The VODs are definitely not something you'd want to binge, but there's a lot of great buildup and jokes that get cut from the highlights, like the recent Creepypasta Hack competition.

The person who made it set up a bunch of clues, riddles, and videos for Simple to solve alongside playing the game, but as always he did his own thing, and by complete accident sequence broke everything by talking a wild guess and shooting Mario out of a canon at a skybox texture. What would've been a massive challenge got easily beaten in less than five minutes just because he's that knowledgeable about Mario 64.

The creator of the hack was upset, and to compensate Simple agreed to cut that accidental skip to the end out of the highlights and play through the game properly. It was funny as hell.

The highlight video included all of that though, it just rearranged the sequence of events to show the hack in its intended order rather than how simple experienced it (and directly explained that)

What did the guy expect? If Simple sees anything that he thinks he can cheese or beat alternatively, he'll spend hours just to confirm that he can. A complete shot in the dark that would only take a minute held no risk.

whoever edits simpleflips videos needs to start making them longer. speedrunners like clint and zfg, it makes sense for their highlight reel to be 10-15 mins. But if youre playing a totally new romhack, why trim that down to 10 mins? makes no sense

And honestly these are useful skills, music design and editing, and working with level editing software. Skills that can transfer into a job or career. Not making youtube poop tier songs, but working in sound editing; not making mario romhacks but developing level design and modeling software, etc
