yourself namefag
It's a downgrade in everything but graphics. AT LEAST get the licensed music patch.
PS2. It's satisfying seeing the evolution of a series.
ps2fags dont have a single good argument
You are literally the worst kind of person.
that's a tripfag, not a namefag, you newfag
yeah I'm glad I played in release order
You're only proving him right, ESL newfaggot
