To those who've completed the original version:

This looks fun and worth playing, though is it worth $60?
If yes/no why?

It's a fantastic game but a short one, shouldn't take more than ten hours on a first playthrough. If you're fine with that, by all means get it, otherwise wait for a sale.

is the "make your own dungeon, sort of" the only big new thing so far that we know of

I haven't played the original since it came out when I was a kid. I remember really liking it and I'm definitely interested in this version, but not for more than say $40. Might be worth more for someone coming in fresh, but I'm not really even sure about that.

The original game is worth playing right now. Just go play it. You can complete it in a day. Then you can decide if you want to buy the remake.

I personally haven't seen anything of the remake that makes me feel it's necessary. The change to 3D graphics kills the charm of the original game. And the redone music in the trailer is horrible. But most of all, the original game is still good as is, so it didn't need a remake.

Zelda 2 is really the only game that needs a remake.

>The change to 3D graphics kills the charm of the original game
No
>Zelda 2 is really the only game that needs a remake.
Yes. I was very disappointed when they said this was the last remake they had planned. Wished they would have at least knocked out the Oracles games at the same time. But LoZ2 really needs it the most

>No
Yes, it really does. It's like saying the DS Zelda games are just like the classic games. But the 3D makes movement and everything different, despite the overhead view. And they're doing the same with this game. But more than that, the whole Puppet/Claymation/whatever it's trying to be changes it even more.

>The change to 3D graphics kills the charm of the original game.
Agree 100% with this. I know I'll get shit for it but the look of the game just doesn't look right or good to me. Like you said, I can just go play the original again (which I have) and get the same experience. Nothing about the remake makes me want to go and pick it up.

It’s definitely not worth the $60. I got the original for my 3DS on the Nintendo eshop for less than $10.

If you haven't played it already, absolutely. LA built on the games that preceded it and started a lot of what became series standards later. It stuck a good balance between "the overwold is annoying and dangerous to navigate" from the LoZ and "the overworld is safe and trivally easy" from ALttP. The dungeons are fun and each have good flow. It basically just the standard Zelda formula of "8 dungeons and get upgrades that unlock the next dungeon" done really well.

Grezzo hackjob shite

>Wished they would have at least knocked out the Oracles games at the same time.
Considering there were no plans for Majora's Mask 3D when OoT3D came out, I'm sure they could make the Oracle games in the Link's Awakening Switch engine if the game is a success. It'd really just be swapping out the maps and implementing a few new items. They could be cheap budget titles to fill a game near the end of the Switch's life like how we got the Mario&Luigi remakes using the Dream Team and Paper Jam engines.

That's why remakefags make me irrationally angry. For what ever reason they just refuse to ever play the original, just for the sake of appealing to zoomerism, even though these games are fucking short.

>worth $60
absolutely not, specially when the original is still easily available
I think I'll still buy it though, LA is one of my favorite games, easily on the top 50
if you've never played it I'd recommend playing LA DX for the GBC on whatever emulator, it's a great game, if you've already played it then you can probably decide wether this is worth its price by watching videos of it

It's fun and worth playing, but as for the price, I wouldn't pay more than 20 dollars.

When it comes down to it, I don't feel like it warrants $60 when item buttons are the only change that I like.

I expected it to be 40 and I still thought that was too high. It's a good game though, just really short unless they changed something

it IS not worth it, it's just because I've got plenty of money to spare and I love LA
this situation, to me, is very similar to Wind Waker HD, I like it, but the original is better to me (in WW's case, emulated in 1080/4k)

>$60 for a 20 years old game
This ain't it chief.

Hey buttboy, played the OG GB version around when it came out and this doesn't ruin shit. Controls look to be an improvement, and while the new artstyle (as with any, including the original) is subjective, claiming it "kills the charm" of the original is a stupid thing to say because 1. the original still exists, and 2. it is, again, subjective. Granted I'm not going to pay $60 for this, but if it cost what the original cost when it came out (which assuming ~$30 with inflation would be ~$53), I'd easily take this one over the original. But they don't exist in a vacuum, so why not enjoy both?

