Wait are you saying the hub world was a bad thing? Because I'm playing the first one now and like most open-world RPGs, it's annoying as fuck. Give me proper levels you incompetent faggots

play paper mario instead.

idk about you but when I first played PiT I thought I was gonna explore another vast kingdom. Instead I was confined to Peach's castle

They didn't; it's my favourite Mario RPG and one of the best in the series.

I can’t even recall if it was the hub that made this game shit. It just wasn’t good compared to the first or third. What an oddity.

Honestly I think it’s the characters more than anything else. The story’s premise is neat but the execution is pretty mixed. The game is fucking dark for a Mario game which was neat but a lot of the characters original to this game aren’t memorable in the slightest to me. The hub world is definitely an issue though, it really gives the world this disconnected feel compared to the other games, which is disappointing when the premise is so interesting. I would’ve loved to explore a full map of a desolate Mushroom Kingdom but you don’t really get that here.

the bosses weren't that hard, they were just massive HP sponge slogs in the NA version

Source?

How come carrying your past self not create a time paradox?

Different timelines, except not really, because interacting with young e. gadd makes his older self come up with new ideas?

I really disliked the change from cool bro attacks that used the overworld abilities of mario and luigi in combat to random items you're always carrying a near-infinite supply of

I like the commercial better

Yeah, this was a big one.
PiT was my first M&L game, so by all rights it should have won nostalgia points, but when I played SS later... it was just a better game. I feel that SS had more real meaningful hidden content than PiT had (which was 90% beans), which I liked discovering, and SS's alternate bro moves you could use after getting good enough at the main form were also something I really liked, and have no idea why they cut from PiT.

>Yea Forums tells me BIS is the best in the series
>bloated with shitty minigames required to progress the main story
>touch screen gimmick horse shit
>slow as fuck giant battles
>you have to collect puzzle pieces to make a fucking Bros. attack for some stupid reason
>mario and luigi are stuck in bowser's body the entire game and it's basically the worst parts of superstar saga and partners in time but all the time
>the main overworld is empty as fuck because fat fuck bowser has to walk around in it and there's jack shit to do
>Midbus is a weak fucking rival with almost no backstory or development
fuck you guys

This remains the only Mario RPG I've played. I like it. It's a little too short and the combat system is pretty basic, though. The world needs more porn of the younger Princess Shroob .

I never ended up beating the final boss I think.
>tfw you play these games before you become the tryhard faggot that tries to beat hard bosses

bosses are a joke if you use items, which you have plenty of. dodging and countering everything perfectly without getting hit is pretty hard though
