>40 hours on record
I absolutely love this game, but have some minor nitpicks with it
40 hours on record
I'd trust that over the negative reviews with 0.1 hours played.
>Review made 5 months ago
>600 hours on record, 30 hours on record in the past two weeks
>Thumbs down
>"This game was excellent until you patched this one thing, now it fucking sucks, I'm holding this thumbs down here until you patch it back to how I want it. Your move, devs."
It's usually a patch that fucked up or changed something.
(reddit spacing)
For the most part negative reviews are the most well writen and redacted, I even enjoy reading them unless the positive ones( copy paste colum, free product ad, meme, etc).
I always read the negative reviews first because the positive ones always suck the game's cock. Then I decide if I want to pirate or not based on the iq and number of people saying bad things about the game.
I have hundreds of hours in multiple MP games I wouldn't recommend because they are dead as shit and the only people still playing are uber neckbeards like myself that will turn them to paste
this.
Hell I'll trust the opinion of anyone who can tell me exactly why they dislike something over someone who just says "I like it :)"
>Over 850 hours in GTA Online
Fuck Rockstar games jews
please rate mine
i always read the negative reviews, they are usually the most down to earth reviews and even saying positive shit oddly enough, it just usually mean a game lacks something or just have a bad development trail
I'd venture to guess most people who read reviews are debating whether or not to purchase a game
Half of this uses terminology that only people who played the game would understand, or at least get the most out of
Also a bit wordy for a review, try to break up paragraphs more
Overall not bad tho
thank you
It still hurts...
I wish there was a 3rd neutral rating since sometimes something has good aspects but has other shit weighing it down.
you have to experience it to talk convincing shit about it
This shit had so much potential. I remember playing it for days on end with my friends. We were all so excited to see where the game would go when they finished it and added more content. Goddamn it.
>search for porn game on steam
>99.99% of them are visual novel trash
How the fuck do find good porn games like Illusion's?
tl:dr
If you can't keep it short you haven't understood the game.
Fuck Planetside 2, I fucking hate this fucking game and I recommend no one play it. This is not an attempt at reverse psychology, the game is fucking garbage. Runs like shit, plays like shit, the playerbase are cancerous salty vets that hate the game yet still can't stop playing it, like me. Fuck I hate it so fucking much.
Here
I played Dead Realms for at least 25 hours. A hide and sneak game where you tried not to be noticed by ghosts. Hiding in closets, behind boxes, inside secret passage ways and when being found you'd have to run and create distractions.
Game patch comes out and it destroys the performance where everyone is lagging every three seconds and crashes. Game doesn't get updated for like a year. Then it gets an update, adds guns, and becomes something else and the devs abandon the game right after.
Would you want me to give a thumbs up, OP?
The same way you find anything on steam, look for good developers and check the reviews. 99.9% of games on steam are shit, just use the same fucking skills you use to avoid the usual indie trash.
>I absolutely love this game but the developers have different political opinions to me so I am refunding.
>nazi
0/10 Hans
That's absolutely correct, to have a complete opinion on something you need to actually fully experience it, but this place is filled with people talking shit about games they've only seen their favorite streamers play.
seethe harder tranny
>(reddit spacing)
fuck off
>you have to have already wasted your money on something before you can justify not wasting your money on it
No
Steam Reviews are probably the worst review community I've ever fucking seen. Even Rotten Tomatoes review bombing movies they haven't seen ends up being a better representation.
Can we just stop fighting and figure out how to build a time machine to go back
I've made negative reviews with hundreds of hours played. Plenty of shitty remasters exist that are worse than the original version which are available on Steam for cheaper. Same for games in a series that are worse than their cheaper predecessors.
>he spends money on games
Lmao
>uses a fake screencap to prove his point
>being this much of a fucking newfag
Don't show your face ever again here.
I feel like someone should tell you, but...
You've been trolled.
I'm sorry. Sorry that you had to find out this way.
Totally legitimate. You see, the great thing about reviews is that they are opinions. Everyone is entitled to one. Nobody has to base a decisions off of one. Nobody has to look at an average number. You don't just look at the thumbs down, you look at what they write. If the guy says it's the best game he ever played, and a patch ruined something very important to him, his opinion is going to change. Maybe I buy the game anyway because I can live with the small change he hated?
>Threads can't stay up with days between posts
user, I hope you realize how many boards are on Yea Forums and that they do not all have the traffic of Yea Forums. Just look at the post numbers.
user the year number changes
thats a year between those 2 posts 11 posts apart
It's not illegitimate, it just makes you look like a dork trying to hold a positive review hostage.
The majority of users who use social features on any storefront are women, trannys, furries, and neckbeards. if it's something like Walmart or Amazon then you can also add literal 60-70 year old boomers. the rest are shills who got stuff for free, and in the past 5 years you can also add insane political radicals thinking they're fighting a culture war.
user reviews are the single most retarded feature of any website
>I really, REALLY wanted to like this game, but...
user, not every country uses a sensible date order. The screenshot uses YY/MM/DD.