>these games are fucking short.
I don't think this game is worth 60, but judging games on their length alone is stupid

its good but 60 bucks is a rip off

i remember the original version was a little short. be warned. other than that it was good game for me, not worth 60 bucks though, wait for a sale, its totally worth 40.

>they said this was the last remake they had planned

When did they say this?

Can you post the dungeons you make online?

I'm excited for it since I'm a pirate and there are too many long JRPGs coming out. Astral Chain, Links Awakening and other shorter games are very welcome.

It feels completely pointless since it doesn't add anything to the base game. Forget everything else, it can't get around that fact just like all the other Zelda remakes since most of the changes are cosmetic only.

>Nintendo
>Sale
Lol

LA is my favorite game but I don't think this is worth $60 unless rhe side mode(s) are sick as hell. It's the kind of game you can beat in a day or two.
Here's hoping for brand new minigames like this one
youtube.com/watch?v=quhYVbMtBIY

It might be worth it if the dungeon builder was a more fleshed out concept, but I imagine only being able to place already-existing rooms isn't nearly as interesting as it could be.

>The change to 3D graphics kills the charm of the original game.
The original is one of my favorite games and I don't see how. Original looks like any other GB game really. Nostalgia is crazy sometimes.

I am definitely going to buy it, but in no way is it worth $60.
I'll buy it second hand at $35/$40.

Link's Awakening looks far better than most GB games. As for why it kills the charm, it's because a lot of the charm is tied to the "weaker" graphics. They were able to make Link comparable to the SNES on a platform 1/8th as powerful. It's much like Metroid II or Mario Land 2, which produce similar reactions from people.

Though it is true, this only kicks in for those who played Link's Awakening on GB first. If someone plays the Switch remake first, it'll probably have the opposite effect.

that old lady is annoying as shit.
the game looks decent i guess, but it somehow doesnt feel right, is not really LA or a reimagining of it, it doesnt "click" the same way.

At least they let the phone house and even the dialogue unchanged.

Zelda Maker when

Attached: 1421807722197.jpg (300x375, 28K)

Actually thought the same shit but recently my PC fudged up and while waiting for parts to get in I started playing my switch for the first time and there's actually been quite a bit of discounts here and there.

Game is 30 dollars at most

>70 dollars for Dreamer Edition
>includes book
Fuck that

The game is a great and I loved it on GB and GBC but it's really short even for a Zelda game so I don't think it's worth $60. I'd wait for a sale.

Zelda 2 is great even if it's way different. If you haven't played it since you were little then go back and give it another try.

having its own dedicated button for shield and jump is a fucking travesty
game ruined

I've played Zelda 2 almost every year since I was a kid. I'm quite familiar with it. But while I like it far more than most people do, it still clearly has things that needs polishing. Off screen enemies can still throw projectiles at you, the bug where enemies can flip to the other side of the screen, the problem where enemies can't be damaged if they're right on the edge of the screen, enemies spawn right on the edge of the screen...you see a pattern here? In Zelda 2, you basically need to draw enemies away from the edge of the screen all the time. They also need to improve Link's sword range and movement, as enemies have far better movement. While keeping the difficulty the same.

Aside from these mandatory things, they could improve the overall design and look of the game immensely. I'd also like new 2D Action/Platformer Zelda games. But Nintendo won't make any new 2D Zelda games at all. Even their remakes and sequels of 2D games get put into 3D. It's frustrating.

Attached: zeldaboobsd.jpg (1120x630, 399K)

How are the dungeon? Comparable to Oracle of and LTTP ones or much simpler?

I still think Nintendo is hiding something about the game

completed the original years ago and is one of my fav zeldas, but i don't think it's worth $60, but i rarely buy games at launch anyway, recent exceptions were sekiro and mario maker 2. and soon to be death stranding.
glad i managed to hack my switch so i'll be enjoying this at launch tho, looks super comfy.

Attached: Marin_Artwork.png (476x590, 417K)

I'd personally like to see a fleshed out Zelda 2 in 3D considering it's probably the hugest game in the franchise.

comparable to Oracles, not difficult, not too easy. Just fine.

