Kojima is a good director, though. He's just a shit writer. Fukushima had nothing to do with the directing.
Kojima should unironically move to directing movies.

he looks like he was the type to be the delinquent though

but why is Gilbert Gottfried in a dress next to him?

That's Fred Fuchs

>Kojima should unironically move to directing movies.

He probably lacks a lot of technical knowledge regarding that medium, but he can direct a scene.

He could make CGI movies if not real ones.

There is also a short interview with him when MGS2 came out on niconico.

Probably was, if his current behavior on Twitter is any indication.

I don't know. Snake Tale E was kinda funny and took a piss at Jack and Rose. There's only so much you can do when dealing with recycled assets.

Dear God no. The cutscenes in his games put together already are an animated movie. But they don't work without gameplay because his stories are designed purely to complement gameplay.

>But they don't work without gameplay because his stories are designed purely to complement gameplay.
I don't understand your basis for saying this.

I wish more video game devs had more a rock star vibe that they used to get in the media but now a days we get a "auteur" vibes instead calling them geniuses or w/e.

Basically I miss the fun side when talking about video games but now everyone is so serious when discussing them.

The first minutes of this don't look that good. Annoying shaky camera. Tanks and choppers out of nowhere engaging that thing needlessly close. It looks like you're average action anime scene, but without cuts that make it look cooler.

It's something Kojima himself stated. You can't develop feelings for characters like Snake and Big Boss without interacting with them. Consider how Snake is a million times more recognisable than Snake Plissken from Escape from New York. Also the settings in his games like Shadow Moses work largely because they're games. How can you make a movie about a guy slowly sneaking through a ship? Or slowly sneaking through a jungle? Or the supernatural boss fights? Only games can offer these experiences.

>Games are made differently to movies
No way dude.

>muh fukushima
remind me again how many games he's written after leaving konami?

Freedom Wars is the only game he has been acknowledged to had contributed to the writing.

As soon as he's booted from KojiPro, the series plot and writing suddenly goes all to shit. Really makes you think.

MGS always had question writing though.
>MGS1: Liquid Snake's entire motivation for hating Solid Snake stems from Kojima never reading high school biology.
>MGS2: I LIVED THROUGH THIS ARM!
>MGS3: Rewrote Big Boss's entire backstory from Metal Gear 1 and 2 because Kojima desperately wanted to have a Solid Snake game set in the 1960's.
MGS was always action movie schlock.

He wasn't a writer on Freedom Wars though. Why do people keep spreading this misinformation?

He's not the main writer, but I recall reading an interview that he contributed ideas to the story.

>>MGS3: Rewrote Big Boss's entire backstory from Metal Gear 1 and 2 because Kojima desperately wanted to have a Solid Snake game set in the 1960's.
Is this true? is all the Kojima praise just a meme?

holy based

When did you realize Kojima was a hack?
>calls Big Boss "Snake" even when it doesn't make sense to, in every single one of his games
>the only time where he's called "Big Boss" in said games is in TPP when he becomes a NPC
>but TPP translation leak shows that even as a NPC, Kojima and Murata still call him "Snake" and not "Big Boss", shoo boppity whoop de doop
What the fuck is his problem? I'm surprised how almost everyone ignored the GZ intro.

Attached: His name is not Snake.jpg (1280x720, 74K)

It was just a character bio in the game's manual. Instead of being born in the 1920's, he's born in 1935, so he's a decade younger in MGS3. And instead of losing an eye in the 1980's, which was the original cause for his retirement and founding of FOX HOUND, he loses it in 1964 during Operation Snake Eater.

No, Metal Gear 1 and 2 are three decades old and irrelevant.

Metal Gear 2 was literally the backstory for MGS1. You can't have MGS1 without MG2.

I don't think rewriting the Metal Gear games was a big deal

Why does a character's name triggers so much autism? Big Boss has always been referred to as Snake in the prequel games, because he's a legacy character.

All the news sites reporting the change from Hayter to Kiefer were saying that "Snake's voice actor was replaced". Only nitpicky nerds were going "Ashctually he's BiBo."

Big Boss is Kojima's soulmate of this decade. He broke up with Solid Snake by ditching him in MGS4 and insisting on labeling Big Boss "Snake" in every further prequel to convey the statement that he thinks that Big Boss is more worthy of being "Snake" than Solid Snake (who he created first, mind you).

You make that eye losing thing sound like a big deal actually, retconning important stuff is always bad, but I don't really know. If they were only on a manual then it certainly wouldn't seem like a big issue.

I mean the plot is cool but the gameplay is pure garbage.

They're interchangeable you stupid

>Only nitpicky nerds were going "Ashctually he's BiBo."
Here, let me lecture you. Learn for god fucking sake.
Yea Forums when referring to Big Boss in Ground Zeroes always calls him "Big Boss". This is because the real Snake is Solid Snake, NOT BIG BOSS.