Whats wrong with that opinion, wojack poster?
>Fri
>Sat
JPN uses YMD friend.
my ark review is still negative from the day they released early access dlc while simultaneously delaying the scheduled patch by a month. I have a few hundred hours on record.
not all recommendation swaps are because the devs pushed a patch they disagree with, sometimes patches are objectively bad because they introduce bugs/glitches/crashes or reduce performance to an unacceptable level
who on the fucking planet uses that order?
mm/dd/yy and dd/mm/yy i can see, but fucking yy/mm/dd?
fucking japs
>boarding never
>open world never
>playerbase never
AAAAAAAAAAH
>have fun with game, thumbs up
>patch changed something and the reviewer hates it now
>change review to thumbs down (NOT RECOMMENDED)
the recent update makes it so the reviewer wouldn't recommend the game anymore. There is nothing wrong with this.
Perfect example.
You can personally like a game and not recommend it to others. There is nothing wrong with this.
>implying there were japs or hungarians on Yea Forums in 2005
>You are not rewarded for not attacking anyone
Thats a load of shit dude. If you ghost an entire area you get like a free levels worth of exp from the ghost bonus alone.
>game is overwhelmingly positive
>new patch slightly changes something
>old players shit their pants and bomb the reviews despite new players loving it
there's no consistency in these fucking reviews
"This game is the best one I played in my life, but nobody plays multiplayer"
This one discourage other people to buy the game and play multiplayer
Google is your friend ;)

>Play Warframe to death
>Genuinely love lots of aspects of it, especially since I actually enjoy grinding in vidya
>Think about reviewing it
>Think about the constant bugs, where getting out of world, missions soft-locking because people can't open doors, menus being unselectable, and many others exist 24/7
>Think about market pricing, where starter gear like the Hogake is sold for a shit load of plat, but end-game frames and weapons are way lower
>Think about how it takes hours upon hours to even get another frame, with a 3 day wait when crafting
>Think about how features/weapon balance comes and goes, like fucking Lunaro or how a lot of weapons feel jank because there's no longer quick melee and you have to do full combos
>Think about how the game as a whole has little to no end-game, with the normal grind being tedious wave/defense missions with noting of note besides mindlessly cutting through swathes of trash enemies who run into walls
I love Warframe and have played it for hundreds of hours. But I would never recommend it to the average person. I'd sing its praises, but as a whole mark it as a negative review. Just because you've played a lot of a game doesn't mean you'd recommend it to the average consumer.
10k people aren't going to crawl out of the woodwork in the vain chance that all of those people are going to buy the game and revitalize the servers
chances are if the game is dead it's going to stay dead no matter what
I think it's a trigger phrase.
This is me with Hat in Time. Specifically the constant shitty doggo memes they use to market the game makes me hate everything about it that isnt the actual game itself.
>the post
>your head
>Game was good
>Now it's shit
>Wow dude think of the devs why are you making your recommendation on whether I should buy it based on how it is now?
Ive only left 3 reviews out of the 50 games I own and it was because the people leaving bad reviews i felt were focusing on stuff that imo didnt really capture whatever the game was about. Its spirit if you will. I have also left 2 joke reviews which upwards of 9 people found funny or helpful.
God I wish the lag in that wasn't always fucking terrible. Such a good idea, and shockingly well executed for how small the dev is.
There are loads of games I like but could not in good faith recommend to the average normie. Grim Fandango or Papers Please for example.
>How can you hate the game you’ve put thousands of hours into?
You can't NOT have an opinion on something. You either liked it or you didn't. You're not a teacher grading a paper, you're giving a subjective impression. Make up your mind.
It's pass/fail dude, what games have you played where it's unreasonable to ask "Am I glad I bought this, or not"
Personally I hate reviews that end with a like/dislike or a score out of 10. There shouldn't be a TL;DR for a 3 paragraph review.
There's more subtlety than "you liked it or you didn't" as is apparent with all these steam reviews that have a huge list of pros and cons but are forced to go full in one way or another
>You either like it or you didn't
Or you can accept that you don't know enough about something to make a decision one way or another. I could name off a bunch of games you never played and it's not like you'd be able to tell me whether you liked it or didnt.
On the topic of game reviews in particular though, you can like a game and not recommend it to people, or recommend it only if the person desires something specific. Having only a thumbs up or thumb down be the first thing a person sees can fuck with that.
There are objective qualities of the game you can grade like the amount of graphical options available, the quality and responsiveness of the interface, the quality of sound and the art assets used and its performance on hardware that exceeds recommended specs. You can take that "everything is subjective" and stick it right up your ass.