No and it doesn't even look worth playing in any sense. It's got a horrid Depth of Field filter to give you a hand held view of your surroundings. Link moves like he's a fucking lego piece. Everything is slow ass shit, when the original had very smooth movement. Dumbed down content all around, every single mini game was made instead for retards, because apparently modern children have no timing and can't figure out how a crane game works.

Don't play it, it's insulting your intelligence, which is sad to see after BotW did the exact opposite and let you fuck up.

It's just so bare bones. It really should have added more, especially at the price point. Even a master quest that just remixed the dungeons would have gone a long way. As his it's hard to justify, especially when I can play the original on my switch as is

Honestly, this game is not worth $60 but it seems like this game is going for a more kid friendly vibe compared to BotW which in that sense, Nintendo nailed it. Parents and kids don't know any better and will happily buy it for $60. It probably will end up being one of the switch's best selling games.

Your assuming the game is just a 1:1 remake with no extra content?

I havent been led to believe otherwise

God no. This right here is why Nintendo will only make 3D Zelda games. It needs to remain a 2D Action/Platformer, since that's what made it unique. Remaking it into 3D basically just makes it like any Zelda game.

It also wouldn't get that kind of remake because it would cost as much as making a whole new game.

Considering how awful the original along with the worst cast of characters to ever exist, I’m surprised people are deluding themselves into thinking this remake will be anything better.

You’re better off playing Sly, Spyro, or Crash.

I've never played a top down Zelda and this will be my first. I have no interest in going back and playing the old ones when I have this one with better visuals and control scheme and I am experiencing the story and puzzles for the first time.

For me this seem like it's worth the price they're asking but for others maybe not so much unless you need a top down Zelda fix or something

Attached: file.png (1920x1080, 1016K)

>Remaking it into 3D basically just makes it like any Zelda game.
But it doesn't, no other Zelda period has spells and the most work they'd have to put in would be reworking combat. First person Zelda 2 already exists as a proof of concept too.

No I'm saying that people could easily play the original and have nothing to lose by doing so, but instead they just pretend the old one doesn't exist because they want to spend money on a shiny new thing.

Its called dark souls desu

>and the most work they'd have to put in would be reworking combat.
Meaning...it wouldn't be like Zelda 2 at all. But they'd have to change more than just combat. Basically everything would change.

Just taking a 2D game and making it 3D while retaining all the same gameplay and design doesn't work. The few games which tried this sucked hard, like the 3D Castlevania games. When transitioning to 3D, everything has to change. Which is what we saw in Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia, etc.

>Meaning...it wouldn't be like Zelda 2 at all.
Not necessarily, a lot of the ideas were incorporated into 3D already and they could use the extra dimension for aim instead of carrying over Z/L targeting.
>Just taking a 2D game and making it 3D while retaining all the same gameplay and design doesn't work.
Like I said, First person Zelda 2 exists as a proof of concept and a pretty good one.
youtube.com/watch?v=f3ow0dZDbMM

Zelda 2 wasn't first person. Changing it to be first person means you're changing the entire game. You're proving my point.

are there more than one outfit for Link in Link’s Awakening?

>same platforming
>same combat with same enemies and same weaknesses
>a simple camera flip changes it all

I already played the DX version, I don't need another.

It's worth buying, playing in a few sittings, and then selling while it's still worth basically the same amount

Why not just pirate at that point?

>Nintendo never does sa-

Attached: f.jpg (509x691, 54K)

at the end of the colour dungeon you get to choose between Red (Attack Up) and Blue (Defence Up). I believe you can also choose neither

Attached: file.png (827x466, 445K)

user, do you know what the word "planned" means?

That guy, just chiming back in to agree with this. Played the og on the gameboy in the backseat during car trips. I hate this trend with younger gamers thinking pixels good everything else bad. A lot of the original advertisements were puppets or claymation and our imaginations filled that in. Not saying the original's artstyle isn't nice, but the overall theme of the island and the windfish and the animals are what gave it the charm. Go back to fellating Shovel Knight.

