FE units all have their own stories and losing one of them early on can mean locking yourself out of a good chunk of content

BE is the shittiest but it isn't the best one to start with. It's shorter but a bit more unique than the other routes so instead of playing the unique (but worse) one first and then 3 similar ones after it's better to play it somewhere in the middle. It also kind of presents the story worse and when it's your first time experiencing the story (which is 75% the same between routes) you don't want to go for the weaker one because by your second play through you will already be rushing through it. A better order is BL -> GD -> BE -> Church

Lysethia is a meme unit that sacrifices vital stats for additional magic that is well beyond the point needed to 1shot any unit. Then you'll get another choice a little while later. The game makes it VERY obvious that it's the route split choice so you can't miss it unless you didn't see her coronation. If that happens, you're locked into the fourth route.

Why the fuck is the game so bad at providing and explaining information? Buffs like [Weapon]breaker should be displayed when hovering/selecting an unit or at least in the combat forecast. Also these skills look almost identical to the combat arts so I legitimately thought they were combat arts and was looking for them for ages. Which leads me to my next point:

Abilities are never properly explained and differentiated from every other shit you can learn in the game. I didn't know that abilities were a thing you could equip until I was 20 hours in and I realized that most of my dudes were full of abilities for weapons they literally didn't use.

What the fuck is the fast forward sign that appears on some support levels? It's not even always at their highest.

It'd also be helpful to know how much of a certain skill do I need to recruit someone, to see if it's viable for me to do it without fucking up my build.

Riding gives you the incredibly useful Movement +1 at A+. Flying gives you the very useful Alert Stance and Alert Stance+. Also, if you get them to S+ rank, you get a skill which nullifies extra effectiveness against mounted units/flyers. The latter is nice because it makes bows not do extra damage to flyers.

The "fast forward sign" means the units can reach C+/B+/A+ instead of just C/B/A.

The skills for riders are really good. As for the class thing, its only gonna fuck over growth rates and combat skills exp if you make them to something that has there weakness.

Sure. You don't even really need the stat boost items to beat the game, give them to whoever you want to make better.

With patience, you can always savescum growing stat boosting items every week once you know which seeds give which stat.

Depends how fucked. If they’re only screwed over on one area like spd or strength it’s worthwhile, but if they’ve been screwed over on multiple areas don’t bother saving them
On my blue lions playthrough Ingrid got strength screwed but had healthy stats in every other area so it was well worth roiding her up.

Yes, I'd say it's the most effective way of creating bonds in combat since they'll get bond points for pretty much everything they do asides from waiting.

From a stats point of view, everyone is capable of becoming a good anything unless you're a faggot minmaxer.
But you need to decide very early on, because stat growth is based on current class. So if you have Raphael as a berserker, there's not much use in turning him into a bishop because his magic stats will already be too low by that point.

Also whatever you do, avoid any of the heavy classes. They're broken in both ends: They're incredibly OP against physical units, but terribly weak against magic units, and they move so little that it's basically impossible to make them see action unless it's a level where the enemy rushes you

I'd really only look down on it if you're doing shit like growing absurd amounts of stat boosters ideal for your Lord to make them even more ridiculous.

I groomed Dedue to be a heavy knight and fucking dropped it after 3 battles. There's point in having a character that needs 3 turns to get where everyone else can get in 1 turn. Anyone who can be a heavy knight can be a better brigand

Because Rhea gets captured by the Empire in the other routes. Only by initially siding with Edelgard and then betraying her can you keep Rhea from spending 5 years in an Imperial prison.

I'm not even sure if baiting works in this game because the AI tends to target the weakest characters, i.e mages and archers will almost always be targetted by swordsmen or lancers, or archers will target flyers

I dislike heavy classes because they WILL fall behind both literally and figuratively. They move too slow to ever see combat and their defensive bonuses only come in handy for enemies that nobody else has trouble with. You should really only bring them for monster or boss fights and use them as axe classes whenever they're not in one of those missions
