Apparently Ash was going to be in MK11 but was dropped for Joker at the last minute. This is going off of leaked info and an ad that didn't get the memo and blatantly said Ash Williams was in the game.

i think i heard it from the castle super beast podcast. there was stuff in the works and things were getting worked on before the last stages of approval were approved. like things were getting worked on before ash's reveal in both the development and the marketing sides but for some reason those final stages of approval were never signed off on (idk if the reason was brought up) and time kept passing so then they decided to go with joker - which could've been for a number of reasons. wb publishing the game could've already had a tie-in deal with netherealm to have joker in the game linked with the movie's upcoming release, but with the ash deal falling through i can see why they'd release him early if what i brought up was the case, "well you have to release something so the game can make more money sooner, so just finish up the joker and release him in ash's place"

This. Fujin and Sheeva were also leaked back with the rest, back when Ash was leaked along with Joker, Terminator, Spawn, Sindel, and Nightwolf. We've seen 6 of these if you include Shang Tsung who was known already. Ash is missing, true, but so are Sheeva and Fujin. Kombat Pack 2 is almost certainly going to happen next year.