That’s what I’m thinking plus it comes out the same time as the lite?
The fucking Nintendo Switch formula man.
Put out a new system and a Zelda title then Pokémon and later animal Crossings comes out a few months later after they get sick of Pokémon

Played like a god damn fiddle

FUCK, I can't believe I missed that deal

>$60?
Absolutely not. It's a downgrade visually. I'd pay maybe $5. More if they added significant bonus dungeons at the end of the game.
Also looks like a soulless funko pop game.

This
I’m not mad at the game
I just hate I’m old and bitter now

I'd get it for $30 but it's nintendo so that'll be never.

>he's not buying it, playing through it once, and then relisting it on ebay for $50 two days after release

Its pretty cringe the way aunoma taIks about the game as if he was the onIy one who made it

Im pretty sure it was outsourced to the western company that ported OoT to the 3DS, so he probabIy newer even touched the project, at the very most he just oversaw it a bit

The original is great, enjoy your bad shitty Rudolph clay animation SOULLESS port though

Capcom fucking made it lol

i do hope so, a 1:1 remake isn't gonna cut it by today's standard, not for sixty bongs.

Yes because I want to play it and money isn't a problem for me

>using cringe as a noun
pretty cringe

I don't why they're trying to be secretive at gameplay events. People already know the story and the twist and if they don't can find out in a minute so why not just go wild and show everything you can to excite people

Attached: file.png (960x540, 726K)

They havent mentioned any online functionality. It seems like a no brainier to let people post their dungeons online, but it's Nintendo

Link's Awakening is my favorite Zelda game, but even if I'm being charitable it's less than ten hours long. I have the DX version of the game on my 3DS that I bought for like seven dollars, and this release doesn't look like it adds much of anything other than a mediocre graphics update and the most bare-bones dungeon creator imaginable. I've got enough games to play this year that I don't need to spend money on this.

user who has played Link's Awakening at least 10+ times on his original Game Boy and countless other times on emulators here. Won't spend a dime for this shit, original still holds up, no need for a 1:1 remake with """prettier""" graphics, barebones Zelda Maker and no screen transitions as its only benefits. Anyone who wastes 60 dollars on this shite instead of simply emulating the original game or the DX version is a fucking retard.

Attached: B A K A.png (1280x720, 646K)

>still have one voucher left
>considered LA, but changed my mind since I own the DX version
>can't decide between 11S or Luigi's Mansion 3
Any advice?

Attached: 1566490879376.png (210x236, 105K)

>and control scheme
The control scheme is exactly the same.

Is the color dungeon even in the remake or will they pull a Pokémon Let's Go PEe and remove everything the previous remake had added to the original (i.e. no Sevii Islands)?

voucher?

poor phrasing on my part but I'm referring to the utilisation of additional buttons on modern controllers to smooth item management. I also like the map features they've added

Play the DQ demo, it's the first chapter of the game and your save is transferable to the full game. If you like it, get it, if not, wait for Luigi's.

the game is not developed by GayFreak so probably the first one

Those digital purchase vouchers for NSO subscribers. You could buy 2 for 100 dollars, each allowing you to download a digital copy of most every Nintendo first party games and a couple third party ones, effectively saving you 20 dollars total (or the price of one year of NSO subscription). Pretty sure the deal only lasted 3 months and ended in July, and the vouchers are only valid for one year.

they did remove the photo guy but they seem to have added something which I believe may be enemy models not quite the same but still something to sink time into

the translator is cute.

I played it for the first time as a 3DS eshop download a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

I don't think by any stretch of the imagination is warrants a $60 price tag because it's essentially a gameboy game with a gameboy level of content, that being said Pokemon LGPE was successful and that had less content than the original, so perhaps that doesn't matter to most consumers.

My main concern with the remake is that the game's atmosphere really makes the original great and from what I've seen this is entirely lacking in the switch version.

Attached: 1530198824826.jpg (600x600, 712K)

You're the type of idiot who thinks Metroid Prime and Super Metroid are the exact same game. Overlooking the massive work it took Retro and Nintendo to make the transition to 3D. Not to mention how Prime lacks a bunch of Samus' skills, her movement is like a tank, the layout is changed and basically nothing is the same aside from both games having lava and water areas.

