I think it's kind of bullshit that they go to the trouble of having him be disinterested in the tournament at first, only to agree when Belmod tells him that he can get "any wish" granted by the Super Dragonballs, and we never figure out what he wanted. That's actually an interesting rationale for somebody on his level of strength, but nothing's done with it.

Is not as mind blowing when you look at the context of the time. In all honestly, even if you are not a fan of DB, the story as to how was first transmited in Cartoon Network, and how it's popularity, and Anime's popularity in general, grow in the west, is pretty interesting. In short, it has much to do with it's timing, but still, Dragon Ball, with all it's problems, was still really revolutionary for it's time, and the manga it's kind of brilliant when you stop to evaluate the panel composition and the general art.

But going back to Toriyama, what you said of character Desing, and story outlines was what he was doing just before. Some Movie or Videogame character here and there, maybe some plot ideas. Evolution's outrage, and Battle of Gods hype was what pull him back in. Battle of Gods has an original script very different as to what he got, with Beerus being just another Movie villain on Broly's and Cooler's tier, but with a bigger number, but Toriyama got fully involved, and he expand upon it. The quality may be all over the place, but he finally got the motivation to work again on this story.

In any case, even if it didn't ended as he intended (I honestly wonder what was his original plan with Gero as the main antagonist... if he ever thought that far), it's clear the story was meant to continue after Frieza, if anything to end Gohan's storyline.

Granted, we can debate all day whatever or not the Buu saga was a good idea or not. It has some of my favorite moments, but again, it drops the ball so hard so many times... and the Cell saga was kind of a nice ending at the time.

They're in the Ginyu Force because they 1. are loyal to Ginyu and thus Frieza, and 2. have some unique skill or role to play in the team. Recoome is a bruiser, Guldo stops time, Burter is fast, Jeice is 2nd-in-command and a team player. Ginyu himself probably wasn't born exceptionally strong; I completely believe that the body we know as Ginyu's was one of multiple he took with Body Change over the years.

Black/Zamasu are self aware, but in a good way. Everyones call him out, or flat out ignores his JRPG Final Boss BS, but they still take him seriously as a thread. And he acknowledge that nobody cares about his personal Drama, but he doesn't care bacause "Lowly Mortals can't simply understand me, so why bother?". Again, it's self aware in a good way, because both parties act as they should, the main cast doesn't give him special treatment, and he doesn't cares.

The whole arc is a mess for how the "mystery" is handle, plus the time travels paradox all over the place, but I still think it's at equals ground with the Buu saga. IT's high moments aren't as hype as the one in Buu's, but as a balance, Buu's low moments are far worst than the ones in the Future Trunks arc.

It's not about the retcon itself, it's about the fact that they don't matter without it. Piccolo, Kami, and Freeza to an extent were all tied into the story without that. Gero and 19 on the other hand come from Red Ribbon which makes no fucking sense outside some loose idea with Eighter and has absolutely no significance since they were all a fucking joke compared to someone like Freeza who's directly intertwined with Goku.

Although is never stated anywhere I have a theory, kid Trunks and Goten can transform into super saiyans by default because their parents conceived them after achieving the transformation. Notice how future Trunks and Gohan have to achieve this through hard work. Probably future Vegeta didn't achieve the transformation before he fucked Bulma, because Goku was dead, he didn't have the motivation to transform and he didn't know that the androids were coming.

There is a datamine going on of at least 4 new characters coming up after Gogeta and Super Broly. Is weird that's only four, but I guess it goes along with each season losing two characters each, and maybe saving some for Fighterz 2 eventually (Thought I think that if they want to continue this franchise in the future, they may need to tap into the Heroes/Xenoverse canon eventually, if they want to get more characters to add)

Still, assuming we are getting at least 4 characters, I think Kefla is almost a sure thing, with how much demand she gets every single time (from the base roster, to both seasons so far), she also covers for both Saiyan girls, and leave them both a separate characters for the possible sequels. From there... I also think a GT villain is almost a sure thing, to make for a rival to GT Goku, though I couldn't say if they would pick Baby or Omega Shenron for that, it's a matter of taste there, but I would bet for Omega Shenron personally.

