The good news is that you can now raise two on the same device, fight a tournament mode if you have no friends or extra digivices, and also trade or clone with people who do have them.

Also there are color version locked special eggs. That you can only unlock after fighting with 5 unique other physical digimon.

I have one and it's ok. Also I am sick of getting fucking Greymon. I even tried specifically to not get him and he just digivolved to that tonight. I couldn't escape that in my youth and I can't escape it now.

It's obnoxious that the mini games are tied to evolution otherwise it's just a fucking chore simulator.

anyone remember the instant teddymon glitch? inserting and removing the battery tab rapidly would sometimes cause it. it always seemed like a "that kid" rumor but it actually worked a couple times for me

there's a new tournament type mode that counts toward battle count.

You can still fight with other players and even transfer and share digimon between devices now. All this does is let people who are stuck in the middle of nowhere with no one else to be able to get some more out of what is an extremely niche thing.

Personally I wouldn't have bought one if they didn't add that because it's not a cultural phenomenon now. It's a weird little nostalgic curiosity and very few will have these.

So why did I get it? For that little nostalgia kick I guess and to see what other digimon I may be able to get.

Only if you buy the gray/yellow and connect with other v-pets.

Buy the grey or yellow one then connect with 5 different other devices. $140 give or take worth of vpets to do this.

Honestly kind of dull unless you have other people who have them so there can be a competitive factor to it. That's where most of the fun came from. That and seeing people with ones you hadn't gotten yet and trying to figure out how to get them.

Because selling plastic toys > selling digital games unless it's a gacha game.

Still a lot of sprites and things missing from other digimon vpets I think. That and some don't have a mega evolution so you can be stuck at a dead end with nowhere to go.

Also should have added in the other training types to at least keep things a bit more interesting with the mini games. There's not a lot to do with these and if you're going for specific digimon you can be punished for actually playing.

I had this as a kid but I could never get them to evolve. Every memory of this is just me sweeping their poop away but then they die or they become the poop monster.

It released in japan with japanese and english support and so did digital monster x so it's possible since it wouldn't require too much extra effort if they detect the market is here.

How do you fuck up that bad that consistently? Getting Greymon was super easy. All you had to do was actually play the minigame. It was so easy he was all I ever fucking got except when I actively tried to fuck up to get something different at which point I always got Numemon.

20th ver was going for around $60 before either of those other two released and the english version of 20th is sticking at $20 so far which was about what the very first one costed I think. Still a shame they didn't improve it at all and it was just a localized re-release of what could be considered three gens behind now.