I don't care if TPP's script says otherwise, I choose to deny it, even if it's the truth, because it's so outrageous.
Solid Snake is Metal Gear 1's protagonist. Therefore, once again, Solid Snake is THE REAL SNAKE. Apparently, Kojima forgot this and decided to go willy nilly.

It was the first instance of Kojima rewriting his old games to suit his current needs, which a lot of people complained about in PW and V. A lot of people always bring up Null against Portable Ops for contradicting Gray Fox's Vietnam War orphan origin in Metal Gear 2, but Master Miller being Big Boss's 2nd-in-command in PW and V makes even less sense.

Tell that to Kojima. He's the one forcing a Legacy Character trope since MGS3.

>interchangeable
No, they're not. Who would dare call Big Boss "Snake" by the time he operates Zanzibar Land? Absolutely fucking NO ONE.

Ocelot, miller, and the gang can call him snake if they want. They were comrades before that. Literally everyone on Mother Base calls him Boss.

-r.

Seethe more.

>Who would dare call Big Boss "Snake" by the time he operates Zanzibar Land? Absolutely fucking NO ONE.
He wasn't Solid Snake's clone daddy yet when they made the MSX games.

>I choose to deny it, even if it's the truth, because it's so outrageous.
>TRUTH BAD LIES GOOD LOL
Recognizing facts? Good.
Refusing them, going back speaking out of feelings? Bad.
Amerimutts, everyone.

>standing on top of phone books
yikes

I'd rather see that BB origin stuff in a well written and fun game instead of a paragraph in a game manual.

The only reason why Snake's called "Big Boss" in TPP is because
>Snake is one word, just "Snake"
>Venom Snake is two, "Venom" and "Snake"
>However, Venom Snake is the protagonist, not Snake
>This creates a problem. Many refer to the protagonist in general as "Snake"
>And "Snake and Snake" is nonsensical and ludicrous
>If Snake had one more word in his name (i.e. Master Snake), it would be easy to distinguish him and the protagonist (Venom Snake). Using the same example, "Snake and Master".
>Naked Snake only lasted two CIA missions, it wasn't supposed to be used afterwards, so it wouldn't make sense to call Snake "Naked Snake" in terms of context that is chronologically after Snake Eater

Food for thought.

Why did they dropped the "Naked" from "Naked Snake" after MGS3 anyway? I'm guessing he's no longer "Naked", since he actually starts Peace Walker with a rifle, but still not embracing the Big Boss name when he's supposed to be a mercenary leader was stupid.

Attached: 024.jpg (1200x1663, 286K)

>I'm guessing he's no longer "Naked"
>since in Peace Walker he starts with a rifle
Pretty much that's the reason why.

I don't want to make a big deal about it, but Big Boss not just calling himself Big Boss in PW and GZ was stupid. Kojima wants to force a legacy character meme for MGS, but it makes no sense since the whole series only spans six decades. It's not like the Legend of Zelda, where there's centuries between games.

Attached: 025.jpg (1200x1663, 305K)

>All these dimwits
Big Boss does not become the Boss until Operation Intrude N313. Whenever the Boss surfaces, it's goal to immediately take the Snake down. The Snake, thus, has to immediately take the Boss down.
Since (You), never attempted to take Big Boss down, and [for double the assurance] Big Boss never attempted to take (You) down, it is clear that Big Boss between 1984-1994 is still the Snake. Solid Snake at that time was, metaphorically, training to prepare for the day that he would become the Snake.

To go back to the original point, once Big Boss sought to kill Solid Snake, Big Boss and (You) became Bosses, or rather [to comply with The Boss' statement], as one [together, in a homogenous manner], the Boss.

What The Boss said, she was actually and merely describing the logic that all video games with a boss follow.

Good post.

Naked Snake
The Boss

Solid Snake
Big Boss

It makes sense.

>"The first photo shows the medic with his balaclava on. The second photo, which was taken just after the first, shows the player with the balaclava off."
>"the medic" and "the player" are interchangeably used to describe in the script to label the Medic. In other words, the Medic is directly you
>literal, Venom is me despite showing signs of having his own character
Kojima is a hack, hackity hackity hack. This writing of his is so bad that it's comparable to the writing in Death Stranding, which is, surprise not surprise, being written by Kojima. Tons of video games incorporated player self inserts better than him. Fuck him, here's to hoping that Death Stranding F L O P S.

Attached: 1565295460011.jpg (310x232, 14K)

The gameplay is literally the same as the base game but without the radar

Yes, that's the point my post was basically trying to make. Are you trying to agree with it?
By the time of Operation Snake Eater, The Boss becomes the Boss, as she surfaces to take down John. John consequently becomes the Snake, as he has to take her down.

