People generally want the social experience along with making friends to do dungeons, raids and crafting with. FFXIV is nothing more than a WoW clone with a solid story in post 2.3 - HW and ShB. Seriously the worst fucking quest design ever in ARR and the 2.1 to 2.9 patch quests make me want to rip my eyes out. Anyone who downplays just how terrible this part of the game either has done it so long ago when it was current content and forgot or legitimately has some kind of autism.
Heavensward is great but its not like "amazing" great, as in, not worth the 250+ quest insanity of the vanilla MSQ. The worst part is nothing is skippable even if you get to level cap, you still have to do all of it.
Talk all the shit about Classic WoW you want, at least that game lets you go to endgame however you want and doesn't make you do all of the quests in Durotar, Barrens, Thousand Needles, Shimmering Flats, Tanaris, Un'Goro, Silithus, etc, before you can join your friends in doing level 60 5-mans or raiding.
I got to post-HW content and heard the Stormblood expansion was only average at best (and bad coming from HW) and just got burnt out. There's a great game there but it cant get out of its own way.

The fact that games like modern WoW and XIV have to time-gate as hard as they can is indicative of the lack of longevity most modern content design has. Sure the "Single Player" story is fun and can be enjoyed I am one of many who enjoys Emet as a character it isn't worth losing soo much of what made past MMOs good. Most of the streamlining both WoW and XIV have done to their games has done nothing but sanitize interaction between their players leading to no real growth of cooperation. You can just hit the DF and done you're connected to the content. It also doesn't help that both games have essentially gone to completely hand-holding players to the extent that they either keep casualizing their jobs or design content so lackluster it does nothing to teach you the basics.

The bigger issue with 1.0 wasn't that it was trying to emulate a more up to date XI but rather that that the team was so far up its own ass that they never bothered to properly communicate leading to a miss matched set of systems that didn't work together. Subsections of the team kept adding more resources to their systems cause they perceived it as more important and the aftermath of it all led to a mad rush to fix everything which ate up resources that were meant for making more content.

I would say to an extent you can somewhat modernize the old MMO feel without streamlining it entirely with things like Duty Finder as survival games out there have shown that if you give players a good chunk of freedom they will gather and create their own communities. Obviously you'd need to adjust it for MMOs and not a Survival game but I think the want for a social game enviroment where making guilds that can help others,fuck with others or even do content in-game without instances is still there, they'd just have to put time and resources into making sure they don't bring another 1.0 into their hands.
Yoshida was smart and played it safe with the WoW-clone remake as it's taking a well known IP and mixing it with the standard of MMOs. If they failed well SE was doomed anyways, if it succeeded then the company had a temporary cash cow to make other cash cows out of.

do i have to spend the money on an expensive seed like glazenut to cross breed more or can I crossbreed cheaper seeds and have a chance for a expensive seed.

if you want to actually make a profit off of glazenuts you need to cross breed them up from cheap garbage plants
just follow a guide on what seeds and soil you need, then water and fertilze them every 24 hours
forgot to mention, the order in which you plant them and pick them also matters, just make sure to follow the charts

So weird stuff like thavnairian onions are a pain. The easiest cash crop is broombush since it's self-sustaining.
First thing is you'll want Grade 3 Thanalan Soil. It can be mined from an unspoiled node at 5-8am in Western Thanalan. Or you can buy Unidentifiable Ore with Tomestones of Poetics and trade that for the soil (look it up).
Anyways you want Almonds in any of the blue spots with any kind of soil. Plant them first.
Then you want Broombush with Grade 3 Thanalan Soil in the red spots. Grade 3 gives a 99% chance of seed crossbreeding and Almonds x Broombush = Broombush (that's why I said self-sustaining). So when you harvest the broombush, you should get 4 seeds to keep re-planting. Don't harvest the almonds unless....
Loads of Dirt Method:
Plant an almond with any kind of soil first.
Then plant the Broombush next to it with Grade 3 Thanalan
Then plant almonds with Grade 3 Thanalan next to the broombush, keep alternating.
This will make 3 of the 4 Almonds also give Broombush seeds to sell.
Then when you harvest, replant each square immediately before harvesting the next square with Grade 3 Thanalan. Then your next batch will have all 8 spots give seeds.