>My main concern with the remake is that the game's atmosphere really makes the original great and from what I've seen this is entirely lacking in the switch version.
This. Not only is the new style odd, but the music is the biggest factor in the original game. And those remixed music tracks are horrible.

It just feels like this game of all the Zelda games didn't need a remake.

Attached: 1362876102206.jpg (600x500, 70K)

>funko pops invented toys or bead eyes
Shut the fuck up faggot.

Grezzo is jap, stupid.
Capcom did Oracles and Minish, stupid.

I'll wait for it to drop in price in a few years when they start doing their Nintendo Selects thing. I already beat it and I don't really think Link's Awakening is worth more than 20 even if it's a great game.

>The change to 3D graphics kills the charm of the original game. And the redone music in the trailer is horrible.
This. They should've just made it look like the artwork instead of the cutesy toy style they went with, because now they're probably going to remake the Oracle games and we won't get proper 3D models of the sages. They have 2 whole franchises to make cutesy games with (kirby and yoshi) so they didnt need to fuck with zelda.

ah okay thanks

Honestly the first party Nintendo game I'm least excited about. I had four vouchers purchased and didn't even consider buying this at all honestly even though I loved the original

>we will never get a game with the original Zelda 1 art style
I usually don't care about art much. But because Zelda 1 was my favorite game, I always imagined Zelda should look like the Zelda 1 manual. And it's sad that they think Wind Waker was a 3D version of that style.

That said, I do NOT want a remake of Zelda 1. EVER. You hear me Nintendo? Never touch that game. It's perfect as it is. You already ruined Metroid II and Link's Awakening. You've done enough!

Attached: 1418093370702.jpg (1024x551, 334K)

>though is it worth $60?
I'm genuinely excited for this remake and I'm one of the few who seems to really like the art style, but no. At the end of the day it's still a Gameboy game that's been touched up and given some quality of life updates.

>You're the type of idiot who thinks Metroid Prime and Super Metroid are the exact same game.
You're the type of idiot who keeps ignoring the game being discussed and trying to generalize.

vouchers are still going, just got some

Will Grezzo and Nintendo do justice to /our gal/?

Attached: Crazy Tracy.png (480x432, 4K)

fuck you kek i just got the joke

>generalizing

That's what you did up at Changing the perspective of the game changes the platforming, combat and everything else.

The GB version is one of my favorite games ever, but I'm not impressed with this remake at all... The taste level of the music arrangments and visuals is disappointing, and it just seems unambitious and tacky. It just doesn't feel like an adequate tribute to the wonder of the original.

Still, of course it will be fun to play.

You are absolutely full of shit

I watched the Tree House for it and color dungeon was in it.

Except I didn't, there are examples of both in the video I posted which you'd know if you bothered to look at it. The enemy AI/gimmicks are the exact same and the platforming is practically the same, just a bit floaty.

I will buy it if it has a hardmode or some other features that Nintendo is hiding

The only thing the original game needed to be perfect was less messy tiling and better button mapping (obviously this problem was caused by the original Game Boy's lack of buttons, but still), and the removal of those dumb text pop ups when you so much as nudge a throwable object without the Power Bracelet equipped.

>That UI
Fucking disgusting. Did they straight up reuse the BotW font? Of all the things worth taking from BotW, UI elements were not one of them

>Dungeon maker is just premade rooms, can't edit them in any way
>Nothing else of note added
>Completely butchered the music
yeah that's a hard no

Where was the implication that it did?

I'd prefer the style of the concept art from LA and the Oracle style but I do like the zelda 1 style a lot too

Attached: linkdx_conceptart_p9rSF.jpg (747x600, 213K)

give me an Adventures of Link remake developed by IntiCreates

I pirated the original, so why not, I might buy this one full price - for both past me and current me to enjoy, I liked it enough, though I hope we'll get also Minish and both Oracle games remade too.

I remember Link's Awakening could be finished in one afternoon.
It's cute and charming, but 60 is too much for me chief.