By the time of Operation Intrude N313, John becomes the Boss, as he surfaces to take down David. David consequently becomes the Snake, as he has to take him down.

(You) are a phantom of John, his shadow. Once again, (You) and John are de facto, homogeneous, representing one. Whether (You) are the Snake or the Boss in a given period of time depends on whether John is the Snake or the Boss in said period.

>better than V*
Fixed.
>John
>David
Ew

Big Boss is a title, remember that. Plus, saying Snake instead of John would be too confusing when I'm also mentioning Solid Snake.

>all this talk about a "script"

Basically the main script for MGSV but also in English and Taiwanese.

>All these autistic details that no gamer and consiprator would ever pay attention to
This leak is definitely real, time to get my brain raped after years of 500+ million posts from idiots discussing the game being shoved up my ass.

I like how it revealed that Julie Dazinger was Dr. Strangelove's friend.

if he's the reason why it was good, why hasn't he written any more games since then? you'd think he'd be highly in demand.

Japanese devs in general are far, far better at marketing themselves. For Western devs, the development studio and/or publisher are the ones marketed and pushed into public consciousness.

OK
>story done JP first like always, only voices were done EN first
>Big Medic is 100% me (wtf)
>Big Boss actually cared for getting revenge, he's the one who angered Shota mantis, not me (this changes everything)
>Robo pinky (wtf) cut
>The nurse was dialing Zero (makes sense)
>The malfunctioning garbage after nurse says "V has come to" was the iDroid saying the same line (wtf)
>"Formal question(s) Business-like and emotionless"
>"We have kept with male pronouns for the player, as requested." (LOL)
>"Ishmael-like patient" (lol)
>as others said, Big Boss is called Snake and the real Snake in character field/comments instead of Big Boss for prologue/Truth (wtf, the credits for the same part in the game do the opposite)
>Quiet actually knew who "the real Snake" was and was thus coming to kill him, not me (big wtf)
>"Ishmael is very thin" (more like he has Kaz's well fit healthy limbs in the game, either asset reuse or Kojima just being crazy, thinking that "normal = very thin" and "huge = normal")
>"The superior officer shows concern for his subordinate." ("the real Snake" still cared deeply for his comrades, how sweet, but also big wtf)
>The "digoxin" is actually epinephrine because lolgreece and it's a Pulp Fiction reference (digoxin = epinephrine + Pulp Fiction = adrenaline, long story short it's adrenaline)
I'll need to read more of it later, I'm getting raped too much

>(more like he has Kaz's well fit healthy limbs in the game, either asset reuse or Kojima just being crazy, thinking that "normal = very thin" and "huge = normal")
What autism, but I'm also intrigued
Does the "Ishmael" model really have Miller's physique?

It's such a shame it doesn't include any Ground Zeroes content. Apparently the Paz sub-story was originally a bonus for completing Ground Zeroes.

where is he? did he just disappear off the face of the earth? was he killed by yakuza? did he know too much? can we start a operation to find this guy or find out what happened to him? i hope he's ok...
>inb4 not your personal army

He's doing QA work for Sony's Japan Studios division for a while now.

He's no longer need the code name "Naked Snake" because he was given a new one; Big Boss. Using the name Snake after MGS3 makes no sense since everybody refer him as Big Boss in Metal Gear 1

Snake basically became the defacto name for the MGS protagonist from MGS3 and onward after Raiden failed to take off. It's basically Kojima trying to push the idea that Snake is a legacy character in the same way Link is to The Legend of Zelda. It's pretty obvious he wasn't planning on making anymore MGS prequels after MGS3 either, that's why MPO and PW has to come up with a half-hearted explanation as to why he refuses to be addressed as Big Boss.

Attached: 199.jpg (1200x1663, 353K)

This is some 2deep4u hipster shit and doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

That's why Kojima is the worst writer ever, he pushing style first over substance, it doesn't matter if it logical to use the name Snake after MGS3, he will write a workaround just to enforce the idea that BB is still Snake. Just like every supernatural in MGS series can explain through NANOMACHINES!! despite there's a literal ghost in MGS3

>le cuckshima meme

>Just like every supernatural in MGS series can explain through NANOMACHINES!! despite there's a literal ghost in MGS3
I think that was supposed to be the original explanation for Liquid Ocelot's personality, but it was changed to self-hypnosis because the Japanese voice actor for Revolver Ocelot died before they started working on MGS4, so he could no longer change voices in the Japanese version.

I highly doubt that was the actual reason

I don't see any other reason why. Kojima treats the Japanese dubs as the canon versions and the English dubs as something he makes for foreigners. When Takeshi Aono (Japanese voice of Campbell) died, he said he would retire the character from the series out of respect for the original actor, even though his English actor is still alive.

He also tweeted this about Akio Otsuka, yet he has no qualms about ditching Hayter for Kiefer.