From 70 to 80 on SAM the only changes to what buttons you press are flat out replacing your level 70 ability with a single target version against bosses at level 72, doing a second Midare consecutively once a minute, and an oGCD you use roughly once a phase transition. So functionally in most trash content you just see one animation get swapped to do the same thing and another one get repeated.

DPS has a lot of buttons but it's just memorizing the rotation and trying not to drop stuff. Healers actually have to react to things, manage the team, prepare for big attacks, it's a lot more engaging than DPS at higher levels of play.
In what way
WoW never felt like it had much of a story going, so it was better suited for just letting you take it your way, which I also liked to an extent. Most of the story telling was just in zone lore via the zone quests, which ShB is lacking a fuckload of (lore, not side-quest count) for some reason this time around.
i think the content itself is fine, i just hate the fact that the only thing savage about it is finding people who have at least learned that you need to press a button once every 2.5 seconds

I got to Heavensward and my sub ran out. Classic was only three weeks away by then so I dropped it. Guess I'll come back later to at least finish the story but those 100 extra ARR quests were a real test of patience.

I had a group where I was stuck healing their mistakes, had a SW quadrant buddy for Delta, had to bait NW orb, and then handle E spinny. And then it'd be the DPS who has it easy mechanically that would keep fucking shit up.
I think it could use some improvements, mainly adding a second combo ender, making delirium unique and cutting back on the ogcd spam a little, but it is weird to me that everyone complained about DA spam in SB and now everyone complains that they want the old levels of MP regen back.

I find SCH less braindead than WHM in healing tanks on full pulls while minmaxing DPS. Only part WHM excels at is the ST damage on bosses and that's primarily it.
how is this game if you like to solo play mostly? i love leveling things, and i hear you can have just 1 guy, but level him in each class? i used to play wow and hated that i have to have 13 alts to play, id rather focus on just one character
play an easy job, go on auto pilot while doing your rotation flawlessly and just focus on doing mechanics perfectly
You will be forced to group up for dungeons and bosses and stuff, but you can do it all automatically through party matching queues. XIV is very friendly for spergs who don't like to interact with people. And yes you can play every class on 1 character.
imagine spending a monthly fee (or a one time lump sum) + the cost of several expansions for "it gets good after 200 hours, promise

i guess pick based on what niche you want to fill, RDM is the easiest dps but is a strong safety net for pugs. SAM and BLM just focus dps and don't pay any attention to what other players are doing except for positioning. all of the tanks are so close in balance it hardly matters which one you pick so go for which aesthetic you like the most. WHM for high personal dps, SCH for shields and good dps, AST for throwing cards at people and waiting for the balance patch
if you're new you should be able to access novice chat but you can also go to party finder and set something up or just no life Palace of the dead and Heaven on high until 70 then queue for dungeons or do fates until 80
there is zone chat though? unless you're on free trial and can't use shout. in any case it's really just luck of the draw if you don't have friends, try out any FC that'll take you, if they aren't interacting much and seem really cliquey don't hesitate to leave, since they won't care anyways

As agonizing as 2.5GCD is, when I saw footage of wow combat after not having done it for +10 years I forgot how atrociously bland wow combat animations are, and how floaty the combat is. If you reduced it to 2s GCD for everyone and then had SAM/NIN/MNK drop down even further I'd be pretty happy with it
As much as I like the Garlean principle, we know from the ascian's own mouths that the more desperate someone gets the more powerful the primal summoned will be. And if you cage a primal as in say, Ultima Weapon, you end up with a Bahamut situation down the line. Nevermind don't forget it was the Ascians who taught people and beast tribes how to summon primals. It's rather telling how nobody in the first has summoned a primal (unless there's some ferreted away quest that has a summoned primal) until the WoL starts to do so with Eden. It's because they literally do not know how.

Yep every class starts at level 1, no matter how high leveled your main one is. However every class below your max receives a 30% XP bonus to help level faster

Savage bosses are way too lenient on groups that aren't topped off on life. Healers don't even pre-cast for tank busters or AoE damage anymore because the boss just sits there auto attacking the tank for 20 seconds. Also instant AoE heals were a mistake.
Savage bosses were tuned for first week bare min ilvl clear.