Attached: 1435111424240.jpg (1024x717, 285K)

It's my and a lot of other hipsters favorite zelda game for a reason. It's a great game and if you've never played it before, it's absolutely worth picking up. The biggest issue it has with that price point is that it isn't a particularly long game, although it might take a person who's never played it a little longer. I've replayed it a handful of times and always enjoy it.

That being said, $60 is kind of steep. I might wait to see if I can get a cheaper copy somewhere, maybe get a used one a little while after release or something, but if you really like zelda/2d zelda and have never played this before, I think it's worth it. If it ever drops in price definitely pick it up.

>Completely butchered the music

How? Do you just not like string instruments?
youtu.be/c1C4IKadelE

chiptunes are (generally) punchy and energetic. Tal Tal Heights definitely was. I don't dislike strings but that particular composition feels neutered and lacks the same catchy, triumphant tempo of the original

You're free to like it if you want but it doesn't do it for me at all

It's a good game, but it is also pretty short. If it ever goes on sale, it will only be like $10 off, so waiting isn't going to save you much.

Attached: 1550449197849.jpg (587x464, 164K)

LINK IS HURTING THE ENVIRONMENT
MUH CLIMATE CHANGE

Who the fuck cares? It's not like Koholint is real, even Zelda canon it's just a dream.

The reason we need ports or remakes is so kids can play games released years earlier
Thats why i hope mother three is translated onto switch,so zoomers can play some good games.

is right, stuff like trumpents would fit the atmosphere a thousand times better, this is a mish mash that doesn't support any kind of atmosphere.

It's my favorite zelda game and probably one of my favorite games ever.
I'll probably get it.

This would look 1,000X better as a Doom mod or Build Engine game.

>shield has a cross on it

What did Nintendo mean by this?

>we will never get a game with the original Zelda 1 art style
When I was a kid I imagined one day Final Fantasy would have good enough graphics to look like Amano's art.

Instead we get Nomura's jpop shit.

Attached: ouya.png (640x360, 560K)

haven't played the original but I would say if you dont wanna spend the $60 like me just get A Link Between Worlds for 3ds

It's at least a decade old, what did you expect?

Attached: soul.jpg (1280x720, 182K)

Well, they did use Amano's art for a couple games. But never a high budget game.

It should be priced the same as Captain Toad.

This is supposed to have a very limited dungeon maker. I mean VERY limited. As in, you can only choose premade rooms from dungeons in game, and the map layout is limited to this heart shape. Even if it didn't have these arbitrary limitations, it would need a lot to compete with something like mario maker, which has much less rigid physics to work with.

The only way a Zelda Maker could work well is if it was a fully 3D Sheikah Shrine Maker on the BotW engine with the full online functionalities of Mario Maker (minus the multiplayer). Basically the Portal 2 level editor but with BotW, and you could input limitations like the Sheikah Slate runes allowed, amount of Heart and Energy, etc.

Amano's FF art was fucking awful, the only good art he ever produced was in Tenshi no Tamago.

Yes, absolutely, especially if you haven't played it before. It's constantly rated among the best 2D Zeldas, and for good reason.

Does anyone know if they are adding additional content?

needs more link feet

They're removing the photographs and adding a barebone Zelda Maker where you can rearrange cleared dungeon rooms together.

Based.

>Laughs] Firstly, it wasn’t so much that I wanted to make it from a business perspective! I was asked during an interview if I could make a game using a Nintendo character, what would I like to make. I really loveThe Legend of Zeldaso I answered that if I could makeThe Adventure of LinkI would be really happy. That story kind of blew up, but it wasn’t really something I was thinking about from a business perspective that I would like to make it, but simply that if I could make a game using Nintendo characters that it would be The Adventures of Link. And I still think that! But our company and I don’t really think it is realistic that we could make a game using Nintendo characters. But if after a long time such a miracle could happen, that would be really great! But we think it is unlikely.
I think they could pull it off.

shut up faggot

The weirdest thing about this game to me is that you can still only assign two item at a time to your buttons, clearly demonstrating that this was made by unambitious chimps who can't tell the difference between system limitations and actually important game design decisions.