If I like a game solely because it has a mode where I shove a stick up my ass and spin dinner plates on it, it would be preferable to say
>only buy this game if you enjoy sticking things up your ass
instead of having to thumb up or thumb down it and have that be the only thing most people look at.
>less than 5 hours played
>not even 10% of achievements
>"highly recommend! best game ever!"
You don't understand the point of the user recommendations then, and you think you're giving a scientific analysis. If there was a neutral score available, I'm sure every single review you posted would use it, and your comments would be nigh-useless to the people who are actually looking for a consensus. Did you like it? Did you personally like it? Thumbs up. If you say, "Well... it had promise, but-" then the answer is no. You didn't like it. Thumbs down.
If the game is objectively good, then I guess you must have liked it enough to give it a thumbs up. Why would you need to qualify it in that case?
>I only an hour in this game but it's amazing!
>I can't wait to play it again!
>posted 2 years ago, time didn't increase
have you guys seen reviews for old games?
literal zoomers putting 3 hours into old and shit and write fuckign essays on why its the best so they can feel cool before going back to fornite
pathetic
quake titles are specifically bad for this
Well maybe they shouldn't pretend to listen to feedback and then block all walls of communication or ignore everyone. They can ignore reviews just like anyone else can.
>using steam
fuck steam
> I can't run this on my PC
> It won't start
> Negative review
>I'm sure every single review you posted would use it, and your comments would be nigh-useless to the people who are actually looking for a consensus
That's braindead. It fucks up the consensus to have someone with an obviously mixed review have to flip a coin and go all-in. By your logic someone who absolutely loves a game is the same as someone who has tons of gripes with the game but feels like it's just barely worth buying. A 'mixed' option would be way more representative of what the general opinion is
Number reviews shouldn't be a thing to people anymore. Metacritic is either 0s or 10s.
user, don't tell me that's a review for Half-Life.
Same.
I look for negative reviews first to see what sort of problems people are having.
It reads to me like you're the one who does not understand the point of a "user recommendation"
>Did you like it? Did you personally like it? Thumbs up.
Me personally liking does not mean I RECOMMEND it for others. That's what you need qualifications for. I even gave you examples in which you failed to acknowledge.
One could RECOMMEND a game, only if they have already played another one. One could enjoy a game but RECOMMEND they buy the cheaper, better version of it that is also available on Steam. One could enjoy a game but RECOMMEND a reader only buy it if they enjoy something very specific.
Do I need to spell it out to you any further? How could you even think to say
>You don't understand the point of the user recommendations
then follow it up with
>Did you like it? Did you personally like it? Thumbs up
That is not a recommendation.
>want to replay Deus Ex HR
>get to the missing link dlc area
Childhood is hating higby. Adulthood is realizing he was the only competent one.
yeh half life has a quite lot of zoomers trying to hard to be based
>1893 hours on record.
>87 in last two weeks.
Awful game. No endgame and 20 dollars is to much for this game. Would refund by steam wouldn't take it! Stupid devs!
>Game has mixed reviews
>most of the complaints are technical issues
>"Don't what everyone's complaining about, works on my machine."
>*Thumbs Up*
>not owning the original version
pleb
We should switch to a letter grading like the US education system.
nice blog fag
way too long
>If the game is objectively good, then I guess you must have liked it enough to give it a thumbs up. Why would you need to qualify it in that case?
Because reducing the grading of things to GOOD/BAD is anti-intellectual. It's why you have this shitty fucking internet outrage culture dominating everything today with mobs and witchhunts constantly on the prowl for BAD things to get rid of. It's a direct byproduct of this kind of way of thinking.
>just because the resolution is fucked, there are unfixable audio issues and i've crashed to desktop a few times doesn't mean the game isn't great
>people just like to complain
>recommended
The problem I have with this is: The casual user has no programming knowledge and generally doesn't know shit about what they are talking about. At the end of the day implementing is what makes something happen not the demands.
It's passive aggressive as fuck.
you must be one of a hella butthurt developer LMAO
>Game is 50% off
Review: I bought this game at full price and now it is on sale I am mad. I was going to recommend this game but now that it's cheaper than what I bought it for it's trash.
itt retards with poor english larping as game reviewers
your opinion is completely worthless, stop wasting your time with the blogs
cool story bro
Reviews are meaningless to me, as I do not trust the majority of consumers to be able to evaluate an entire game correctly when they may not even have explored half of it.
>DIS GAME SUX
>9348904823905723489 marked this review as helpful
Is that a bad thing?
You can knock out everyone and still get the Ghost XP bonus
I've seen threads on slow boards that are from 2 years ago or more
get out reddit
we've already concluded im a moron but that isn't a correct argument
what board has ever gotten 12 posts a year
/l/
prove it
in the early days the slow boards were even slower.
8ch is down
