I never understood the appeal of the two dog-like guardians. Both super similar, both kind of boring. I still fucking love this game forever though. Favorites were Phalanx, Dirge, Avion and Argus

I thought luring the other one around the arena until he fucks himself up was really fun but super tedious on replays.

Cenobia (the second one) gave me a fond memory I'll never, ever forget. When you're above ground, the music is turned down because there's no real tension. After his armor was stripped by the falling debris, as soon as I hopped on his back, this part of the OST began to play. Immediately at this part.

And then he starts running around the ruins, me frantically trying to stab him. Fucking perfect, utterly sublime moment that I'll never forget.

"What happens to the boy after defeating a Colossus? Does he die? And how does he end up back in the castle" etc. and it's wonderful witnessing them asking these questions among themselves. Especially when they are debating wether it's okay that the boy is killing all the Colossus. I always reply to the questions with vague answers like "I don't know. Maybe the colossus are evil, maybe not. What do you think?". I split the story up in several parts so I tell one colossus-fight at a time, so that the kids can keep the concentration. I really recommend you try and tell your niece, nephew or kids stories from the game. I think there is a lot to learn from the story and it's something that really will get their imagination going. Do it, I'm sure they'll love it :)

I enjoyed figuring them out massively and have super fond memories of all the colossi but the two guardian dog types have less replayability and that taints my perception of them

I've always wondered at the dubiousness of the comment, but it is truthful that ICO and SotC (not played TLG) get the imagination rolling in wondrous ways. Can't wait to get my niece into the SotC.