The last two are anyone's guess. If it's for movies, I would think Bojack it's next in the pipeline, over Tapion, Slug Garlick Jr and Turles. As for more Gokus... I think UI Goku won the race to SSJ4 Goku on this one. Again, there is a lot of characters they may be saving up for sequels, but there are still in time to get some sell of the UI hype, even if it's already kind of old news at this point.

Some pipedreams of mine would be King Piccolo, Jacco or Bulma in an ironman suit, but again, we seem to be up for a short final season, so I doubt we get weird picks like Videl this time.

If I remember the line correctly (which, mind you, I am coming from the Latim dub, so who knows what it change) I did understand that the process to punish and then clean Vegeta's soul would very much erase all his memories, and concept of who he is, very much like what Uub is to Kid Buu (Though, he skipt the process to clean his soul at Goku's request, which would explain how he retains part of his power, even as an human).

Right now, I want to believe that Super's concept of Hell, with Frieza in that cocoon, even if it whas his own personal Hell, it's kind of symbolic of this process, with the idea being that Frieza would eventually emerge as a new being. Though I may be given the writing to much credit.

Also, funny enogh, there is a "canon" heaven in the manga, even if we never got to see it. Dabura was indeed send to heaven in the manga, because hell wouldn't have effect on him, though contrary to the anime, the manga never shows what happen to him there. Funny thing, Beerus only order that in America. It's a localization change, in the orignal he just comments that he wanted to destroy planet Vegeta himself for how rude Saiyans were, but was to lazy to do so, and was glad Frieza did it on his own, even if he hated Frieza's guts, and wanted to destroy him now. Nobody knows why Localization made that change, maybe was an honest mistake in the translation.

The original japanese dub. The general idea is that Beerus was aware Frieza wanted to Destroy planet Vegeta, and he allows it cause he hates king Vegeta, but the planet is to far away for him to bother to do so, even though he also hates Frieza, and wants to destroy him eventually.

None the less, there is no mention of him giving Frieza the order to destroy the planet, and later appearances of Frieza, both in the movies and the anime, stay true to Frieza's backstory of destroying planet Vegeta on his own will, without any input of Beerus. With the Broly movie remind it us that it was a last minute decision, after gathering intel on the Super Saiyan legends.

I just looked at the sub and it says he "authorized" it, meaning he may or may not have had ulterior motives.

Sayians tend to get stronger being around each other.
Goku and Vegeta got together and both starting skyrocketing in power from then on while Gohan was essentially dragged along by Goku and Piccolo.
Goten and Trunks benefited from growing up around Vegeta and Gohan and Piccolo and being raised so close to each other.

Main drawback for human/sayian hybrids are they lack the love of fighting and getting stronger like pure blood sayians

All my respects to Dr. Slum, but Arale wasn't part of the "anime revolution" on the late 90s early 2000s. We can argue about the over all quality of Dragon Ball all the day, but it's impact in popular media is not up for debate.

Honestly, I am fine with both Brolys, and I think both of them still work for Videogames. Of course, Xenoverse, Heroes and such work with all the canons at the same time, and Fighthez doesn't seem to care with having both. I think most fan don't mind either.

For RPGs and Adventure games like this one (which there aren't that many), I guess the canon they choice from is more important, but even those can have both Brolys, if OG Broly (Or even both of them) are side, optional quests, almost what ifs. After all, all the old Movie villains were What Ifs to begins with, so there isn't much of a problem.

If this game truly will cover just until the Cell games, and not much else, I think OG Broly would be a perfect Secret Boss, but I surely would't mind seeing more of the Battle with new Broly in the future.

Is mostly Namco, they seem to do in each new game from a while now, even before FightheZ with 21 (Towa is underrated among the general fandom), but still, Toriyama doesn't mind. His problem is writing women, not drawing them. I still think he has always have, and still have, to tier female character designs.
